But we -- now Fox News as America's election headquarters -- GOP announcing an all star lineup for this month's Republican National Convention in Tampa among the headliners.

Senator John McCain of course the nominee four years ago former secretary of state Condoleezza Rice and former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee as well speaking at the convention.

For the most prominent Republican governors there they are Florida's Rick Scott south Carolina's Nikki Haley Ohio's John K six.

And New Mexico's Susanna Martinez the keynote speaker though has yet to be announced joining us now to talk about it.

David Drucker of roll call and David you wrote a column about you're sort of top list of folks so want to.

Getting to that moment but.

These -- the big stars like John McCain and Condoleezza Rice and Mike Huckabee.

Why were they -- what does the party hope to accomplish -- Well Greg I think when you first we should note that the real keynote stars are not gonna be announced until after Mitt Romney makes his vice presidential pick because announce -- somebody like Chris Christie or Marco Rubio or Rob Portman.

Would sort of give away the store in that regard and so I think what we're seeing now are picks that are gonna help.

Mitt Romney in the Republican Party trying communicate a message.

And an image and that's why I think we're -- Susanna Martinez the governor of New Mexico she's female she's Hispanic.

She's very popular New Mexico despite the fact that Barack Obama's favor pretty well in the polls there.

It and it's another reason why I think you're seeing Condoleezza Rice African American female I think John McCain despite being the 2008 nominees.

Was really chosen because.

Romney's push on fighting this sequestration.

Of defense funds and I think they're gonna use John McCain to highlight that and try and make the president look weak on national security.

Right now yeah right you didn't mention and I do want to ask you about Florida governor Rick -- very.

Unpopular in some of the recent polls in Florida and yet -- as a key swing state for governor Mitt Romney.

-- nobody likes Rick Scott but he's the host governor so he's gonna get a slot I don't think it'll be.

At a time when too many people -- watching but you can't ignore the host governor when he's of your party all right now noticeably missing -- -- made reference to this.

Is are some of -- a potential GOP.

Vice presidential contenders let's put him up on the screen.

Governor Tim Pawlenty senator Rob Portman senator Marco Rubio.

Representative Paul Ryan governor Bobby Jindal.

On now these you're not designated yet is that simply because there on the short list for -- Correct.

Whoever is the vice presidential nominee is is of course going to get the Wednesday night nomination speech for that slot right not -- naming anyone as a keynote from that list includes Virginia governor Bob McDonnell.

It would mean if they're out of contention and that would be the news frenzy here so I think that the real stars.

Or people at least that have been very very helpful the Romney and -- on the short list are not going to be.

Given anything if they're gonna get until after that announcement is made what about the losers in the primary they're gonna be -- -- call them losers and they know winning.

But Michelle Bachmann.

Bob are they gonna speak at all are they gonna be Sean what's the deal.

Well I think it depends there are only so many spots available Rick Perry is still -- very successful governor of a big Republican states.

So I wouldn't be surprised to see him.

I don't know if Ron Paul get a slot but that's simply because I don't know if he's going to.

So early and whole heartedly endorsed Mitt Romney in public but I think senator Rand Paul.

Who has endorsed Mitt Romney could get a slot and -- -- -- -- Rick Santorum it just depends on whether he's willing to to stick to a script that is basically vetted by the Romney team.

And praise Mitt Romney.

Thoroughly and and you know with bigger than if he's willing to do that.

Now we might see him but everybody who speaks all the way down to dog catcher and they all have to talk about why the nominees the greatest thing -- -- since sliced bread.

And how they're gonna and he'll make everything better and the other guys horrible.

That that's your job when you speak at the convention in addition to introducing yourself -- taking advantage of the national spotlight don't underestimate the dog catcher.

-- David Drucker thanks very much good to see is -- things.

Any time Greg.
