President Obama now doubling down on his campaign claim about small business owners the one where he said -- and build that.

Republicans pouncing on the statement and their attacks seem to be gaining some traction among voters now the president is running a new campaign ad.

Arguing his words were taken out of context listen.

Course Americans build their own businesses and every day hardworking people sacrificed to meet payroll and create jobs and make our economy Iraq.

No what I said was that we need to stand behind this America always -- -- by investing in education and training roads and bridges.

Let's talk about a Charlie -- a columnist for The Washington Times clearly what the president said that it happened.

Yeah must of stung him on the campaign is now with this scripted add to answer sort of an unscripted moment.

Yet this is a really really bad situation for the Obama campaign.

-- for two reasons one is.

I think it's a very you know this very well could wind up being a defining.

Comment.

In in the the the larger campaign.

For four -- for Mitt Romney's campaign anyway.

But it also because you know the first effort to try to to defuse this the that the -- -- -- their faces that first of Obama campaign tried to say that that Mitt Romney was making things up or -- said it was.

But we'll miss quoting Obama or something like that but even that there that in which they said that that they -- stated what Obama said which was exactly what what Mitt Romney you've quoted him as saying.

It's I think this is a very very troubling situation for that.

Obama campaign and anytime you have.

Have a campaign.

How with two separate ads in two weeks.

Defending themselves.

You're a bad situation -- -- -- on your explaining or defending.

You know in politics you're you're losing.

Well on the -- Romney supporters say what it what it points to is -- the president's overall mindset that.

Government sort of beast goes blessings upon business and and everything flows from government down lot of conservatives see -- the opposite way.

They're precisely I think the reason this could wind up being an a defining statement in the campaign.

Is that it does it it highlights the different mentality of the two candidates where President Obama.

Makes the argument.

That that that big government is the secret sauce in the American economy and that it's it's the government largess that makes the economy work.

And I think most Americans and certainly Mitt Romney would argue that no it's it's an American ingenuity it's hard work.

It's it's individuals who are wanting to.

Better their lives that is what.

You know that's with the secret sauce and the American economy well you know even if you put into comics.

You know his argument that roads.

An infrastructure helps small businesses -- -- they they do nobody would argue that they don't.

But but you know -- this does Obama think pay for those roads and the infrastructure.

Of the fact that the president is still responding to what he himself said leaves some openings -- -- the Mitt Romney campaign take a quick listen to this.

I'm they know that there's some people to think what the president said it was just a gaffe.

It wasn't a gaffe.

It was his -- is ideology.

The president does in fact believe that people who build enterprises like this really are responsible for it.

It's so as long as the back and forth continues its advantage Romney isn't Charlie.

Oh absolutely.

And you know that -- there isn't no there's nothing that nothing that Ronnie can say about this that isn't sort of to his advantage because it does highlight.

The difference -- and you know innovative going to the heart of it.

What but what of the President Obama said in -- what I think he believes you know.

It's that belief that we see that -- it has led to these huge investments in things like Solyndra.

He does believe that that it's the government that has it -- to sort of step in and fill up all these gaps that are left by.

By free enterprise which -- exactly right.

As long as we're talking about all this and as a -- is president Obama's campaign is putting out.

Campaign ads spending money on ads trying to explain all of this.

It is a win for running the toothpaste is out of the tube -- some might offend cheerleaders from The Washington Times Charlie thank you thanks.
