-- Iron Man of baseball is looking for some help from the public cal Ripken junior's mother -- Was kidnapped at gunpoint from her home in Maryland last week.
The 74 year old was driven around for hours and found -- still tied up the next day in her car luckily she's okay.
And police have released surveillance video of the suspect and now the baseball hall of Famer is pleading for more information.
I'm thankful and happy that so and calm and my mom was returned.
And no families so thankful for that.
-- I know that.
You know crime has been committed as being investigated so.
The reason I'm standing here reluctantly confront -- view is is just to help the process to help law enforcement.
Get more leads and get an identity of the person that.
That took mom.
-- -- She's former homicide detective and Fox News contributor Rod Wheeler hi rod so.
They -- video that we saw from the store that they believe is of the suspect and they also have a sketch what are they basing that on why they think this is the guy.
Well I think there's a number of reasons why they think this is the guy and I think the time element is the main reason because you know this -- abduction took place is kidnapping took place in Aberdeen Maryland.
And in that video patty and that they have of this guy that plays and why -- -- Maryland now Aberdeen in white march to solve that the viewers know was only about.
Ten to fifteen minutes apart so I think that's why they honestly believe this is that particular guy that they're looking.
Four yes she was not harmed she was tied up in the backseat of the car -- was driven around.
Eric Holder don't worry I'm gonna get you home.
What was the motive.
You know what -- and here's the thing and I think I have this all figured out.
First -- law I believe this guy with the local contractor.
Working in the area up Aberdeen close to where Cal's mom let.
He -- even brought previously worked and did -- work take Al's mom's home I don't know.
But I think -- -- a local contractor and for some reason I think this guy.
Came up with the idea of extortion I think the plan was to kidnap you know Cal's mom.
And then call in a call a phone call to try to get money out of cal and I think the guy -- spoke for some reason or another at some point patty aunt and he changed his mind now one last thing and I think it's very important.
I also believe this guy is probably watching this show right now I think this guy -- been hiding out he doesn't know what to do -- so I'm gonna appeal to him to turn himself spent.
Because right now he does that it actually be better for him then -- -- having to try to find him patty and so -- the charges.
Well you know what that's an excellent question extortion I think it what its intent watts.
But he did in fact hit.
Kidnap the woman so kidnapping obviously if they charged but extortion at the worst charged they kidnappings would have -- -- the guys watching now batter.
For him to just turn himself in -- about cal Ripken and his family they're not operable but they just want the got to come forward -- the guy needs help they'll get them some help.
But I think the -- the local guy I'm right up there in Aberdeen and I think he just really needs to turn himself in -- So we've got us some evidence the police said earlier today from the vehicle -- -- and gotten a few tips from these billboards that they have Bob but generally.
Not many clues they say why so few clues in this case.
You know why I can tell you why so -- too close because I think this guy did this crime on his own I don't think he did -- in cahoots with anybody else I don't think it was the major conspiracy.
That you just did -- on -- -- if anybody recognizes this guy patty add.
It's gotta be somebody that has had a contractor in their home before and they're -- recognize them and all of our folks that really should call the police if they believe this guy could possibly be the person now the other evidence real quickly that I -- think they got out of that car.
Was probably DNA evidence and so once they get somebody that they can match the DNA to.
Then they'll they're gonna do that because that this guy with a career criminal is -- they would already be in the -- them and they would know this is so I don't think this -- a career criminal I think it was just the local guy they came out what some bright idea that try to extort money out of cal and his family.
Right just like sort of a crime of opportunity women -- this is now Ripken's mom what right do with this but.
He obviously then felt compassion.
Felt some kind of regret if your theory holds out and I -- -- Not to break Seattle -- -- I don't think he was ever up planning on harming Cal's mom I really don't I think he just really wanted to try to get the money that's what I believe.
So -- I'm going with that theory entirely and not the theory that may -- she was a random victim that he just -- an elderly woman and thought.
Now I I don't think she -- a random victim in real quickly and I would have a lot of time of the reasons he was not random is because this with a premeditated event.
This guy was waiting outside her house in new that the woman had to come out the garage so in the garage door opened up.
That's when he roster and then that's when he kidnapped or so that's what the plan -- this -- probably even thinking about it for few days.
And he decided that that day was got to be the day that he decided to do this.
-- well Ripken says -- security has been beefed up and they are on the alert Rod Wheeler thank you so much for joining us.
Sir thank you patty afterwards --
