Worst economic recovery in seventy years.

Unemployment.

Has been above 8% for more than three years.

The longest run since the Great Depression.

Families are -- or higher unemployment.

Declining incomes and crushing debt is not -- new normal.

By now you've probably heard the vice president of -- Paul Ryan is serving his seventh term in congress.

But I hear a few things we bet you didn't know about congressman Ryan's -- thank.

During his early years in Washington he worked as a waiter and a fitness trainer and get best in college Ryan word for Oscar -- And yes he even -- the very famous -- -- but.

Back to congress and -- political career in the 1990s he was legislative director for -- Kansas senator Sam Brownback.

Brownback is now governor of Kansas and -- share Catholics for Romney he joins us nice to see governor.

Hey good to see you again Greta.

It but it must seem eleven peculiar tonight down to think that says that 25 year old or so kid that was on years staffer young man.

I mean may have to someday call mister vice president if he wins in November set that as that -- -- Well there is a little bit of -- has stood I think he was 24 when I hired a and we try to get him I think for 35000.

Dollars I don't think he would go for that.

Today on what he's been able to do with.

And he -- to did the position of legislative director I thought well how about senior legislative analysts and said now.

Maybe legislative director 24 by the youngest one on Capitol Hill and -- did a fabulous job for -- you could tell he was really have a committed principled.

Easy to work with young man that was gonna do great things for this country.

What he's surely is an -- and -- -- and -- -- won't fisherman he really liking crazies kind of numbers he he lives in Al during the week when he's not a home and was fast and the week he lives in his -- his office Annie sits around and and Obama's crunches numbers on my -- the budget.

Was he always that Soto walked fish.

Absolutely it he is a policy wonk.

-- -- they.

-- maybe I should say deer hunter mentality because he loves hunting as well.

But he is an unusual person and how much he's just passionate.

About policy issues but he he sees the impact on on on -- on People's Daily lives.

You know -- I really like about Paul and his policy -- commissioners.

Is he focuses on the big things he majors on the majors and right now he's got the only plan that's out there.

For how we as a country get through this fiscal crisis.

That we are -- and and get to the other side so we can produce a country that can.

-- the opportunity for our young children that we've had for our generation.

But you he wrote speeches there -- work project -- who was set outside candidate edited for for Brice president.

Abject camp -- survey is unique approach a lot economic -- we talked about enterprise zones and I'm sort of curious and to what extent our our empowerment zones and -- remember what he called it but he wanted to go into these -- communities that headset had no hope -- -- do some micro lending some partnership with a -- some other innovative ideas and I wonder if you know if before I just see ideas like that come out of congressman Ryan.

I think -- well I think you'll particularly C pro growth ideas because one of the key things we have to do and this nation is get the economy going again.

If we get -- going on a normal basis three or 4% growth rate which we can hit and we can do and sustain without inflation.

Your your your budget problems diminish.

Sixty to 75%.

Mean that the key piece of this is actually getting the economy really growing.

And now is when -- Paul was working for me and even his plans and he has now for an optional flat tax and it put forward.

That's a pro growth strategy which we have to have.

For us to be able to make it through this fiscal probably got to control our -- -- get our long term spending obligations under control.

But you've really got to get this economy growing and I think you'll see those sorts of policies.

Coming in for in and in the forefront a lot more in this campaign.

Well we will -- -- son as an economy because it's -- struggling so much this country about I'm curious he has a very little foreign policy experience and who and we we are part of vote a big world has.

Big problems your thoughts about that because governor Romney is now one who has you know great depth in foreign policy either.

So what are your thoughts about that because -- important part of the job.

I I think they're gonna do wonderful in that category.

And I say that because these are two bright people.

Who do have foreign policy experience is not the areas that they've majored in but they have majored in the areas -- where we have our biggest problems in their domestic.

-- on growing the economy which governor Romney really has an incredible expertise.

From this private side experience in what is done in public sight and sound control and and given our fiscal problems under control which Paul Ryan has the only legitimate planets out there.

And Greta -- had -- say what I should put that against what you see on the Obama team.

Where they've been in office for four years spent a mountain of money more than any president in that history of America.

We've got a lethargic economy that's not -- and no plan where's the plan for how you gonna deal with this fiscal crisis.

None has come -- from the Obama administration sort what I really hope Paul brings to this.

Is -- start to get this campaign focused between the two candidates.

How we gonna solve this big fiscal crisis that we -- -- with legitimate plans from the Obama team that would match those coming from the Romney team.

I was serve instead will have that report this in the past Paul Ryan is set I got passion from Jack Kemp.

I got -- from Bill Bennett and I got compassion and understanding from Sam Brownback so he's got to see a big fan of yours governor.

-- I'm a big fan says he's a great man and he's really as advertised.

Good family man.

Likes to go on and is passionate about his country he's gonna make a great candidate Manning a -- grade vice president.

-- -- the debate would Vice President Biden what secondly like does his serve a Vice President Biden in the senate.

Yeah I think that's the only one worth so on popcorn for -- actually.

As you have -- -- said he's so good thinker.

Tiny percent sit very well.

And now and Joseph talks pretty well.

But I think when -- clash the two ideas there's just not a substance on the side of where the Obama team is when you get to the real issues.

How are you gonna deal with Medicare.

And Social Security how are you gonna get this economy grow and when you haven't done anything this past four years what's the plan.

And then you put out the Ryan plan and they're gonna attack the Ryan plan -- say okay I see you're attacked what is your plan.

And I hope the American public then we'll see that there isn't one and we can't go into this another four years.

Without dealing with this or we're gonna be in the same position that Europe's in right now.

We will be there if we don't start dealing with these problems.

Governor thank you.
