Just like when.

-- -- -- -- -- -- That's why I'm running for -- And that is Mitt Romney's campaign singing the blues for the residents of Ohio.

As President Obama just has arrived there in the Buckeye State.

Tried to woo voters Rust Belt voters in an economically hard hit part of the country part of that state.

And this is power play and high and in fact Chris -- Good to see Internet and welcome back and welcome back also goodness -- to Susan for -- -- She's the chief congressional correspondent for the Washington examiner my former colleague and really somebody that you ought to be reading each and every day.

Because as I like -- come on here you know that sometimes sometimes politicians shade the truth a little bit in order to obscure their tremendous what some time.

Sometime sometime.

Rare occasion they they shaded a little bit.

And I do I want to talk at great -- with you about the Rust Belt.

And President Obama and his efforts there and in fact.

Lest I forget that's what I wrote the power play about today and if you were to follow me at c.s are all -- twitters.

You will you wouldn't have yet they're -- it yet we're will be running a little behind today and have to drive it soon and you have every day because -- put -- there for you you can also get in the conversation via Twitter -- but I want to ask you this season before we get to the heart of the matter.

Is I want to ask you what the heck is up with -- read.

In an interview with -- -- to coast and he talked about Republican donors slobbering into their food because they're toothless old men.

He accused Mitt Romney.

He said that he couldn't back it up.

But he'd heard that Mitt Romney for like a decade paid no taxes -- just ask just throwing it out there and then the other thing you're saying is that his deceased father Mitt Romney's deceased father.

Is ashamed of him.

Wherever he makes his eternal.

Rest.

What the heck is that Mormon verses more -- in her -- -- and competent little.

Huntsman wrong.

Appreciate it could be but also -- -- -- something to do to do with it Democrats are really nervous right now because.

The poll numbers show this thing is within reach for Romney that Obama -- lose the White House Democrats could lose control the senate the whole quote chill factor that could really make read the minority leader next year or just plain out of power if the senate has lost to Republican so he's really he's a former boxer.

He's a Mormon.

-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- Are there any of real good -- tax.

And the and the other thing that we've noticed Democrats doing -- play are doing more of these sort of like.

I'm not saying he's a fellow right.

This is totally reminiscent of out of conference call that was teleglobe eager to go reporters which is really quite incredible -- father who's a senior -- little.

Don't want her to that day where they were just making all kinds insinuation that.

-- he's again.

Asking is -- quite incredible it was -- it was totally a whole new turn for the Democrats are really trying to make this thing much more serious.

In their attacks on Ronnie and and it's this sounds like that they don't care that sounds troops from -- that he's gonna throw it out there and get the voters wondering in downloading and that's all it takes to get a few extra votes to -- -- work.

Word be viewed the -- -- of the irresponsible journalists of course -- we're just asking questions we're just asking questions.

There's your headlines you know.

Right certain people hear it in industries like didn't interview them people polled about Romney's background questions business background whether it's going to be beneficial to them.

To them personally and maybe that means Obama might be the better candidate.

He knows the kinds of things that showed up in at quinnipiac poll just -- today people are wondering.

Did Romney you know why he released his taxes is -- heard in -- -- these very key swing states like Ohio.

Well speaking about how let's take a look at Mansfield Ohio.

Which is on I -- halfway in between Columbus.

And Cleveland two of the biggest most of these two largest.

The media markets in the state do these two places where there -- the most votes.

Now Mansfield.

Is a Republican place that's mostly Republican the president's catching a little -- Because -- -- -- -- base he's flying into.

His budget calls to have closed.

As so there is that.

But after he touches down there he heads over Akron.

Which is former Goodyear.

Former the heart of America's tire making industry when we had a significant time in industry that's mostly in overseas activity now and in that area Akron and can.

You're looking -- a half a million -- maybe 600000 votes.

A lot of votes these voters are super important -- President Obama.

Akron is a democratic part of the statement they're worried that some blue collar voters are turning away from.

-- and -- -- very good reason to worry because if you do look at the poll numbers Obama's trying to win over the independents out there and a lot of -- Male voters there going for Ron -- trusts his business background a little bit more to turn the economy around.

Obama needs to convince those voters.

-- -- Turn the economy around -- have to get a better shot there because things -- -- are looking back up in Ohio the unemployment rate is below the national average average now they've seen economic growth in the state even though it's not quite up to speed and it says the word but is slowly improving.

