I have pay taxes every year and a lot of Texas a lot attack.

So -- is simply wrong and that's why I'm so anxious friend of give us the names.

Of the people who -- have put this forward I wouldn't be at all surprised to hear the names are.

People from the White House -- that Obama campaign or who knows where they're coming from.

Well here's the response governor Mitt Romney fights back against accusations from senate majority leader Harry Reid the senator boldly attack the governor from the senate floor.

Here's what Reid said.

The words out that he hasn't paid any taxes for ten years.

But -- prove that he has paid taxes because he hasn't.

We already know for one partial tax return that he gave us he has money hidden Bermuda the Cayman Islands and a Swiss bank account.

Not making that up that's an -- year that he gave us.

Mitt Romney makes more money in a single day.

Than the average middle class family makes him two years.

But the problem is senator Reid has not put up any evidence proving governor Romney failed to pay taxes for a decade.

The governor's asking where's your proof senator -- joining us now former Arkansas governor and host of vases governor Mike Huckabee thank you governor appreciate your joining us.

Thank you Doug what do you make of this tax a problem.

Alleged by senate majority leader Reid.

Yeah I think Harry Reid has embarrassed himself he's embarrassed the Democratic Party in the United States senate.

You don't go on the senate floor and you make baseless allegations about a person who's the nominee of his party for the presidency unless you have something other than.

This imaginary friend of his who apparently whispered in his -- And tell them about Mitt Romney's tax returns here here's the thing that I find amazing Harry Reid won't release his tax returns.

And -- is calling on Mitt Romney to show -- ten years' worth which the law doesn't require.

Mitt Romney's -- release more tax returns in the law requires he's still a lot of all the necessary.

Federal Election Commission documents regarding financial disclosure.

Harry Reid needs to either announce this name and give us some evidence including some documents.

Our needs to apologize not just to Mitt Romney he needs to apologize to his colleagues on the senate floor.

For desecrating the honor of the United States senate do you realistically expect that to happen.

Now because I don't think Harry will do that but he should you know the because they had defamed his character his lawyers got in touch -- and and they issued Mia culpa.

Because they had to.

I think Harry Reid ought to do it he ought to do it out of the honor of -- not because some legal consequence hangs over his head but no I don't expect him to do it because that would require integrity.

I asked Andrea -- -- all askew.

If Romney were to release these tax returns it would be a slam -- it would be a huge embarrassment to the majority leader why does -- do it.

Well I think first of all Mitt Romney has made it clear that he's paid the taxes videos I've said it this way I want a president who was honest enough to pay the taxes he knows.

But I don't want one who's so stupid -- pay a bunch of taxes.

Did he didn't have to pay.

I don't think any American would think that's a brilliant thing to do.

Most people are not kind of understand Mitt Romney's tax returns.

Fact -- most people don't understand their own tax returns so if he pulls those out there and shows the world.

It's just going to be fodder for the Democrats and nitpick and to try to make a big campaign issue out of every line -- what probably.

Will be hundreds of pages of tax returns.

And I think he wants to focus on what more Americans care about -- his tax returns and that's their own tax returns.

And how little income they're showing under the Obama administration's.

Economic policies.

Governor want to shift gears a little bit and it turned to the vice president to.

-- right now Mitt Romney has to be on the cusp of making that decision the convention is coming up and he has promised that he would make the decision before the convention.

-- Steve Hayes and Bill Kristol writing in the weekly standard the street who this weeks said this.

Pick Paul Ryan.

The Republican party's intellectual leader the man who's laid out the core of the post Obama politically -- -- a policy agenda.

And got his colleagues in congress to sign onto it or pick Marco Rubio.

The GG OP's most gifted young politician the man who embodies what is best about the Tea Party.

You concur with that -- that be wise decision either one of those young.

Either one of those guys are good that -- Rob Portman says Tim Pawlenty.

Do you get on and I think there's a long list of people he could thicken and they're gonna be good choices so you know I'm gonna trust the Romney team who's done a lot better research than.

Anybody riding for any publication.

That's my speculation on their part that they don't have the responsibility of picking someone.

With whom they can work not only in the campaign but then after the election.

So I'm gonna trust that the Romney team is thoughtfully pursuing this we'll make a good decision will want to behind it and does saluted when it happens.

The governor Romney is a guy who has never been accused of throwing a hail Mary pass in the first quarter on first down out of any football game.

He's deliberative he's cautious sums would say that he's risk averse and that that might lead to a a choice like Portman.

Or -- Pawlenty.

This.

Those guys are not huge television draws we certainly saw how -- -- in the Republican primaries is there a risk and picking a guy like that.

Well not really I -- I think that the key thing is personal comfort so that when they stand on the stage.

They're actually comfortable in the chemistry between the two of them.

That may be more important than any thing.

That sometimes people look at in terms of some policy nuance.

I think any of the people that we've been discussing are people with him that Romney would be comfortable in terms of the of the personal chemistry with them.

And somebody that he's not every day waking up and scared -- that they're gonna got to say something that he's gonna have to.

Dig himself out -- and I think all of those folks are good quality articulate spokesman for the conservative cause.

And -- are going to be outstanding picks and again.

-- however it turns out -- not I'm not gonna try to speculate as to who will pick.

But I but I think it's going to be a thoughtful choice not -- this -- -- emotional or impromptu decision but one that he's thought through very very carefully.

And made a methodical decision.

He has said that he wants to pick a guy who can be president of the United States and that seems to be the main criteria Governor Huckabee thank you very much -- good to see -- see -- done.
