Joining us now -- star and release are all being out well done.
Paying -- things and me I thought let's talk about that such acute unique plot set up this story what happens that I described it well released parts.
And he did all right down in the film is about a young novelist who has had great success and is now having trouble following that up.
And his writer's block pound and one night he is a dream about a girl and in her you finally finds inspiration and so -- begins right about her and the more he writes about her the more real she becomes -- in the -- falls in love with her and one day he wakes up and she's in this house.
And -- -- go beyond that as.
Fantastic guy is -- a plot is it does bring up these questions about relationships about control all kind of grass is greener it's up what questions do you hope.
Audiences are asking themselves when they come out of that the -- Well first I just -- that they have an emotional journey with the characters and they find something that they can relate to a lot of us bitter relationship and it -- and lost love and and and so I I I hope they just go along for a nice fun and unexpected ride and and after you know I think -- the film is dealing with down.
Issues of having the idea of somebody and sort of imposing that on then then.
Asking them to be something and maybe not seeing the real person.
In front of them -- -- which sometimes we all do it and and control control and relationships controlling your partner.
In and having control on life.
And it now -- just think this is a project that's close -- your heart is an understatement.
So tell me about your writer costar.
Your -- tell me how how proud are you her with this project.
He and I am and super proud.
She started writing the film and or apartment.
And and we've sort of pushed it through and the whole way and down it's just -- It's been great great pleasure and and definitely what are the best experiences I've had making it making a -- and ensuring that was her.
That's we're showing some clips now so we can -- Zoe Kazan.
Could you wrote this and let me ask you when you work together then does it make it easier because you guys know each other so well does it make it a little -- challenged his meeting be that.
That much more honest or take your work home -- -- All right well it was not without its challenges but I think actually the working part of it was really good sound.
I think silly and I were primarily.
During the day just there for Calvin and ruby.
Probably more than ourselves down.
And hopefully there's -- chemistry there -- in intimacy there that.
-- it is is.
It is from his from us.
Luckily this film is not our relationship which media.
I don't think it would have done it if it was found.
And it every now and then Greg driving home after fourteen hour day.
That's a small domestic swivel took on more weight than that it might otherwise have but.
For the most part I I think we did all right.
He has.
And it reunited you with your directors from -- sunshine so what was that like.
Oh he was great I -- maintain a friendship with them I loved working with them the first time they are wonderful people and I think they are.
Extraordinarily talented filmmakers and they were our dream directors this film I I think probably about ten pages in Missouri writing and I -- and then.
They were sort of all our pulls star.
In terms of what we are looking for in sensibility and a filmmaker the whole time so we are very lucky to get them to four of us had a really special and intimate collaboration.
Ends.
I feel very lucky to work -- them and him I think we we had a good time.
And you had a great cast itself -- -- we're setting up the scene there on set let's describe who.
Tell us I know who's in this film and your reaction when you heard they were going to be part of this little project of yours.
I think the first actor we -- after zillion myself being attached to it was Annette -- and I I think I still remember the day we -- -- she's gonna do the film she told John Bell in their meeting right in the meeting that she won't do it and -- she's such a great actor and and also fairly selective once the fact that she.
Wanted to be a part of this film meant so much to us and I remember John about calling suggesting Antonio Banderas for apart and we.
And never thought of that it was just -- perfect.
Perfect choice for this hard it turned out and and and he he said yes she would do and we have Steve Coogan and -- schools and -- is shocked and -- and -- and present true blood in them but just took a bunch of great actors and it it was very rewarding to not just get to work with them then spend -- time with them -- just that they want to be a part of the film in the first place.
-- and let's show another clip.
-- we have you here another clip from the founding of -- little taste of what's in store.
Check this out really sparked.
G.
And that manifests a woman which -- -- you can -- future.
Men everywhere.
Possible story of my very great.
Decent screenwriting as well and follows -- I'm going to you had -- they may get behind the camera producing a little bit these days so -- nothing hoping you do in this industry as you go forward.
Well I definitely won't make a film.
For sure and we'll try and do that maybe sooner than later to direct a film and I don't know already are not -- -- Is hard but it's the first step towards making them.
-- good films so maybe I'll develop something.
Own ends probably trying to build a couple things and then maybe write something at some point I'm I'm I'm not sure.
We'll look for highlighting are you still working with your fans and can you tell me about your music your -- as laughter.
You and I still -- around a little bit in New York oh we don't get to play out as much as I would like to.
And it's nice three my best friends and it's it's a really good healthy thing to to have that my life's.
Great well thank you so much pollutant thing out and you can for now we can find he's starring in ruby sparks which starts its -- and select theaters July 20 --