Does that's the kind of climate that can work for an incumbent president if he really gets out there and try to convince voters it's competitive he's he's ahead by six points so in this latest poll.

It's -- -- he's reached by it's it's still looking you know say it's relatively safe territory for Obama to space it's.

-- -- northeastern Ohio is democratic this is the Cleveland this is the Cuyahoga River valley this is metro Cleveland this is Akron and Youngstown.

And that part of the state.

That is traditionally democratic territory but occasionally -- -- it from a put it this way if Republican can flip that part of the state right at least get it tied he can win on.

-- that Obama needs to hold that area which is why you're seeing him next -- he needs to get out there and and get in the face of these voters say he's gonna.

He's still working turn the economy around the Russert leaves a fumble Romney is headed.

Two Ohio as part of a swing state tour in the coming weeks so it's so competitive there it's when most competitive states.

But -- missing both those candidates all over the place between now and November in Ohio it's perhaps you know don't forget Ohio you know decided.

The 2004 life.

It has gone with the winner of every presidential elections since 1960 and were called at the 1960 election was razor thin.

So it is the Bellwether it is the swinger of the swinger so get ready Ohio and you're gonna see a lot of people and -- only gonna get if you make it -- -- something called Republican vice presidential nominee Rob Portman Susan we thank you so much for taking time -- for us today and not very good okay Internet we have to take a quick break.

But when we come back.

We gonna talk about a surprising.

Development down in Texas or at least it would have been surprising about six months ago as an outsider candidate a Hispanic Republicans.

-- is indeed Republican nomination for Arabs should be vacant senate seat there.

I was let's say for the party what does that say for the fall what does -- say for you it will be fascinating so you should stick around.

Ends of -- millions of Americans are rising up.

To re claim our country to defend it.

Liberty and to restore the constitution.

And that is Ted recruits -- surprise Republican nominee to fill -- soon to be vacancy in the US senate.

And towards the wise Internet Texas is kind of Republican he says he stands pretty good chance in the fall and this is our life welcome back.

And the Tea Party -- can -- depending on the talented either the Tea Party revolution continues.

And continues to knock off more establishment candidates.

Or.

-- Hispanic presence in the Republican Party continues to grow maybe that's part of it.

What the heck is the deal going on down in Texas how did it happen had we get here what's it mean I can think of no two better human beings to describe that.

This first -- -- shot gives the president of solidarity strategies he's the director of the Latino project -- he was an advisor to the Edwards campaign.

He is a big.

And big favorite of -- and he has on that -- so round of applause and I think.

And -- -- show for the very first time Brian Donohue.

He's the founder of -- media he is a veteran of the Republican universe he would worked on the bush campaign he's helped get a lot of Republicans elected to congress around this country so welcome Brian.

Thank you okay so the question is.

I I dispute.

Allow me to be disputes patients I dispute the common narrative that Ted Cruz miss is mr.

Tea Party and mr.

this stuff this guy worked for the bush campaign.

This guy was the solicitor general for the state of Texas.

He is perhaps more outside -- even David Dewhurst Tuesday well funded very rich lieutenant governor of Texas.

-- we beat in this but it's not like Ted Cruz is.

Sharon angle this is a guy who was just from a more conservative part of the Republican establishment what's a -- I saved he won last night because you had eight point 5% turnout -- have the base of the basically we all know debates in -- special election on a special time because of redistricting right but he's there and you're right he will be the senator from Texas and this is the big big big win for Democrats.

It's a big way I Democrats because.

Is if I'm gonna run a campaign against Republican outward demeanor crazy republics.

I'll -- they're crazy Latino Republican -- if I'm the drone campaign.

They just just beat you -- yourself but you're saying he's gonna win Brett.

-- stipulates trip from east Texas stipulates this is gonna happen.

You've got an underfunded Democrat running you've got a guy who's got a lot of support and backing by the Tea Party I mean it's going to be tough to beat him in a red state.

This year.

Okay so you know what your party loves Brian.

Hispanic Republicans you guys are like you would -- like 8000 dollar signing bonus if you would just switch over right now.

You guys Marco Rubio Bryant's and of -- Susana Martinez all of these Hispanic Republicans that cropped up in the 2010 election cycle.

You guys are crazy form.

Does.

