It's OK I want to get back to politics now time for our weekly audience with the open politics.

Good to see you Jonathan -- just chatting with Cal Thomas about the whole us senator Reid.

And governor Romney's tax returns it is a pretty extraordinary story and now.

I guess -- out there of people on the hill who are saying senator Reid is the one who's lying here Aaron.

Needs to tell the truth.

That's right senator Lindsey Graham said that that Reid is lying also -- -- the the -- of the RNC.

Called him a dirty liar and then did not back off on that and then this morning Nancy Pelosi -- telling the Huffington Post that.

Harry Reid is is correct and that if Harry Reid says something he's he means it he's not lying.

And of course this is is is -- -- up this issue which show Romney has not been able to deflect.

About releasing more of his tax return so Republicans -- certainly seeing this as a as a dirty political trick.

But to keep this in the news and and it hats.

Inevitable politics from the Democrats here it's it's an issue that they feel that they do have.

Some ammunition to fire at.

Governor Romney nine I guess that they historically speaking -- would I be right in saying that presidential candidates have released ten years and more of tax returns.

Mean some have moment John McCain only did two years and that's something -- -- pointed out recently.

And he also didn't really.

I said there's no way because Democrats have said well the reason why McCain didn't pick Romney is VP was -- -- -- tax returns John McCain says that silly that's ridiculous.

He picked Palin because he wanted to go -- -- and go for the hail Mary and had nothing to do this tax returns self.

But you know this is an issue where where taxes should be a strength for Republicans.

But Democrats are going after Mitt Romney in and going after that his his his plan doesn't add up -- You know it's been a tough couple weeks -- for Mitt Romney until until today honestly what Lenny when he got the that we got the news that that he had raised over a hundred million dollars again in July.

Yes and yes so what was it 101 point three dollars -- middle yes million dollars total that's that's pretty impressive.

It is impressive and it's it's he's -- present Obama for the third month in a row he -- -- -- by 25 million.

In July and then you go back to June it was 35 million so.

This is quite astounding Ann and Mitt Romney had a you know had a rough trip overseas.

Couple gas.

But this is big news and it is definitely gotten the attention the Obama campaigning who would've thought we'd be.

Three months away from the election and talking about -- Mitt Romney out raising.

A president mom and I think it's one of the reasons why more Republicans didn't get in the race against Romney in the primary.

Is because -- whether it's 2008 and certainly this year Mitt Romney knows how to raise money.

And it would.

-- doesn't make it that much of a difference though -- that both raising.

-- all full lot of money is a bit more than an all full law significant.

In this race.

I think it is just because it's a win -- the incumbent.

Gets outrage especially an incumbent President Obama so this will be the first time.

This happens -- obviously he's trying to gin up support.

From his base to give him more money.

-- they have a super pacs in and that conservative super pacs have more money than the liberal super pacs and and that crush of money that we've seen already we're gonna see a big time.

In the fall so this is going to be a major advantage for present Obama is the so called billion dollar candidates not gonna get to a billion dollars.

And Mitt Romney now out raising and three months in a -- that's pretty significant but you right I mean they both have the money to get their message yet.

All right and it.

That weird also now hearing about.

GOP convention.

What do you make of it is -- a powerful list a list -- that is looking one particular way or another -- ball.

Well the thing is I think Gagnon John McCain is gonna start off the weekend and we obviously yet Chris Christie is gonna be the keynote speaker.

But the questions remain -- who else is going to be who is going to speak will Rick Santorum speak will Newt Gingrich speak will Ron Paul speak.

And of course will Donald Trump speak this so.

These are questions that have not yet been answered we've seen a couple names.

Like John McCain that obviously who is expected but.

But will the other rivals of -- Ronnie -- the primary.

But will they get a chance to address a convention -- that is something that -- without -- -- they've decided yet.

And obviously -- the Ron Paul supporters who are not fond of of Mitt Romney are they going to be.

-- -- gonna cause kind of a problem for Mitt Romney in Tampa this summer that that's that's a concern I'm sure the Romney campaign hats.

All right so it and then who do you expect to be this sort of lineup for the Democrats.

Well I think the Democrats obviously -- have Bill Clinton playing a huge role that unanswered question that I I don't think.

Hillary Clinton because of her position.

As secretary of state is going to be attending and you know unless -- would resign she is not going to served in a possible second Obama term.

But I think Bill Clinton is gonna be a a major speaker.

We have the San Antonio mayor -- with Tino so -- the Obama campaign reaching out to Hispanics once again.

But the other ones I think -- going to be agency I add that you see Debbie Wasserman Schultz the head of that DNC.

By this as far as who else would be beyond Clinton.

We'll see Joseph Biden obviously going to be giving a speech and and he's had to deal with all this rumors that -- would replace him.

I think -- was have been put to rest now.

An old polls we see right now -- we love to watch them and follow them.

But all really in the end it doesn't mean anything until often we've had both of those conventions and then we see where role.

Settles.

Yeah that's right I mean it's gonna be fascinating to see what kind of bomb Romney gets remember the Republicans are up first.

Will he announce his VP pick I don't think it's going to be this week -- you have the Olympics but there's a lot of speculation on Capitol Hill.

That it will be next week -- -- half the Olympics.

And and that Romney will have.

-- the whole stage you can make a big announcement.

And then carry that possibly through the month of August to the convention now some Republicans say you should announce it at the convention because that's what makes it so compelling.

But but I think -- I think he's gonna go a little bit early and I think you possibly gonna see a VP pick next week.

Off to the -- saw as his government.
