Thank you Brian the Obama campaign according doubled the amount of cash loses this election -- the Mitt Romney campaign.

While being out raised.

By millions but new poll numbers suggest the president's spending spree on negative ads in a bloated staff aren't winning more support.

Former governor South Carolina Mark Sanford joins me now -- slaughtered in Florida good morning to cover.

Good morning to you so when you look at it that cold hard facts and a lot of though.

Is this strategy working out that that it seems that the Obama campaign has decided to spend a lot of money up front on negative ads in the Romney camp not so much.

Well I think it's we're gonna have for Romney.

In this instance a you know Obama doesn't think necessarily wanna talk deeply about the economy and his.

Part in it he's three years in seven months into ownership of that economy.

He didn't want to let -- -- but the other guy I think it's working very well for -- to sit back.

-- -- of the attacks and keep talking about his message which I think he's been doing fairly well today.

So that's interesting because there have been other Republicans.

Who have said -- we want Mitt Romney you know to get out there and be on the offensive a little bit more and -- the first punch instead of being in this sort of defensive mode.

You're saying that you think that you like what he's doing thus far.

Yeah I think it two different levels you know I think the old adage in politics is if you wanna make two -- story -- -- -- one day story -- keep talking.

You know obviously Obama is picking what he's picking based on poll numbers and to fight on Obama's ground of Obama's choosing.

I think it doesn't make a lot of sense you don't like a two -- story and that's I think it makes us at that level I think it also makes sense so.

Gretchen in that you know what the Romney camp is basically doing is saying.

-- I think the American public is smarter than you know the Obama camp may be thinking on this one.

You know Thomas Friedman is not exactly an avowed Republican wrote a book a couple years ago entitled the world is flat to talk about how really competitive the world is.

And and for business to thrive and to make it in these days.

They got to make some tough decisions at times dealing without -- at times dealing within sourcing.

But a whole array of tough decisions based on a very flat production line around the world and what what are the Romney camp is saying look the guy I was in business the role that this is man is trying to make your business.

Thrives and they keep it alive.

And and the idea that the American public is gonna hold him guilty for decisions he made as a businessman there were all within the confines of law and all within the confines of ethics.

And necessary at that time I think is again a good call on -- -- Okay let's look at some of -- spending totals just to go full circle back to the money on this whole -- -- the 2012 presidential race.

Ad spending totals 72 million for President Obama 33 million.

For Mitt Romney I mean do you think that there's any concern that the Obama camp -- run -- -- don't know or not because of all the super pacs.

Why I suppose now because of the super pacs and you know I think we're -- -- record numbers in terms of what sex expert in this election.

But again the question is.

You know this is in essence the Tug -- war the election.

You know via we make Romney owned the you know elect the unity the economic results of -- last that -- three and a half four years.

Or is bush -- -- or is Obama you know it whoever owns it I think probably loses the election.

And so I see where Obama camp is coming from but again I don't think it's gonna -- based on the wisdom the American public.

And based on Romney having a message about what it would take to change where we are with -- the economy.

Right governor we're gonna leave -- there are always good to get your thoughts governor Mark Sanford thanks so much.

My pleasure take care.