The face does the face of the Republican Party need to change in order to woo Hispanic.

I think it's already changing this is not your grandfather's your father's Republican Party anymore and that we saw this in the last election cycle we saw individuals like Allen west and -- -- elected.

We're seeing a lot more minorities coming into the ranks of the Republican Party.

Nikki Haley -- and all.

-- it is a growing party it is an expensive party but it's one really found in the root of its principles and I think we're seeing a lot of different types of Americans.

Really coming towards the party -- that way seeing that these principles are aligned with their values.

And and that's exciting and it's exciting to see you party that is growing with a new and different kinds of candidates and brother chuck -- yeah -- right.

Off the bat I don't -- about it.

I know don't give that to yourself and don't put that out there anything.

So the here's what here's what you have to say Internet.

Any -- as very excited about cruises victory especially when some in the media try to convince us that the Tea Party AKA common sense grassroots Americans is debt.

And -- make a good point and here's the deal you can talk about the upper case Tea Party.

Where you can talk about the Tea Party movement and the Tea Party movement really when you think about it is more of a continuation of the same thing that we've been seeing.

For sixty years inside the Republican Party is that there is a more conservative.

Libertarian ish people that really -- the government did ish part of the Republican Party and the Tea Party was just a manifestation am -- getting that right.

I think so and I think that in this a perfect storm for the Tea Party Republicans in Texas when you have the most -- people to show that a Republican -- In the middle of summer when it was a 110 degrees yesterday in Houston it's people who really are angry people who wanna say I'm gonna show the establishment -- has been around Texas -- I remember -- amount -- elections in Texas ten years ago he never went away people like -- this is -- -- go to school and guess what we found a -- to run with Valentino Iraqi absolutely -- -- -- -- -- was born in -- his father worked in the oil business.

A -- that's a distillation of the about the issues mean we go back to general election no -- he's -- or not with he'll still have to identify himself on what he stands on issues and values at -- -- in Texas -- -- to -- his -- to go.

Look at that -- this what he believes this is the Republican Party same thing we didn't -- -- -- we did in the battle last year with these Tea Party candidates -- Iran would take.

This much rather than those to -- here's the problem RS the left in the establishment tends to focus on the movement itself specifically but the movement came out of a mood in the mood is resilient in this country we saw this populist mood commanded 2010.

In the mood really comes from the fact that the American people are tired of a growing government.

They're tired of these these fiscal policies that are coming out of this administration.

They're tired of paying more taxes and seeing the -- go well.

And and if they focus on the movement that's good for the Republican Party.

Help them focus on tea parties have -- focus on these these huge -- small portion.

All of who they see it as a visible face with the are missing is that the mood is there in the Moody's -- -- Growing government and tell -- establish.

Exactly anti Washington anti incumbent and there is that's -- real thing chuck is that for now.

Other Republicans are gonna lose some seats in the house no doubt because they had such that Todd was so high for them in 2010.

If I'm Harry Reid we talked about this in the previous segment when he was talking to people drooling into their oatmeal.

And -- -- Mitt Romney may may or may not has not paid any taxes for a decade he's just hanging out there four Democrats is they look at the senate.

This anti incumbent mood -- to get it right.

But it's not given them we benefit from the Tea Party -- -- take cruises in places like Indiana repellent to -- probably would have a chance to -- a long term incumbent well funded now you have this Murdoch who's kind of on the right wing of the party pushed Joseph -- in the race but then I guess to some other places this and this result gonna come down -- and a number of -- states like Massachusetts Virginia Ohio and that's -- the -- games going to be this year.

What's your what's your your particular I just love in the room when that when the left -- you know anti taxes -- growing government into dead right wing.

I think you'll see there will be a lot of people fall into that right -- camp this year -- -- -- -- I think we're gonna do extremely well this year I think the numbers are on our side the mood is with us and we have energy -- -- base which is the movement you describe that we're not seeing on the left.

He's from New Jersey -- from Texas they're both snappy -- we thank you gentlemen for both being with us today thank you thank you -- okay we're gonna take a quick break but guess what I have good -- for -- Two pieces of good news if you will Megyn Kelly who you'd like.

Very much Internet she will be with us on the other side of this break and congressman Joseph Wilson from South Carolina will be back with us.

We'll talk about the bad about a bunch of fascinating stuff I think it's in your best interest to -- -- I think is that a nation that has a free press.

