-- and welcome to the 2 o'clock hour here on the West Coast on the East Coast -- and I just tweeted that people on the West Coast need to watch that's -- that came from.
My name's Laura Ingle originally from the West Coast welcome here.
To the owl -- the half hour of tech take and I'm very happy to be with you today and also to introduce -- really fun for me because I've never hosted this half hour before.
I get to hanging out with this gentleman that you see here on -- Robert -- Fox Business we've never had an opportunity is to talk before so this is a great opportunity for me to ask you about what's going on -- start off this hour with what's happening.
With FaceBook now a lot of people just go on FaceBook check the news -- -- your friends did over the weekend you know -- the babies up to.
This week but there's a lot going on underneath the surface both with the with the stock market and also with employees tell us what's going on.
Yeah that's right there all other guy -- in place for -- thanks for inviting me on that quest but -- a lot going on under the -- I'll and it changes the timeline things that people have seen at home but.
A lot of key personnel have been leaving the company over the past few weeks and this is.
Typical for a sort of -- they're no longer a start up they've been around for you know a number of years -- eight years now and they've gone public company go public of course peoples are cashing in.
And time to move out on their on and take their big ideas -- recognized maybe by the -- are -- today and it FaceBook.
At some of the folks that lost what are the key ones Bret Taylor the chief technology officer left over the summer time to start his own company.
You know doubt we'll see more this crawls show green hopefully I didn't -- that -- -- be -- graft product commander he's RD out.
You've got a couple more that are leaving too and people are focusing in on this.
And we can get to the stock -- -- -- but for the mobile and the marketing aspects -- are some places that -- taken a lot of criticism but before the IPO incensed that.
They also Ethan -- as a liaison with some of the top app makers are trying to bring more apps on the keep you in FaceBook -- sort of going elsewhere or.
You're going on here I find playing an -- -- outside of Facebook's.
The FaceBook -- if you want to write that.
And -- admitted she's a platform marketing director so -- someone who's -- trying to get people on to generate revenue and and that's.
In the big -- there having face because this phenomenal lineup nearly a billion people worldwide.
Are registered with FaceBook pages.
The problem right I mean it's incredible I mean you talk to people out there and most of that other big networks Twitter -- the like me they're over a hundred million but no one is anywhere near 900 million right.
So you talk to that video -- -- -- is insiders analysts out there and that they'll tell you that FaceBook.
It's not too big to fail but it's almost too big because they have so many people there the question is how to make.
Money off of it without chasing everyone away they put up big cats or make you pay.
Those are barriers that may make people stop.
Coming is often so they're trying to find creative ways to do marketing and that's the big key here they're losing some of the people.
Who they had hoped would be you know they've been there for awhile 345 years they know that company culture they could bring in these partnerships and so when you go on and you play.
I game like words with friends or abuse or losing gay games the bills.
That you're staying on FaceBook and then you had some of the revenue shared from the maker of of the bills which is Zynga.
Back with FaceBook so you're you're going hanging out there have been here maybe pay to play a little bit longer are buying it a cow or whatever it is you do and that -- farm bill game.
I get so many of those requests -- I would somebody wants to play farm bill or give you something her.
Give you -- point I don't know there's a lot of that stuff going on right but is this in terms of I mean the list to substantial the names that you just mentioned are very substantial because of their ranking.
At FaceBook do you do you get the sense that these people are leaving in mass exodus because.
Of the stock prices because they want to have their own taste of success somewhere else is -- bad blood going on what's the word on the street.
No bad blood that's on the street a lot of it is just sort of the the need for like we have like -- -- -- -- wanna go do my own company he's probably been thinking about this for awhile and it's something that's not gonna Orkut FaceBook or he wants to be that guy.
Right he's worked for Mark Zuckerberg you know in his.
Is -- is sort of the tech genius who -- face but please be maybe he's picked up a few pointers and figure things out.
What -- to do his own company so he's gonna go and and a lot of these folks have cashed in they are cashed out every wanna say it with the IPO but on another.
Sort of tried to another wave of stock is about to come to the market because and some of the other boys who are maybe weren't quite as high up are now going to be able to sell their stock beginning next week.
And it's gonna go on and in sort of the there's periods like next week -- -- be one and a couple months of the couple -- that you're stressing more stock coming out onto the market which is not necessarily good for those who already have FaceBook shares but.
We get these guys an opportunity to sell it in cash out of the maybe they leave the company.
