Some Republicans now warning of -- looting of the taxpayer if congress does not get a budget done soon it would force a lame duck session of congress.

After the November election Republicans warn Democrats were going to shopping spree.

Senators -- Johnson engram write this in an op Ed quote.

History shows that by waiting until the last minute create an atmosphere of confusion.

Fear and alarm.

Proponents of big government give themselves a much better shot at getting what they want.

One of the -- shots and senator Ron Johnson was with me now a member of the Senate Budget Committee sir good morning to you.

Morning bill explain -- lame duck looting section what does that mean I'll find that.

Or really concerned about is senator Harry Reid.

His senate hasn't passed -- budget now over three years they haven't brought any appropriation bills to the floor.

So the fiscal year ends in September 30 we have to from the government.

And of course they're gonna wanna do is is create a scenario.

Where you -- they want to threaten that a government shut down so they can pass this big old -- field.

Omnibus spending bill throw every appropriations bill into one great big package thousands of pages long.

And -- where the taxpayers of America really gets gets raked over.

The call so you -- suggestion then just so I have this straight is go ahead get Republicans to pass a budget now.

That would extend the budget for a year and then whomever the next president is whether it's Obama or Romney.

You can work on the fine print them -- the bigger issues to -- have it right basically -- Is that -- basically we -- it's too late pass a budget but first of all we wanna take any kind of government shutdown showdown.

Off the table we're -- -- playing chicken like senator Patty Murray is apparently with tax rates so we really want to do two things we want to extend the tax rates.

For a year.

And we also want to extend a continuing resolution fund the government.

For six months and his fiscal conservatives you know we voted against the budget control act we think -- spending limits are still too generous they're not preventing the bankrupted America.

But we're willing to agree to that to get a long term spending.

Bills funding of the government.

So that we don't threaten shut down -- returns and certainly the economy so businesses trashing the planet in India Indian movement what what the president signed the letter B to of that.

You know -- if I -- we would like to get this passed through the house this week or next week.

And of course -- -- we can't tell the house what do but we've gotten a break you know -- is there.

We might do that for several breaks we can start putting pressure on the Democrats because it's such a reasonable thing to do why would the Democrats -- to.

Threaten the government shut down I have no idea I don't know why Patty -- -- in the way she is about taking this this country our economy off this group -- So again we -- it's a very reasonable proposal.

Give any responsible leader responsible congress a chance to give the office in the nude next administration it's our putting our fiscal house in order.

This is also what you -- lame duck sessions have been used in the past to ram through gasoline tax sites.

Congressional pay raises debt limit increase -- thousands of wasteful earmarks and trillions of dollars in new spending in this climate today do you think -- gonna happen.

That's still a possibility and.

Absolutely because let's face it if you're gonna try and pass something in just a matter of weeks you'll be thousands of pages long.

Nobody's gonna know what's really in that bill -- -- staff members actually write the bill and the members that are controlled the committees.

Or the of the people who have the real power.

And so that's exactly how all those spending abuses -- we want to avoid that we also want avoid any kind of -- a shutdown showdown.

Let's return some certainty the American economy so business owners have a conference start investing start creating jobs.

I just wanna pick -- one comment you -- you citizen it's like what you tell your kids.

Nothing good happens after midnight.

Nothing good happens in the lame duck.

I thought hey that's basically true you know -- It's it's it's a general statement but it's true we want to avoid a lame duck session -- -- limit the issues that we have to address.

Certainly we don't want to -- omnibus spending bill because that will spend taxpayer money that we simply don't have.

Got to thank senator otherwise you're grounded.

Ron Johnson Republican from Wisconsin we'll see up for you -- -- -- senator thank you for your time.

Have a great day.
