Thank you very much let's talk about the trouble with that schools shocking study showing just how far American students are lagging behind their international peers take a look at this.

According to a Harvard study students in three countries including a lot -- Are improving in academics three times faster than the United States got to figure that's been and as much money either.

And seven other countries are outsmarting Americans twice as fast.

So what will it take for the United States schools to make the grade our next guest has a unique perspective.

He's still a kid himself.

In school -- right now at seventeen year old and author of one size does not fit all the -- out the Mauritania.

Thanks for having me right the poster behind it says the trouble with schools what the biggest thing we're doing wrong right now.

Well right now we have this -- will kind of mentality in schools where we're not being affected by the events from the outside world -- We need to have school system that focuses on kid doing projects in real world solutions going -- the real world.

Working with people mentors.

Apprenticeships.

And going in traveling we need to have a system.

That make sure that we're leveraging the creativity the passions of students.

Because the most important thing right now is that we need to put students to control their education.

When they have.

The ability to -- -- they have no motivation to change it you know it's it's a great it's great that kids -- general education about what is happening in history and how government works and things like that.

But then when they go to college oftentimes -- study for years about things that they will never use in their real lives in that race one -- -- things that you say is the problem with.

For instance high school in grade school and middle school as well because we're learning so much about things that just aren't important ultimately to us.

-- people.

-- it's it's so ancient the model right now it's over -- about two years old.

And we're teaching subjects that are relevant it's doesn't make sense to me we we don't we don't like changes like medicine -- -- not open to it what about tasks.

Well we have a huge drill killed bubble -- culture in America.

It's -- pushing more standardized tests on kids when the study show it's inappropriate and dangerous and many times when -- grades.

Well -- lot of grades in school the way we degrading it doesn't work and some kids are good test takers -- some simply aren't yet.

We can't just.

-- -- let him make -- secretary of education for the day I get a fix it let's start by calling for President Obama to repeal no child behind and.

Abolish race -- top.

Just like that.

Yeah that would be the first best app that -- the first step followed by that I'd I'd bring together students parents educators policy makers.

-- together to form -- council.

And I would work together -- -- basically put out guidelines right on what we should be teaching because we should be putting all the stakeholders together.

Right now we're not doing that we're -- the -- teachers and students behind we definitely have to do some -- networker are you really seventeen but that you're Smart kid what you wanna be when you grow up.

I wanna go out eventually -- politics and business OK -- you get a good start.

Until we thank you very much by the way his book is called one size does not -- all students assessment of the school but -- there.

Thank you for having me elected right.