Let's take a look at the stock chart we have that we can put up for you now.
He could explain to us what we're seeing here because this doesn't look that's a pretty ugly chart -- -- usually wanna see things go from lower left upper right in this is the exact opposite right first doc started it debuted at 38 dollars a share they saw that it got up in to look forties.
Closing just barely about 38.
On the first day and has not been back there since then and you can see where it's been going pretty much straight down in this has been.
Right before the IPO yeah there was a little bit of controversy because they told some of the analysts -- the companies -- we're selling the shares are growth is slowing down.
And there's there's been some lawsuits filed.
By investor -- saying well that wasn't really widely disseminated it BB didn't hit the financial press -- didn't get out widely to.
People who are buying up shares of FaceBook thing it's the next -- or not.
-- the next Google what's gonna go to the -- never what you people you know you've read these stories about people who.
You know maybe took out another mortgage or use the cut kids' college fund and -- FaceBook it's going up like Google and off we go and then clear and clearly it's gone in the opposite directions have.
Did that slowdown in the revenue growth and they've -- -- reported their first quarterly report as a public company recently said group revenue growth was lawyer actually had a net loss of -- 157 million dollars part of that though.
Is due to some of the stock options and then some of the -- -- -- it wasn't a clean report in that respect but nonetheless we -- see revenue growth is slowing mean they've got 900 million people.
It's -- they're trying to expand.
Costs a lot of money -- to keep reinvesting a lot of -- so the key here is held again to get the money and particularly for those who use the iPhone.
Or an android or anything to access FaceBook because right now there aren't a lot of ads in there.
And they have started sponsored stories like you -- in your Twitter feed.
But I get to meet someone who's actually seen one on there a FaceBook.
Right I have -- -- -- -- in the sounds like you know all the turmoil that you're talking about the changes going on.
So I think that this could be a good reality TV show inside expecting to get some cameras and to some relatives at a big Brothers -- it's almost the same in some respect -- very your radical continue to watch this who want to thank Robert Gray Fox Business.
-- being here will look for you on face that the ads on Twitter yes right that's right find out you're going to be on -- back here.
On the -- so thank you so much for being thank you look really appreciate it all right so we're going to move forward to our next topic which is talking about how you can stay safe.
When using apps now a lot of people are very in apps that you can't wait to get the next want.
And of course what's the hottest thing happening right now the Olympics a lot of people downloading ways to find out what's going on in the Olympics.
But a lot of people are watching you how you're doing that so right now we want to introduce you are Mondale.
Or resigns so I hope I said that right maybe maybe you say your last name forming.
-- I was close though it.
-- -- are right arm on those so we're here to talk about tips while staying safe you are a threat research analyst.
But with web -- in Denver Colorado thank you very much for joining us here today.
So many people can't get enough of what's happening with the Olympics turning to their Smartphones what do we do to stay safe -- what's going on -- other problems.
Yeah what we're finding is that there are problems with some of the applications specially when you veer off.
The legitimate markets -- reputable markets like Google play or the the Amazon store even Apple's App Store -- -- -- people are trying to.
Get you to you know seduce you into downloading this application that is Armenia has updates for.
The medal counts or maybe they -- -- -- and videos you know previous event.
And it behind the scenes but to be doing is -- send some premium that's SMS messages or maybe they want to start rifling through your SMS messages to see what.
Kind of -- years and now as well as looking at your contacts and capturing that data as well they really were just want to get access to your personal information.
I feel like we are constantly getting warnings about how to stay safe online but yet as you mention it's still happening and people are still getting tricked.
Whether it's -- a bank Phishing scam or something like this I understand that you have some tips for what users can do.
To protect themselves and we'll put that up on the screen and maybe walk us through that.
Yeah I can see the screen -- gaz -- officials some of the yes -- official and that's what we want to do is encourage you to download apps from official markets like Google play and Amazon.
And Apple's App Store because it -- We know that you know those developers they really take the time and and one make sure that there I'll send you -- malware so you know the chances of that being a little bit -- -- are pretty sure and and then also there are developers at our top rated which you'll be informed and you could.
Kind of suggests that you know that is reptile application.
And long we say do your homework and that probably means a little bit more then.
Just checking out something online -- really got to dig around a little bit to make sure right.
Yet you know what we mean by -- your -- is really when you look at the application you're going to download.
Look at the reviews that people have given a lot of times -- you know people wanna let other people know that.
