Fox News is America's election headquarters governor Mitt Romney is taking the lead now in the all important money race last month with a national convention.

Just weeks away the Republican presidential candidate and the GOP announcing.

A fund raising haul of just over one million dollars in the month of July compared with 75 million for President Obama on the Democrats.

That makes the third month in a row that governor Romney has outperformed the president.

What does this mean in the race for the White House -- April is the editor of campaigns and -- magazine and joins us -- -- good to see -- it four years ago John McCain really struggled to raise money he was vastly outspent by candidate Obama things are reversed now.

And I'm wondering why is that it is Romney more adapted better organized it fund raising.

Are people me.

Angry with the economy and president of model what is it.

-- I think there's a few things that work great I think it starts with if you go back to 2008 sort of trying to put yourself in the mind of the democratic donor.

These were folks who had a tremendously high level enthusiast and for then candidate Obama the message of his campaign.

It fast forward three and a half years and three and a half years of of governing and in where the our economy is right now and unemployment rate of eight point 3%.

And simply said it the same level of enthusiasm to write that check whether it be for fifty dollars or 500 dollars not necessarily going to be there so I think that has a large -- You know that plays -- pretty well -- or your idea.

-- ask you about this having the in other -- there may be something to that a hundred in nineteen talking fund raisers this cycle that's more than the five previous presidents.

Combined and yet chain from everything I read.

The Obama campaign is you know big basically spend it all great they claim -- -- -- cash -- true.

Well we're gonna see what the burn rates going to be when we see the full a July report released later this month that's going to be a telling question just how much the Obama campaign is spending.

Compared to how fast it's coming moment.

That's -- are any indicator of of the overall financial health of the candidate begging for money.

Kind of good knows know -- propriety -- wanna.

Tell you about this when you know this one -- at their recent email pitch the president wrote this to his potential donors.

Well my upcoming birthday next week could be the last one I celebrate his president of the United States but that's not up to me it's up to you.

And then Cheney in a separate fund raising ploy he posted a blue dog a wrote this down.

As his gift to people out there he'll let them.

Donate a portion of their birthday gift money.

-- him.

Have you ever -- like this.

-- you know I think when you're trying to raise money online in in small dollar amounts had been more creative or the more interesting sometimes the better.

Those are both creative and interest -- appeals.

You know I think that overall.

He.

When you look at it the amount of money that -- the president's campaign has vs the amount of money that Mitt Romney's campaign as they keep going forward.

Is going to be how much the president has to spend on the airwaves to sort of level the playing field here I he spent a tremendous amount so far nothing compared to what Mitt Romney has spent Mitt Romney spent significantly.

Less money advertise -- on television yet still.

You know that anti Obama message is loud and clear because of all the money from the outside groups say all right I think that's what's -- the White House.

I've got to switch subjects to something we just learned from the Democratic National Convention committee obviously in charge of convention in in North Carolina.

They have just announced they Jimmy Carter the former president will be speaking in prime time no less now.

You -- -- Jimmy Carter.

Lost in a landslide.

-- For re election for the very same reason that seems to be troubling in the reelection of President Obama and Jimmy Carter -- -- is regarded by a great many people -- you know not one of the better modern day presidents.

What is the wisdom.

-- him address the convention and the inevitable comparison.

And perhaps negatively that will be drawn to President Obama.

I'm not sure what the -- is there Greg but I guarantee you are I would predict at least that it's probably going to be a very short turnaround.

Before we see a web video from the Republican National Committee here did the Romney campaign to ridiculing this choice of that former President Carter speaking at the convention and making that -- he's gonna be doing quite a videotape does that Alter the equation.

Is it alters it a little bit you know he's done that before and by videotape and and at at previous conventions have.

It's different then having the former president walking out on the stage and and being a larger -- the centerpiece of the event but I certainly add those negative comparisons have been very quick to come from the RNC and -- round.

Change -- April editor of campaign and elections magazine always good to see that.
