The former Alaska governor joins us now live from Arizona governor great to see you today.
Thank you so much is an honor to get to speak with you all right let's talk about Paul Ryan what do you make of the pick and what do you think it'll do for the overall ticket.
Oh I'm excited that.
Now we have eighteen.
Romney Ryan that will.
Certainly.
The offer an alternative to.
The vision that Barack Obama and Joseph Biden -- for America where at the Obama ticket believes that growing government and taken away.
Personal freedoms and the of course wanting responsibility that comes with our freedoms taking matter -- from Americans.
And this.
Conflicted vision that will see on the other side is a sound that.
And secure vision for America that understands the free market that understands what it takes to get the economy roaring back to life.
Energy think did this take it will.
Garner little bit more support from folks like a Tea Party from very fiscal conservatives may be others who had not been completely sold on the idea of Mitt Romney.
Well I you know I think a lot of maybe Tea Party patriots have understood it wisely that that -- Yeah they've had -- it's you know of course they're going to go with anybody but.
Obama and now yes I believe that there will be strengthening more enthusiasm.
Because.
This now this ticket represents.
This message that this -- this the campaign is about the economy.
And with Paul Ryan who's known for his conscientious concern for our budget -- -- getting America out of debt.
This makes it tougher for Obama to do was continual distracting.
And -- eighty and -- -- off the economy because his ticket represents.
This campaign is about the economy.
So on a personal note what is life going to be like now for Paul Ryan and for his family and out of he's been thrust into this national spotlight -- -- you were four years ago.
Yeah and as I was thrust into this you know going from Wasilla.
To then national.
International stage with about forties preparation.
I believed that.
Paul Ryan will certainly be scrutinized he'll be vetted but.
There's a lot of us who will have his back.
And we will call out the media for their lives for their distortions as they try to -- his reputation and his record.
Felt she and -- and that yet.
It when I was thrust into that spotlight.
Didn't have a whole lot of people in and -- -- campaign who had my back and would correct the media they a lot of friends in the media they wanna jobs with the media afterwards.
They they didn't really defend what I really step forward what my record was all about -- didn't.
And came into my reputation was thrashed so I think Paul Ryan will be able to benefit from.
Those of us who perhaps have lived it and said all be darn -- the -- happens to him.
And with that four years ago the campaign.
I don't want any poor reflection on John McCain and Senator John McCain whom I dearly love and respect when it comes to any of that mistakes that were made.
When it came to that the VP pick four years ago.
Well and he set out on FOX News Sunday this morning you stand by that he thought you were a great pick for him it was a great ticket together.
I'm -- you clearly have his unwavering support as well.
-- -- about going into the convention now Woolsey a lot of different speeches from a lot of from folks.
But when they get ready to roll out the message.
What do you think governor Romney needs to say how do you think he needs to coalesce his -- -- communicate with voters out there especially independents and undecideds.
Oh it's all about the independent CNN that you know we don't have to just keep on preaching to the choir there the hard core base of fiscal conservatives within the Republican Party.
We got Romney's got -- got to reached the independents and let them know.
That there is an alternative to Obama failed policies and that what Romney and Ryan will represented what they will live out.
Is this idea that they're out to solve help solve America's problems are economic problems.
Thomas all had said once that the problem with politicians.
Is that they don't worry about other people's problems they're not out to solve.
Our problems -- up to solve their own in and Barack Obama's case his problem is how in the world can he get reelected with these dismal numbers.
That he has helped make even worse when it comes to the economy joblessness.
Mortgages.
That are underwater.
I had more more people on food stamps just taking away the entrepreneurial spirit of America so what what Thomas Sowell was sane and is you know what let's find politicians who truly are out to solve.
Problems now Paul Ryan has proven that he wants to solve problems he doesn't just throw stones.
He actually offers proposes solutions.
And alternatives to those failed policies from the far left.