You know this is socially so they're really going to say OK well you know this is -- crappy app or this is apt has -- -- it and they're really gonna inform you that.
This is company priced veer away from and then also you could also look at the developer and and look at their track record.
You take a look at some of their other applications or even if they have like thousands of apps associated with them that's a little little curious.
And you might want to stay with from that as well because they're just.
You know turning out apps it's.
They're not really looking you know improve your -- -- experience and then the next really important one is to look at permissions in this is really.
I'm -- towards android because they they have this permission model and make it visible to the customers.
But I'm if you look at the permissions you can read what type of access this the application wants to your phone like they want to read your estimates -- send your estimates.
Make -- -- calls things like that so.
And it's really good just have take that little extra time to look at the application.
And also you recommend of course people elect me you love to call what we call -- -- the help desk get help.
Ask for help.
Did definitely get get help and and you probably want to get help -- from.
You know mobile security vendor benders like us or even their -- the third party applications that are really associated mobile security vendors that they will.
They have you know included in the application -- look.
At the app and give you hints on 10-Q this is app is a little suspicious because it it has this permission and in this -- -- overlook -- or maybe the updated any added new permissions.
And sometimes we get so many applications on our phones that we just start to overlook them and kind of you know forget there is a security -- -- involved so have an app that you know kind of has a little actress layer of how that is is really useful.
I armada thank you so much for those steps and we want people to be able to find you easily your web site is web -- dot com.
And we can find you on Twitter at web -- exactly -- way.
Click on that gets your website find you guys.
And get these very important tips to so many people eat out especially when.
Everybody's just excited about the Olympics and going through -- trying to download everything's fast they can't so they can be the first to know.
So we look forward to looking at the traffic on your website and talking to you today thank you so much for all your help.
Great thank you thanks for being with us -- -- -- take a quick break we'll be right back.
Hi and welcome back here talking about tech.
Everything everything that you can imagine we've been talking about face that we've been talking about how to stay safe.
Downloading apps and now we want to talk about how social media has been playing out in our recent news cycles some things -- we have been reporting about here.
On Fox News I'm sure that you've heard about two.
Very high profile stories.
The first is chick filet and about a guy who want to drive through and was harassing.
A nice cashier he videotaped the whole thing the video went viral he's now lost his job and also what happened when there was a threat on Twitter.
To a New York a Broadway theater and NYPD tried to get the information of this person on Twitter who was threatening to come up.
And do an a Rorer style massacre.
And Twitter did not disclosing information to the NYPD initially.
Two very hot topics going on in social media world and here to talk to us.
About what's been going on is Fred TC.
Former assistant US attorney Andy is joining us live via satellite.
From Mark Fox affiliate and Philadelphia thank you so much for being here with us today thank you very much -- -- me today all right so let's.
That's about NYPD thing first of what's what's happening on Twitter because -- wasn't -- scary thing for so many people to read obviously everybody.
Saw what happened in Aurora Colorado.
The deadly shooting at that movie theater and -- know that somebody's out they're threatening to do something here in New York.
At any anywhere really and that Twitter didn't automatically say yes this is a credible threat we're gonna hand over the information they instead say.
That there wasn't enough information to even prove that this is credible.
What what -- I and I understand that the problem's been resolved sense but.
But still how that delayed -- information to the NYPD blue is so they could stop what might be coming.
What are your thoughts on that.
-- -- -- a lot of thoughts about that let me -- -- the first thing that really really bothers me about that is a Twitter takes a look at this and come to the conclusion.
That somehow that this isn't a problem you know thank goodness for Twitter that between the -- NYPD regionally as for the information.
And the time they turned it over at that there was a shooting didn't take place on -- -- I used to be a federal prosecutor and I prosecuted terroristic threat cases including terroristic threats.
They were directed to the local newspaper.
It when you're a law enforcement you have the luxury of not taking these types of threats seriously and when the NYPD went to Twitter and for Twitter to kind of step -- mincing no.
I thought was outrageous.
You know well before they did comply with the subpoena want to read what Twitter -- told NYPD in an email.
Quote we appreciate the timeliness -- sensitivity of this matter and -- have reviewed the reported Twitter account.
We do invoke emergency disclosure procedures when it appears that the threat is present specific.
And immediate this is not appear to fall under those strict parameters as per our policies.
Now again this is somebody who was sending out tweets saying you know the -- no joke.
A minute pulled -- -- style.
You know shooting -- static kill somebody I mean these are I I can't think of anything more specific that the guy named that -- -- woman named the theater this city.
