Questions today about what President Obama calls a new vision for America.
In comments on Sunday the president said we need to go back to what he describes as a time when prosperity was shared.
Take -- listen.
Too many folks still don't have a sense.
That tomorrow will be better.
Than today.
And so.
The question in this election is which way do we go do we go forward.
Towards a new vision of an America in which prosperity -- or do we go backward.
-- the same policies that got us in this mess in the first place.
You know.
I believe we -- Opel.
I believe we've got to.
Keep working to create an America where no matter who you are no matter what you look like no matter where you -- wrong.
No matter what your last name is no matter who you love.
You could make it here it's -- In the last 48 hours some political commentators have suggested that -- sounds similar to them.
To what we heard from mr.
Obama back in 2008.
When he said this to Joe The Plumber.
I'm working out and pulled out -- but -- I another truck and that someone else to wouldn't you know.
Build the company you know I'm getting taxed more and more it's not that I want to punish your success and we'll make sure that everybody.
Who is behind it but they've got a chance to access to everybody's okay and that businesses red -- And I think what -- global.
It's good.
Joining -- now Leslie Marshall a syndicated radio talk show host and the Fox News contributor.
And Lars Larson a syndicated radio host on compass media networks why are you -- Lars.
There's -- -- -- -- -- lastly is gonna offer to share some of prosperity of her doctor husband -- but he makes more money than I do what this is this at least I'll tell you what I'll compliment the president.
He's consistent.
He's been talking about spreading other people's wealth around using the government's power of the IRS for years and he is still consistent today he wants to spread the prosperity around through government the fact is the marketplace spreads prosperity just fine.
Bill Gates comes up with a great idea becomes a billionaire thousands of people become millionaires because of him and tens or hundreds of thousands of people get fantastic jobs because of him.
And now the president wants gunmen and re distribute some of that wealth at the point of a -- it's crazy.
Leslie there's spend the theme from this president what we know from 2008 where he said we need to spread the wealth around to now 2012 where he says -- need to share the prosperity.
To just the few weeks that -- months ago when he said we need to be our brother's keeper.
And you know.
Talked about how -- -- legal side it's kind of long but -- talks about how we need to look out for one another we're all in this together I am my brother's keeper I -- my sister's keeper.
And that's how spot in the abstract but when you string them together it -- creates a belief by some like Lars that he's talking about half a taking up from some people and giving to others.
What are you hurting Harry wants to take for my husband analyzing makes far less than you do trust may -- -- -- And this and this comes down to once again and I I know we hate this phrase those on the right.
It takes a village or to whom much is given -- are acted this is not you're right -- got a -- -- There -- not a new theme with the president.
It is that in this same press.
Going for -- what what I hear from network me.
Is that we we need to release the lines of business but there -- some those blinds a business years ago we saw what happened with Wall Street.
We saw what happened with the banks and we saw what happened -- this country not just the jobs.
But with our economy and what the president is talking about why those corporations giving back to this country lies -- in sourcing instead of outsourcing.
Do you know right now the State Department has issued 6000.
-- -- visas that's the highest that's a record breaking number that means foreign investors are willing to invest in America.
What's wrong with a foreign investment willing to invest -- with in America and invest in Americans and American -- -- the rich will invest in America one robot when the Obama regulations are back down this -- that Megan this is the problem I'll bet there were plenty of people -- Albany Law School who tried real hard and didn't become successful lawyers like you the president wants this thing that guarantees success.
America guarantees opportunity what you do -- that opportunity is up to you and unfortunately a lot of people try hard.
And are not successful but the opportunity is there so the president wants to go beyond that just equal opportunity and say if you don't succeed will take some of the money or other things from the people who did succeed and we'll give it to you -- Tell us because he's also taking heat today for making comments about how the rich are very fortunate and -- -- -- their very lucky.
And not.
-- success in in the weight at large to -- you know that -- result of hard work in fact.
We talked recently about how he made comments about how I love these successful people who just think they're so Smart.
Or they're just so hard working and you know that that led to build you didn't build that comment that's been you know such such a topic -- if if if it.
What will certainly you know less keeps talking about it and a lot of people on the right will say that the you know the president is anti business and wants to.
You know take the Robin Hood vs the Rodney hood.
But the reality Lars is when and you continued to have bush tax breaks credits whenever you want to call them.
And you say we need those because you know these private sector CEOs are the ones that create the wealth -- -- in this country they create the jobs but they have been in those continue to go on.
When we did -- have the blinds as you say.
The shackles if you will on business as you paint the picture that I don't believe is entirely true of the president and that we saw quite frankly.
Not in bondage if you will during the George W Bush Administration yet we -- The unemployment rate go off after he took office and and and once the president took office -- continue to go up and temporarily.
And then.
You also have -- those others saying what a minute you don't get -- had to know binds you have the bush tax credits in this shipped the jobs overseas and didn't and wrestling the economy and I did not create more -- somewhere.
And -- knows very well but what happened to the economy is largely the fault the government for -- around by spreading success there were people like auto Barney Frank who said let's make sure everybody can buy a house even if they can't pay the money back and that created a bubble or help to create a bubble the government holding interest rates down artificially handing out money to people who couldn't pay it back and were put -- And -- -- Longstreet was allowed to trade at a house of cards.
Yes they work that house of cards created by the government if the government hadn't put its stamp of approval on those mortgages believe -- Wall Street would have looked -- -- more carefully but instead Wall Street said well -- Uncle -- put his stamp on this they're supposed to be good mortgages so that's part of the problem of the street here but again Leslie hasn't addressed this idea the president's idea of shared prosperity is to take from one -- and give to another and as for the tax -- -- -- you know as well as I do those tax cuts were given out in the proportion that people -- Rich people pay a lot of taxes they got a big break the 47% of Americans who pay zero yes they got zero break because they're already not paying taxes.
Diet that guy guy got to run always a good debate with you to thank you both so much Leslie large -- -- made Laviolette finally I think and they need it.
All of fox -- American election headquarters of the --
