It certainly is a hassle that most of us don't look forward to and it's probably familiar to you to as many as forty million Americans relocate each year that hassle is moving.

Many turned to professional movers to make it relocating easier but I know who you can trust.

In today's take charge consumer protection segment I wanted to give you a chance to spot bogus movers before they get their hands on your stuff.

Enter my studies -- senior vice president of enterprise programs for the council of better business bureaus and he's dealt with this issue.

Far too often thanks for being with us Rodney.

Thank you Jamie what are the most comments.

-- when it comes to movers.

Well one of the problems that you see with movers is that you're dealing with.

Business is it just pop up they're not long term businesses.

And so there there just to take the money and Iran and so they don't care about their customers or ongoing relationships.

-- because usually it's a one time thing you don't over all that often even though forty million Americans do it each year August is a big month for that before school begins.

They are license though aren't they what questions should you -- Ask you should ask if they are license and you can check that on protect your move dot gov which is a website.

You can also go to BBB dot org.

Where you'll be able to pull up the reports that we have on over 171000.

Businesses.

And there you'll be able to see the past experiences.

That consumers have had with moving companies and see if they are ones who are problematic or if you're more likely to have a good experience.

And the one thing that I imagine happens far too -- -- give them your stuff they give you an estimate of what it will cost and then when you are.

Your belongings arrived at the location you're moving to they tell you completely different and higher price yet many -- course and that's situation.

Yes you do and and there's a couple of things you can do there's two different types of agreements there's a binding.

Agreement and a non binding agreement if you getting binding agreement they have to live up to the dollar amount that was set there.

If it's a non binding agreement then you.

Can go ahead and you should be prepared to pay an additional.

10% over that agreement and they have thirty days to work it out and -- we would suggest you do is then contact people like the Better Business Bureau.

So that we can help you AMD mover work that out.

Finally what kind of insurance can you buy do you buy insurance from the -- will your homeowners cover the loss or damage to any of your goods.

When you're when you're doing this you want to look at the coverages and are available through your -- -- you can get full coverage which we recommend especially if you are.

Moving heir looms and things that you really are concerned about.

You don't want to be left with what the limited coverages which is sixty cents on the pound because that's not gonna replace your LCD TV.

You know question I -- and I will never get back Rodney my grandmother's table linens that is the one box.

They said they couldn't find but thank you so much I hope nobody else has an issue with their movers have and we hope they won't we hope they won't as well.
