This unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to fly.
Some invest in roads and bridges that you got a business.
That you don't build that.
Get embedded on its own.
Government Assange -- the Internet so that all the companies could -- -- the fallout from those remarks has grown over the last four days -- -- a tidal wave of angry responses.
From business owners nationwide.
Resentful of the assertion that it wasn't just hard work and ingenuity that built this country -- government in large part.
Many political commentators calling this a pivotal moment of this campaign.
A potential gaffe.
That defines they believe the Obama administration and what it stands for.
Here's the take away from our senior political analyst Brit Hume.
It is fair to say that we know more tonight than we ever have about the president's view of business and the economy.
His assertion over the weekend that quote if you got a business you didn't build that somebody else made that happen.
Explains nearly everything he wasn't talking about god he was talking about government.
Here is a man who believes not just that the government provided framework of roads and bridges defense in law enforcement helps the private sector.
He believes these things are the nerve center the driving force more important than any individual talent enterprise or initiative.
Our focus -- back representatives -- both Republicans and Democrats.
To react welcome all so this is taken off it in meaningful way on line in commentators and papers and -- Kevin -- let me start with you.
Is it is big -- As Brit Hume as others seem to believe it is.
Absolutely -- is the small business owner.
Medicare Obama care -- other things have already weighed on us for the last three years.
But -- to come to us when we hire three out of every four new workers in the country.
And to say that we are not putting in the sleepless nights -- -- putting in the blood sweat and tears to build our business.
Is just an insult and it's an insult to the number one job creating sector in America this cannot be allowed to -- -- all of -- This is what president -- -- that he himself but others on the left Elizabeth Warren made this point few months ago about how.
What that what what what he's trying to say right was.
That it's not just ingenuity it's not just creativity and drive it's also an infrastructure is going to hell he's -- -- -- Horse that's true.
But it's also true that small business pays an awful lot more taxes than most Americans to build that infrastructure it's not like it was created and it didn't the government didn't send you -- big -- -- half of Americans don't pay income taxes and small business almost by small business almost exclusively.
Pays income taxes it pays payroll taxes that pays health care taxes it there's a whole bunch of Texas it helps build the infrastructure and of course it benefits from a -- -- -- for that but I think the part he got in trouble and now the whole thing is controversial it's not good but that the most controversial part was you didn't build that.
Let's look at that so that's a problem Bob this is if you take up to it as saying I hope it goes sleepless -- Clinton diagram accept some extra -- playing the whole clip because if you actually look at the context of what the president said he was saying -- didn't build those roads those bridges and and I think that's obvious I think anyone who started small business they know that you don't vote about schools that educated their workers the roads that helped get their products to market.
These are public investments and the reason we're having this conversation.
The reason he brought this up is because.
Right now the wealthiest of the wealthiest of business owners.
Are paying less taxes then -- workers in the middle class.
And that's why they need to give back to build that infrastructure for the few -- to go to David Chapman who's a special guest here in the panel he's the CEO of the chamber of commerce and at some strong thoughts idea at.
So related personal we have the most progressive tax system in the world right now so that say that they did that business owners are paying their fair share is just flat wrong.
And secondly what you -- this is just one of several statements you referred to Elizabeth Warren's statement alliger -- very similar statement several months ago it's a view of the administration.
But frankly it evokes are kind of resentment against people were out -- building the economy -- hiring people creating jobs.
Propelling us for -- -- I you know I get why a small business owners are funded by the statement.
-- not feeling it feels that -- because I wanted to play just it's a very short clip.
But here's how Charles Krauthammer put it in part of special report -- have.
Spoken by a man who never created or -- so much as a candy store.
So that is a criticism we've seen a President Obama many -- never ran a business Michelle Malkin came out last week -- said it -- the difference between mr.
One is used to signing.
The back of paychecks and one -- -- -- -- the front of paychecks if you've never run a small business.
Is it -- disadvantage John Holland got.
Well -- we we seem Enron he's experienced he's run a small business that earned run several businesses has also run a state Massachusetts and he was 47 out of fifty in job creation.
I think all this outrage is just an attempt.
-- -- distract from Romney's lousy record.
I mean we talk about progressive taxes -- -- army thirteen.
Well hello there how but he paid thirteen point 9% distraction from the run record and you put it went to small business don't like this -- while Democrat three years of sleeplessness and the calling on Hamas all the building might go out pretty good.
-- -- -- -- -- We really let me just -- -- on that because I will tell asset across -- Charles Payne and I say yesterday and he talked about how he sacrifice -- he had relationship damage your marriage issues and so on.
Because he puts so much time into his business and he felt as Kevin feels that he was debts she was dismissed by that -- I I empathize with a -- -- -- business myself but the reality is what he's talking that was roads bridges infrastructure I think that's patently obvious and generally yeah although he's still a lot of and yeah.
I thought that's what -- the idea of this actual comment is that if you do actually play the full clip and watch it in full context.
