The government is creating now an army of new IRS agents to enforce the health care law and today Republicans were demanding answers.
This is gibberish.
We're talking about the most intensely personal issue for the American people it's not just gonna be your income tax any longer it is going to be well I've had a baby.
Oh I've lost my job I've I've gotten a promotion.
All of it now he has to be communicated to the -- Your -- does nothing to strikes fear in the hearts.
But people little businesses in the fact that the iris is showing up sir I would tell you made it hard for protesters not the IRS was it is right you wrote this law is there congress don't know what mr.
Jefferson.
I just got here.
I've only been here for nineteen months no I didn't write it back nobody nobody even read it before they pass this government is crushing job creators.
Now -- the chairman of that committee California Republican congressman Darrell -- the chairman I listened some of that testimony today some of that hearing and it was just.
It was unbelievable.
Tell us give us your sense of of what's going is the IRS going to be charged with -- implementing or at least.
Keeping -- of the payments with -- within obamacare.
Absolutely and it's worse than that not only did no member of congress.
Believe that in fact this was a tax law that was mostly about empowering the higher -- -- Delve into every aspect of your life to see whether you did -- didn't get a subsidy.
And so on.
But on top of that half a trillion dollars by an IRS rule a single stroke of the pen by the commissioner is going to cause.
That much more money in subsidy to happen then was in the -- squares of the bill and that's what today's hearing included was the fact that.
They are going to be taking.
And subsidizing people in violation of the letter of the law and -- -- with the intent of congress this law was so poorly written and so vague.
-- you can say almost anything with the intent of congress even though there wasn't one word on the house floor and committee that implied what they're doing.
But that's what's happening today it's gonna cost the taxpayers half a trillion dollars a year.
Don't get to that again it in just a minute but let's talk about that the first like if I don't pay my taxes.
Chairman.
I -- find and in it basically be iris comes knocking on my door.
As of 2014.
If I don't buy health care is the IRS to start knocking on my door also.
Actually they're gonna do more than that they're gonna take 2000 from your employer 2000 review.
It additionally if there's a subsidy paid for those don't take it this is not something you apply for it when the iris -- demon.
They'll take that from your employer -- could cost 5000 dollars between the whole shebang.
We're not doing it but more importantly.
You now going to have to explain to the IRS and they're going to look for changes.
In all kinds -- status including married who's living in the house.
And it means that there will be more information collected disseminated by the higher -- on a monthly basis than the census even does.
That's part of the challenge it's part of a challenge that we heard today the -- is not ready for.
-- -- how many people how many IRS agents are they proposing it will take.
To implement obamacare.
Well they're estimating 800 some.
Let's remember we now at 67000.
TSA agents when they estimated 161000.
-- how government works if they estimate less than a thousand it'll be more than 4000.
Right congress we just had Joe Brown used to run UBS.
Well respected man on Wall Street sentence of the partisanship.
Is disgusting -- believe that was his word disgusting what do you make of that.
Well I think partisanship for the sake of partisanship is always wrong and I think that's an important thing to look for an opportunity to work across the aisle anytime you can.
But -- -- divide between the two parties in areas of which way we think the country should go smaller government lower spending.
More empowerment of the private sector get private jobs going again.
-- additional subsidies for public sector activities that's a big difference it has won the voters are going to have to resolve in November.
Congressman I was listening to it took some of that back and forth with with congressman Kelly there beyond the people representing I believe those people representing the IRS and and if I'm not mistaken.
They seemed angry they seem mad they seem defensive is this what we're gonna expect.
Come you know a year from ourselves that the IRS agents to be knocking our door and it -- -- that's a bad team.
Well very clearly the -- is being given a job that is far beyond the scope historically of the IRS.
And it's going to be a burden on the IRS.
Both witnesses today both the commissioner and the tax advocacy.
They said basically in in written statements and written reports that they're going to have to choose between.
Audits and if you will snooping into whether or not you get this subsidy of a few thousand dollars or not.
And cumulatively this subsidy is large one thing we heard today too is you may get a subsidy and even want.
And then at the end of the year you may find 3000 dollars pulled back.
Out of your tax return for a subsidy you didn't want they didn't go to you.
It actually went to a state or federal exchange and other words to another government agency.
Sounds like a lot more bureaucracy chairman Darrell Issa thank you sir.
It is thank you -- they don't.