We recognize the right of members of the media to had to pursue their their own views and agenda to be going back from the very earliest days of our nation.

There were there were members of the media and -- years that.

That laid out their own views that that is their right now sometimes members of the press pretend that they don't have a point of view.

That I think is is not entirely accurate I think most people do have a point of view to express it.

And back.

-- is soon to be -- Republican nominee Mitt Romney channeling it a little bit of Whitney Houston saying that it's not right but it's okay that the press is biased against him.

And that the reason that the narrative.

On his European adventure was so negative was because they don't like him and they don't want to win and he was talking to none other than Carl Cameron.

And this is power play welcome back so the question is.

Can Mitt Romney get a fair hearing in the press he says he can't but that's okay and he can work around it what are the obligations of the press as it relates to this campaign.

How much bias is there really can -- to get a fair shake.

You know who probably has a good answer to that.

Is our friend Megyn Kelly.

Who you love to watch each day starting at 1 o'clock eastern on America lives -- -- how we doing today.

I'm loving it Whiteney reference running.

I'm very -- I'm very smooth I'm more soulful than people think you know doesn't always come through on TV.

So we thank you very much for joining us today.

And the question is.

Is Mitt Romney right can he not get a fair hearing in the press.

-- in and which is he right to sort of -- the rest on this and say.

If you don't like the picture that's developing of me it's because they don't like.

I don't think there's really much question that there's.

I ask in the media and that decided that he can write a lot of folks reporting -- him don't wanna see him win and -- and rejoiced when he makes sick after having said that he needs and gaps and the media.

Covered them not unexpectedly and I think it's a turnoff to most people when -- whether it's Obama or Romney they start whining about the -- and the press coverage.

-- -- -- -- And that's from both sides of this irritating when they.

You know abolish the complaint about Fox News than Mitt Romney complained about every wind it's like really.

Think the American people care about a year media coverage.

They don't.

Well the in fact we're we're seeing just crossing now governor Ted Strickland.

Ahead of president Obama's arrival.

In Ohio is complaining about Fox News mocking the Fox News that the president often complains.

About the cable news here and then sometimes -- little more specific loves to -- do that.

So there is some game though isn't there in playing the victim for both -- -- -- -- that you said you know they're they're just picking up.

I suppose you know hardcore members -- they're basically here to hear it and I remember being at the end.

Republican National Convention that Italy went went certainly went after the media boy.

I did it is -- that.

Arena were on their feet I remember they pointed over to those of us in the press box.

-- technically street media and they said.

And that assumes that not you -- -- If you're behind it's all the rest of these guys can go over well with you know with some folks I think the party faithful like it and do believe that there is you know.

-- -- Against.

Romney.

And the mainstream media and then -- biased against Obama.

By some publication some outlets and Edison did -- that I think the average American out there is thinking.

I -- -- listening to -- quietly listening to these both both these candidates are -- All of them wanted to president of the United States ultimately incredibly successful overlooking them to help -- -- that this economic.

Net before it and what -- this publicity -- complaint about your media coverage shot up.

That I think I think there's a lot of truth that whenever people you know it's sort of like you wanted the job you ask for this so if this is this is part of the process.

And I figure and I don't know whether you agree that -- sort of big discounts and of depressed people is sad as it may be to -- for us our prevention has not been held in very high esteem for quite awhile so it sort of kind of discount it.

Well you know I mean I -- this problem every -- we've got a few hours a position to deliver.

-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- That are part of the -- you know and they don't necessarily focus on the substance they talk about the window dressing.

And that's just a function of working at 24/7 cable news.

It in an election that -- David Brooks had a complicated attacking about how it's the delegate selection ever at Philips -- campaign ever so.

The necessarily you wind up talking about things other than substance here and there and it can be frustrating and it can be.

Irritating I think to some viewers but it's sort of sucked up the process didn't go to the substance.

Not not me not ever never never never never promised a blessing maybe before we let you go what can America what can the Internet look forward to on America -- today starting at 1 o'clock eastern.

My favorite favorite favorite to talk about Kelly's court this badminton apocalyptic let's -- Well out of politics is but come out of summer -- -- this person need a little we need a little diversion.

-- the other thing else I noticed this power put pressure to talk about politics that we have -- that covered -- -- -- EE I including by the way this is studied at all these.