It's much worse than just a little clip that we heard the reality is if this reveals a world view of this president.
All good emanates from government not the individual not the private sector which is a very dangerous place to be acting in this political climate.
Because you need the private sector you need those small business owners to pull us out of this mess in the first place so what he's doing is not playing Smart politics I've heard Smart Democrats actually.
Say that this was a mistake by the president he should stay away from the -- rhetoric because it really goes at the heart of the American economy which is this more -- -- I want democratic right to hold me pole here we are again.
-- I guess it takes only a village to build a business.
Here's -- I don't know how does it just make -- the reason the president made these remarks is he wants to justify his call for higher taxes on you know wealthier Americans.
And and it was sort of you know yesterday -- I referred to sort of big guilt trip you know that that you get from your -- You know like you -- you know you you didn't get there by yourself when you have to pay it forward tell the president put himself.
But really how is what he's doing and that's -- how is that a justification.
For more taxes to seat and small business owners.
You know you it took roads and it took a good teacher took -- I mean it's so we all had that -- every American has driven on road -- every would be small business owner had good teachers and so on some bail.
And some succeed so how is it a.
Justification for higher -- it's a dozen vacation because the bottom line is that they're not paying their fair share it's not that -- calling on them to pay more it's that they they burned.
So much money because of what all of us have given to them if there are no roads that there are no public schools I was -- in a public school.
And sell -- all of these things are put into place so that people can succeed context is everything and that's -- -- the most important thing about this from mark.
Is that viewed in told I disagree with Tony that it's worse it's actually much better and much Fuller.
In full context because success doesn't happen and it actually doesn't happen alone.
This is the problem.
-- really answer this offs against then no we haven't actually been at the only under is ready if -- elect a hostility toward individual rights individual achievement a property rights look better.
About individual rights does not reality is if you're rich in the prescription could actually renounce your citizenship.
Gold why -- imminent and -- -- -- that I.
What about the better of the argument on that -- -- let -- not getting a little -- of all of this I think it was an unfortunate.
Gap thank you didn't get Democrats that's.
And we can get past this it was an unfortunate -- they're gonna be others that he's gonna create if they're gonna be others that Romney's gonna create but they're but then the reality is that.
If we spend so much time talking about these so called job creators and what we're doing for job creators they have not created jobs in years and what the president is taught -- yeah.
-- is ever going to get the most brilliant display too because now some on on on the right you know the far right are talking about how they view this as evidence of president Obama's worldview.
-- -- of America.
As a country and -- will go to you know Rush Limbaugh who is.
Who takes the most extreme view us now but but there's part of what he says that I wanna ask about a particular lesson how -- reacted.
I'll tell you what I did it.
I think it can now be -- without equivocation.
With out equivocation.
This man hates this country.
He is trying Barack Obama is trying to dismantle.
Brick by brick the American dream.
There's no way to put this there's no way to explain this.
To -- to dismantle the American dream is the president isn't he and I entertainment I applaud -- I disagree with that assertion but in the it is important say that it's not just a gaffe.
This is a consistent line of communication from the administration for at least a year or more what is stated this assertion that.
That -- business owes more to the government you know most of my members -- government and getting in the way of their success or not.
I know we know -- -- the -- and assuming your your thoughts as well -- Disagree with John fund that it actually does take a village to.
Build an economy in to build a small business I think President Obama was pretty clear insane.
The pain and the passion that small business owners put in you he gave them credit but.
To just completely dismissed -- the contribution that government makes is a bit laughable everyone we've talked about the roads and bridges.
But can we talk about eminent domain and how it has benefited so many individual very wealthy individuals and companies the government does that our copyright I think we have a police -- -- these -- the government.
Does to help support -- as I said before of course.
Infrastructure helps but we all pay taxes for that secondly we just heard we have just heard that there two trillion dollars.
Sitting on the sidelines for -- supposedly job creators have using that to create jobs the reason they're not doing that and you talk to democratic businessman and Republican businessmen they'll say the same thing.
Because of economic uncertainty this administration has let increase the level of economic uncertainty.
The largest tax increase America's about the start December 31 I.
Does not actually -- -- having a job creation let me get.
But this what do you Basil has your Democrat who doesn't who does -- does believe that this is a -- it's in the news today that Barack Obama is now moving away from his use of the teleprompter.
That is now going off no cars and they thought it would give him more sort of you know.
Be more humanistic when you're talking with your hands about about the -- more candid do you think that this was possibly a result of that it's -- you go off script it's.
Possible didn't really look like he was on the teleprompter at that point it did it just could be a very unfortunate death.
But -- Canadian.
Contact and I.
-- -- to complain about job creators this economy -- -- same thing go out start your own business and hire me.
I hate it we're -- anyone would like to go started -- some Pakistan Iraq -- do -- but if you start a business here you do well by America and you do well for America not only.
-- -- -- --
