Factor -- -- -- -- right now instead in New Jersey if you rape a child under thirteen the mandatory prison term is ten years.
And you can be gotten eight and a half of good behavior.
Many including me think that's far too lenient would like to see the garden state passed Jessica's law at least doubling that minimum.
There is a proposed a law that would make that happen -- Jersey has been slow and passing it and with this now state senator Steve Sweeney.
Who has been accused of delaying the new law and I'm glad you came in here I want you to set the record straight if we've been unfair to you.
But the the fact of the matter is that.
Two -- -- 2005 Florida past Jessica was flawed because it is Jessica once heard that there were a little ten year old girl.
It's up to twelfth at seven years 43 states had Jessica's law which you guys don't.
I wasn't -- leader when the bill was announced they were introduced back in a five.
But I was in front of the curve and 04 because I actually proposed to go to put GPS tracking system to sexual predators.
To prevent what happened that poor young lady down in Florida I believe in the some sponsor the bill -- senate president I'm gonna get a pass all right.
And we and we're happy that you're gonna get it -- put.
You couldn't I used to live in New Jersey and I love the state.
But I don't know why it takes seven years to protect the kids in the meantime.
I this is just a partial rap sheet a poor children who have been raped and guys are getting out they got you know five years eight years.
And that the case in New York that you know we're talking about who years.
I mean.
I don't know why it took seven years for you guys to get to this.
It shouldn't take seven years why did it took me three years at the GPS built.
Tomorrow whose whose wholly innocent there's a whole bunch of factors that goes into legislation not that I am I union -- but that's right two for eleven I'm not aware.
Sometimes you get frustrated by the process that takes place in doing legislation.
It shouldn't take seven years I was in the senate president back in 2005 when it was introduced is a no brainer we're -- the bill for just more progress on my allegiances.
Study who do -- the bill and why it wasn't signed by Corzine or.
Christie so forty jeetz DC why it wasn't I think the people want to know what holds it up.
This and it's moving forward has spoken to are you don't know is what I I don't know -- -- -- listen I'm not for a few things and throw people.
Throw names attorney presents his dispersants -- that person.
Most important thing -- we get it on belt and I really got it done we're gonna hopefully we'll have a a committee hearing in September -- in fact.
I would love for you to come and testified this hearing you need me we analysts say -- everybody knows is not and cannot do not it's helpful to raise the profile of the issue.
Because once surpasses my -- a -- get passed in the assembly and I wanna gives the company.
The assembly already -- gonna do it.
And the governor says he's gonna -- when there is some would say that last week okay grip that today you've got the look guess what they did any delay you call me and I'll come down but I probably -- gonna.
I have I think you'll sell right -- to come now it's a good issue and it should be worked all right.
Basically what we have in our society now is.
90% of people agree with the UN make that.
We need it right 90% of Americans would you say that's an accurate thing I'd say 95 are -- in ninety -- But still there there is some kind of power here in New York.
In new York and -- You know this Goodman guy I mean he he would have -- on September of defense didn't commit.
I mean it and so we call the governor of the state Andrew Cuomo just as we call Christy now here's an Egyptian situation.
There -- Cuomo basically ignores us because he's a book he's above talking a -- like me are you not gonna talk to me Christie did.
Talk to me call me crazy.
He did talk to be directly just.
But he could he calls everybody crazy right so I should that's a compliment absolutely okay that was he didn't affectionate way Bill O'Reilly is crazy -- At least she's -- intention.
But I don't understand why these politicians don't get in front of this and be heroes to the kids.
I don't get it.
He spent on the right thing analysts I spoke to the governor he's very much on board would work remain with me to get the -- -- the good thing is we're gonna get -- signed into law New Jersey will be unfortunately.
Put 42 43 by the time it's on its fortieth 44 you'll be the 44 state and it's unfortunate its taken so long because who has something.
Nationally that should happen it was a no brainer to do a national right.
Well you know you could you can't -- child rate because it's a state issue.
It's interesting because Jersey's -- state.
That is -- liberal you're Democrat yes sir he's gone liberal more liberal in the last fifteen years why is that.
Won't listen I'm essentials Democrat in fact some people semi conservative what you're working guy demo working class Russia OK but I don't think I don't think.
I think New Jersey is a very moderate state it's not a -- you like -- -- go Obama.
Of course went ahead.
Yes he is he's way and in state.
But that doesn't mean it's it's all the way to the last.
I think most of people in New Jersey are in the -- per console what is it about New Jersey it's changed in fifteen -- of this diversity I mean New Jersey more minority people have come and new Jersey's one the most diverse states of not the -- diversity in the country.
You know we have we're melting pot and you know and that doesn't make a bad thing it's a good thing okay.
But the encouraging thing is that even know the profile is change politically you believe that Jersey writes.
Want Jessica's law and are behind you you know -- haven't heard anybody yelling -- saying don't do it have you no absolutely not.
Because it's a great thing to do it's just wondering things Saturday -- -- -- coming and we appreciate it we're glad we get it done and when you get done was had a camera down -- -- -- --