What he wanted to do know.
How much more specific do they need to get.
Eight patent and you raise -- perfectly good point in the answer is no more specific and and what's more troubling and we would kind of annoys me is a prosecutor issues that the -- experienced a Twitter has with dealing with these types of issues is zero.
And he asked for information concerning the subscriber.
At that point Twitter should just said -- what were social media company were not anti terrorist group or not.
We're not -- we're not the police were not the FBI they should just turned it over.
Right well do you think that you know now they have and of course thank goodness we have avoided.
Any kind of horrible situation.
But in the future moving forward should these social media companies be required should the should there be stricter enforcement.
Of turning over this type of information and a lot faster than what happened here.
That there there should be and I'll tell you right now thank goodness for Twitter that something didn't happen at the New York police department instruments because I'm a tea right now -- something that happened.
Twitter would have found itself -- -- named defendant in the lawsuit.
By the victims and their families saying that you knew about this if you let you should've done something -- you know what.
Approximately caused the injuries or death to our family members are they better there only orders but I think it.
Darn close look at this and make some seriously correct decisions right -- the situation certainly is infuriated a lot of people.
And so how is this video that went viral.
And who -- -- out in in Tucson.
And -- he was a man who made a viral video -- a patient restaurant worker.
Who was just trying to do her job this guy Adam Smith posted live video online of himself.
Going through chick -- drive through ordering only free water.
And actually ended up losing his job as chief financial officer of Vontae -- Tucson medical manufacturing company.
But lord knows why he made this video of himself -- posted online because it doesn't make him look very good.
And so this video goes viral and I'm sure you've seen it can you describe for us -- know what was your take on watching this guy.
Telling this is nice cashier you work for a horrible company how do you sleep at night with all that's been going on in the news about your play.
Wolf well table watching is -- -- it's in the constitution.
The law does not protecting namely stupid.
Okay so with this kind Dave Bush is flat.
Dom -- put aside what your feelings are everybody's entitled to their opinions on this one this chick -- issue and both sides are very passionate about the way they feel.
But what went.
It in a debate.
Part of the debate has to be kind of above the fray a little bit and what this guy did was just completely outrageous in the way he spoke during -- -- -- I mean I thought the woman.
Beautifully she never laughter cold she never became one professional with the guy.
And I you know I think she ended up looking very very good you know ultimately the guy tried to post he took it down and tried to post an apology.
Right and should she have -- apparently he went back to the store tried to apologize there.
To her and that she didn't want to talk to him but also now wants to talk to about how she handled himself and I just -- -- go.
Herself a wanna go back to what he said he said -- blazing hateful company I don't know how you sleep at night this is a horrible corporation with horrible values.
And again the employee Rachel she never ever loses her cool she says.
You know have a nice day were happy to serve you -- always your serve you I feel comfortable with -- filming me.
But please have a nice day news site I will have a nice -- -- the whole thing is so ridiculous and again.
He lost his job.
With and the CEO of the company Vontae said that they regret the unfortunate events that transpired between our former.
CFO treasurer Adam Smith.
Any employee chick filet effective immediately mr.
Smith is no longer an employee of our company.
Jobs are hard to come by I mean I I hope that he thinks that this was worth it.
-- I have because Terry you know it's interesting and in the guy's yelling and screaming or that his company is -- hateful thing.
And why he's doing anything -- in -- hateful act.
I mean what he did was just -- you have if you have an honest disagreement that's fine this like I said this is an issue about which two sides feel.
Very strongly and you want to disagree but you know something we need to learn to disagree without being disagreeable.
Quite frankly the only thing I salt pay for the whole thing with the way he conducted himself.
Right and you know what and I have to let you go Fred and thank you for being here with us thank -- the one thing that was also disturbing about the videos how he gleefully set it up.
He's getting rated right through the drive thirties like I'm about to go up to get my free water not gonna give this girl he's my mind I mean he really -- really sets himself up.
-- you know to to -- his personality the way it did.
-- red -- you good -- and law doesn't protect the stupid where -- people a bad judgment best line of the day.
Fred TC thank you so much for joining us we appreciate we'll see you again soon they they are you.
Are right -- and on to something fun and a way for us all -- look better feel better about ourselves.
We have -- -- here thank you so much for joining us on set.
And you are of course with foxnews.com.
We look forward to your articles and videos all the time.
And you're gonna tell us about some high tech beauty and getting rid of the extra jiggle and brighten up your smile so everybody pay attention because this is important.
