Think developments today in the crisis in the Middle East as we get word that President Obama has quietly directed our intelligence agencies to provide some support.

To the Syrian opposition forces.

It could be a risky move since some of our allies in the region are claiming.

That they are 100% sure al-Qaeda has infiltrated these rebel ranks.

In another troubling development UN envoy special envoy Kofi -- -- the -- charged with negotiating a peace deal with the Syrian president today.

He -- he has now announced that he's quitting.

A frustrated and saying that his goal was to prevent scenes.

Like -- and stop the murder of innocent civilians including women and children.

But he now says he received zero help from the international community in particular members of the UN Security Council.

Suggesting they've been bickering like children while people are suffering and dying in Syria.

Joining me now lieutenant colonel Ralph Peters who -- a Fox News strategic analyst and author of the book -- at Gettysburg.

And the -- colonel Oliver North.

A fox is military analyst and host of war stories general -- -- welcome both you so much it's it's you know it's going from bad to worse over there and now.

We find out that we're providing.

Twelve million dollars in humanitarian aid.

Let me start with you on this -- and ask for some perspective on what it is we've done it and Kofi Annan's remarks.

But what we have done this before too little.

I am also by the -- -- and concerned about yet another White House or administration.

Classified information -- to make the president look tough.

And as we've discussed yes -- CAA's very active helping the rebels for a long time but it's been too little too late.

And is so the result has been that we've opened the door for Islamist extremists in Syria.

Al-Qaeda has got a presence but its smallest important not to exaggerated and other Islamist groups are there to.

Why are they there.

Well they were initially welcome.

But as we did or didn't know all.

Cry crocodile tears at the UN and blamed everything on boom -- bullies in Moscow and Beijing.

The al-Qaeda types -- the other islamists are showing up.

And they're willing to fight and die to defend the families of the freedom fighters so look at it this way if you're -- your fan he's been killed.

In the American president is wringing his hands -- gathering to be here not to be in islamists who you may not like show up and help you defend the other happier family.

Where are the Americans you're not gonna say -- nasty Islamist get out here because president Obama's gonna come help us the enemy of my enemy is my friend.

Colonel north what what should we have done what should we be doing -- there's been talk of perhaps we go in and we create.

And and you know -- maybe months earlier some sort of safe zones for this Syrian civilians who want to get out from the massacre.

Well there's a lot of things we could've been doing we could but -- but providing military support to the resistance if you will of the rebels.

Through Turkey threw -- it -- Iraq because they've got an interest in making sure the outcome is friendly to them that just friendly to us.

But I just go back to this thing that Ralph just mentioned a moment ago but -- The leak of more classified information.

In fact this is an administration.

Effort to create a story that really isn't -- story because they're so concerned.

About what missing weapons of mass destruction and so they've created this Biden quote leaking of finding.

That Hillary Clinton announced on the first of April I've got her press release right here.

There is nothing new in what we've now learned about this finding that she didn't already say while she was in Turkey.

And all things on April Fool's Day.

It's intelligence nonlethal assistance.

Providing communications equipment.

Using -- US NATO and NATO base in the neighborhood to provide all that training that they -- operate this equipment.

And communications and medical support particularly for the dependence all of whom were coming from Turkey.

The Obama administration.

Wants credit for doing nothing and they're now thinking just to prove that they've done some.

And just -- clear that because I did not introduced that well because there is a separate report out today.

Suggesting that the administration.

Had that President Obama signed to Kohlberg directive authorizing US support for the rebels in the and that there was there's a funny location allows for clandestine support by the CIA.

Well and all of this was announced in the first of April by Hillary Clinton this is an effort on the part of the administration.

To deflect blame particularly from Israel you should any of these chemical weapons be used by the resistance or.

God forbid by the government that takes over -- the terrorists in the neighborhood.

So now we're looking at a situation routes on which we have the massacre of 20000 Syrians including many women and children -- were watching babies literally get murdered and Syria.

The world's superpower has done next to nothing.

The UN Security Council has done next to nothing Coakley and the one guy was supposed to go in and did negotiate some sort of you know.

Cease fire we saw saw how well that work has now quits and the massacre continues unabated what what.

Next.

More massacres.

May coffee and and be given credit for it.

Warning do the right thing but all he wound up doing was providing cover -- the Asad regime that kept agreeing to one ceasefire after another and then ignoring it.

And unfortunately as the world has -- -- violence has gotten so personal.

And so sectarian because this was not originally a sectarian insurgency.

But now.

Even if it ended tomorrow.

There's nothing we could do to prevent revenge killings massacres.

And frankly the world is let this drag on so long.

That there may not be.

A future for the two or three million -- always the minority.

Religious splinter group that supported that from which is Saud regime comes there may not -- a future for them to Syria and that sounds awful but I'm trying to get people ready for what's coming.

When -- aspires to a close.

The murders.

-- revenge killings are gonna drag on and on and on this is a part of the world where they don't forget.

Now and yet colonel north with a 20000 dead -- -- rest of the world the sitting by and watching it.

What are we supposed to do how I was sure we go and build the lone superpower.

Again further to this whole thing -- look without American leadership NATO will do nothing the United Nations will do nothing the total lack of human intelligence on the ground.

In Syria is appalling.

And a reflection of the institutional arrogance that is great basically running Washington.

And our intelligence services what we really ought to be doing to help make this whole thing go away a lot sooner it's still going to be very -- Is providing real Covert operations.

To support an Iranian opposition.

Inside that country because that's where most of the problem comes from -- guys thank you so --
