Night two fighter jets were scrambled to escort -- United Airlines jet.

That plane was diverted after someone found an unattended camera on an empty seat flight 956 was headed to Switzerland from Newark, New Jersey.

But the -- turned the plane toward Boston's Logan Airport for an emergency landing Rick Leventhal is following the story now from our newsroom.

Hi Eric -- patty and counterterrorism authorities have been concerned about cameras for years.

A United Airlines flight attendant alerted pilots after a camera was found inside an air sick bag and a seat back pocket and no one onboard claimed it.

The pilot quickly made an emergency call to air traffic control prompting one controller to tell another.

I can't delay and he's got a big problem I gotta get him in here quick.

The incident sparked operation noble eagle into action fighter pilots with the Massachusetts Air National Guard scrambling to F -- to escort the plane to Boston's Logan Airport -- and during the mission.

One of the fighter jets had an emergency of its own losing avionics.

-- was able to land safely at its base meanwhile in Boston all the passengers had to be playing leaving their stuff on board they were -- screen.

And that -- camera was checked out by bomb technicians it was harmless traced to a passenger from an earlier flight.

And guess what those diverted travelers aren't scheduled to resume their trip to Geneva until three this afternoon that it.

All right and there's another incident with a needle found in an airline sandwiched yes you may remember six needles were found in Turkey -- -- on delta flight from Amsterdam after the US last month while another -- was found yesterday by a passenger.

On an Air Canada flight from Victoria British Columbia to Toronto.

Officials say it appeared to be a sewing needle in the sandwich.

The continuing to interview people that accessed the delta sandwiches and say they still don't know the source and whether this latest -- connected to the work of a copycat.