-- -- It's technology so to -- me have these new ways to improve Iowa some lucky for us.
On these procedures which are done what the doctor.
Are now available and rent check them out and I have package and we'll chat about -- right let's check out.
Have a little extra arm digital planet look candles laser body sculpting may be just what you're looking far.
Most people that laser body sculpting or and pretty good physical shape they're not overly obese they might have areas of thought that -- just can't get rid of -- -- And exercise.
-- body sculpting is an alternative to traditional liposuction.
The advantages are that it can be done under local anesthesia.
The laser chills the blood vessels -- you do the procedure so there's very little bleeding and less bruising and requires tiny incisions that don't even close.
Depending on the target area the procedure can be as quick as thirty minutes -- take up to two hours.
There's a day or two of my own.
Bruising maybe it takes a little bit -- about your normal activities.
Laser works in three different ways one laser beam melts the -- The second laser being -- titans and he -- the -- who just skin tightening with the body sculpting.
And the third laser beam actually collectively it's a little blood vessels in the -- the little -- so again there's very little bruising comparative traditional liposuction.
If you want that extra spark a lot of tears smile filled zoom LED white speed can do the trick.
It's very safe.
And it's probably more effective than any of the -- our results show to appreciate brighter.
Then our previously.
For the first time and there is the land that is really nonsense I think land.
And here in New York -- for cosmetic industry were very concerned about patient comfort to -- the the -- is very cool.
Almost no he's going -- And what we want it right.
Using three doses of light and three applications of whitening -- the -- procedure takes about an hour for -- result.
-- -- this office we've also developed.
And quick way from windows.
And it's one dose with a with a -- like this is fantastic because there's no sense to me -- And that's perfect for touch.
An important engagement reunion.
-- an -- job.
A lot of people uses lunchtime.
And then you can do -- 34 times.
I like that you can do it at lunch time and again these are some really high tech ways when you think about.
Liposuction and be able to do it this way do we do we know how much all this costs.
You always -- when you can get a consultation with your doctor -- -- the body sculpting as well pricey.
Come it'll be upwards of -- thousand and more depending on the area how long the procedure will take in the office.
That's some honor local anesthesia so that again here and -- now bring quicker than you would be with liposuction and doctor -- says that his.
He gets a lot of patients that are like yoga instructors that I'll admit just focusing on that one area where they just just can't get -- Canada.
-- that's interesting to hear -- that.
You know even yoga instructors -- that -- to help doesn't make us feel so bad.
And then the teeth whitening that if you get the quick quite -- in an out of there 1520 minutes -- sit underneath the late and that's some really for people with sensitive teeth you know -- -- -- whitening strips that I do at home like -- will be.
Well that's -- -- -- drink hard cold right.
And I can't get them consistently every day is this a way to get that extra brightness -- -- -- -- right so we asked how much it costs for their for the Lazard do we know what about it.
That's -- It's up a hundred dollars an up.
I actually saw there's -- bonds and -- spots denying deals that I've seen for the Phillips Tim whitening and that presumed that bright light is out harmful in any way kids should certain people not.
Go under this special light you know the -- point that out and they.
They do assessed each patient as they come and see how sensitive -- -- -- -- but LEV light my hand was underneath that.
-- was really no heat coming out from underneath that some.
And they say do they say that the sensitivity then is is down.
Yes as opposed to when we do our white strips and I love this work in a hot hot hot hot topic so how can people find out more about.
I -- an article up on -- -- dot com you can check out these doctors specifically of their New York based or consult your local plastic surge and cosmetics -- -- wow what a fun assignment to gonna be able to tight end did you see a lot of people in the -- you lose when I did -- they are -- there are ready to go in I saw them before and after photos of these people on their true results and one of the big big things that you said that I think is so important for people now -- is just.
Getting getting getting out right because you know I actually know when my friends moms have liposuction she was in bed for weeks I mean it was it was -- as any bruising she was in pain at all so I think -- low paying.
In an out you know thousand bucks it is expensive but when you look at the big picture.
Maybe not that much -- that's what you need -- then he picked up.
God bless you in now if you want to do -- -- right well make baker thank you so much thank you for your article also treated out baker and me.
-- -- Good and you know what -- -- you working on what's coming up in the next week or so -- sun I -- next week we'll have some gadgets for kids talk so if you're handing over your gadgets very you know they're playing with your iPad your iPhone.
