In talking Bob I don't know how much of this you got to -- about.

And the inevitable inexorable discussion that will take place about gun control -- tightening.

-- laws especially with respect to assault weapons that used to be banned for a period of ten years now.

They're not is there any appetite for that.

In that building behind you there.

Now now there is -- -- would certainly will be -- freedom of the press conference this week in the wake the tragedy.

I think a tough decision at present Obama's gonna face is.

In the 2008 democratic platform it says that.

That President Obama supports the restatement of the assault weapon ban.

Now well -- whether they put that in or not into the 2012 versions gonna be -- but as far as actually legislation passing.

It's just not gonna happen even though.

In a look at Mitt Romney in the 1990s he supported the assault weapons ban that now does not president George W.

Bush supported but also did not push -- while he was in congress -- just.

I don't think there's enough.

But as as you would just say.

That see these handguns were legally purchase I just don't see the impetus.

For changing a lot of opinions on Capitol Hill still -- -- strikes me as really.

-- live in it and I I I'm confounded by it because a year and a half ago in the wake of the Tucson shooting in Gabby Giffords if ever there was a you know and a golden opportunity.

To do some mean.

-- -- weapons.

I mean I was -- as a member of congress was felled by a bullet.

And thankfully survived.

And there was all this discussion about it and there are even -- White House was talking about it members of congress were talking about it it's over and wouldn't know where.

Now it didn't the only thing that's recently passed was a relatively modest step provision that was backed by the NRA.

After the Virginia Tech shooting massacre but but nothing happen after.

After Gabby Gifford sand I just don't think there there's the appetite -- obviously NRA has.

A lot of cloud Democrats don't see this says they political winner and then there's a real question of OK well what would have happened and this had he had tougher.

Gun control laws would this is still happen and obviously gonna have.

Mentally imbalanced people do bad things but whether this would have prevented it I mean that's going to be debated this week.

-- all want to switch subjects now a bit more on the politics and do things presidential politics you've got out.

We'll pull out that a majority of voters blame the president for the bad economy doctors about that.

-- -- -- -- this this poll is is interesting because.

66% basically two or three.

Likely voters are blaming Washington and they're blaming Obama more than others more than congress and very -- more than president -- former president George W.

Bush in recent polls before this -- Bush was -- more than Obama so this is just another indication that the voters are impatient.

And that the Obama reelection campaign I mean they really have to change the subject -- as they have been.

Sometimes quite effectively over the last couple weeks we have a series of Fox News polls that came out several days ago.

And -- run through two quick conclusions the president's job performance he's under water.

Are you better off than you were four years ago roughly 50% say no and finally has the Obama administration may need.

The economy worse or better.

Half say.

That his policies have made it worse so that dovetails with your conclusions it in pulling conclusions right.

Yet does having this is I mean voters still do blame.

George W.

Bush but the one person I really can't blame -- Mitt Romney he's not been in public office you can -- congress you can blame Wall Street.

But he can't -- Romney -- and more more voters in these polls are blaming Obama not completely but saying that his policies have certainly.

Played a role in -- high unemployment and that is a major major problem.

For present Obama and that's why you know some Republicans are a little worried because they're saying with these numbers than Mitt Romney actually should not be deadlock he should be up by.

Three or four point soon.

Let me talk to you a little bit about.

Mitt Romney's faith he's a Mormon.

There are some who are suspicious of that particular religion are mormons on the cusp of the -- of the new powerful era.

They are they are we knew we we sort of story over the weekend saying that there are fourteen members of congress now that are mormons some but.

But there are more that are running so even if Romney is not elected mormons are -- going to be picking up power because -- -- senate majority leader Harry Reid is a Mormon.

There are a couple members in the house running for the senate including Jeff flake.

Who is in basically a slight favorite in it to win his primary as well as a general election.

And death so there they.

In this group blends both -- Democrats and Republicans but more Republicans.

They are on the cusp of getting more power regardless.

Whether Romney.

Is elected it in if he is elected then you have.

You would have -- -- Republican president Mormon president a Mormon majority leader or minority leader.

And then -- have the longest serving Republican in the senate Orrin hatch is Mormon as well.

Very interesting Bob Cusack of the hill.

Good to see you thanks very much Bob.