College kids are now living with their parents -- after college football these young folks but I mean.

Are we got close to Europe now have we become Europe it's official that the 25 year old with their parents now -- definitely.

But anyway.

Two segments of the Olympics.

-- that didn't -- awaited the reality there in the game and that they get a better seeded and now they're challenging.

The ruling that South Koreans and the Chinese.

But the other thing is.

Actually seen some of these pictures of what that Chinese do with kids they're young.

Gymnasts and swimmers in particular.

Little Daily Mail posted these the other day and it was just it was mind boggling.

So we're gonna take a closer look at exactly how you get to be a standout Chinese Olympian.

And whether it is plausible that this woman the other day and -- -- demand side because when -- when you hear more about what they put their athletes through.

You might have been thinking drugs anymore.

And here I thought you were going to say -- are all at 1 o'clock talking about campaign finance that's fine that's.

I'll tell you I just -- You know executive vice I didn't know we were understood who would you yeah we'll try yeah.

You're on vacation last week.

It was the longest week of my life all you crazy because you're really kind part of our show and I -- -- your activity reporting and you are welcome every game we neared.

On vacation it's really likes to I have broken my heart.

All -- you're so -- we have to run his Joseph Wilson's waiting for -- we thank you so much for being here -- -- would do it with another Whitney Houston crowd.

We're going out like that.

Yes thank you Megan -- guy.

I now congressman Joseph Wilson I'm so sorry to keep you waiting but it was for Megyn Kelly serenade so certainly I hope you'll understand.

Hey I appreciate -- and very much.

And she is indeed a national -- yourself the question congressman -- and we have limited time but I want to get to this get right to the meat of it a big part of your work in congress right now is blocking.

Defense sequestration automatic cuts that go into effect that would have a huge impact on your native South Carolina would be a big deal -- your state you're working very hard on this.

Give us the overview what are the stakes here.

When the American people need to know we just had the OMB testified this would be destructive to our national security.

The deputy secretary of defense announced that this would be wasteful a direct quote he said it's stupid.

And it is -- and it needs to be addressed in the result is undermining our national defense.

But isolated the destruction of a million jobs 200000 jobs.

In the state of Virginia alone this needs to be addressed I'm very appreciative.

Chairman but McCain -- of -- armed services committee.

We have pass legislation to address sequestration.

And the Ryan budget and addresses this issue.

We had.

The reconciliation address issue.

Congressman Scott Rachel and and defense authorization act address the issue.

But the president has responded by saying he would -- these pieces of legislation.

Well I assume what you gonna do what you guys gonna -- We're gonna keep passing it and saying it on sadly it does it does go to the graveyard of the senate that has not passed.

A budget in three years -- we need to be working together because indeed.

Was just quoting administration officials.

The sequestration is stupid and so we do agree that did it has to be addressed and but sadly they are not allowing votes in the senate we must have action and I'm very proud.

That senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina on -- has been taking a lead on this trying to force a vote.

Now.

Who -- -- isn't it -- true though that this and it's not gonna do anything until after the election via the until we get today you may go lame -- the super lame duck session in December.

Nobody's going to move the ball on this right.

That that's totally irresponsible.

Chris I mean it is just so sad because it puts military families at risk our troops.

Under fire at risk contractors.

On jobs across our country.

We also are sending a lack of a message of lack of resolve our our enemy believe that we don't have resolved.

On that we have the watch they've got the time.

Puts America and its allies -- Israel at risk we should be taking action and I'm very proud.

The Republicans have passed legislation in the house it's being stuck in the senate -- the president needs to get involved on this issue to.

Joseph Wilson congressman from South Carolina favorite -- are -- -- thanks for the latest congressman no thank you so much.

Okay Internet we have to -- what action packed jam packed show even a Megyn Kelly Sharon Day who -- well it's all for you and and I hope you enjoyed I hope you will enjoy on the hunt with Jonathan -- up next.

And now as we like to do every day we want to leave you.

The word from our -- else.

Some quality.

I was stunned I didn't expected to happen actually wrote.

In my column and I thought and nationalism in the World Series -- move -- -- -- apologies and now I.

Expose your -- -- -- gonna win the World Series.

That is a great his apology yet there's still clinging to a tiny.

Point on this but the argument is over and I appreciate.

That the correction in the attraction.
