-- -- top story tonight what about Florida with this 29 electoral votes to recent polls say different things quinnipiac has -- Obama at 51% Mitt Romney 45.

But -- PPP survey.

Puts a president at 48 Romney 47 a virtual talk.

Joining us now from Washington Fox's analyst Charles Krauthammer should tell me who's gonna win in Florida Charles.

I knew I'd be rich -- there wouldn't be here I'd be in the Caribbean.

I'm mighty -- look I think it's very true that Ryan there's a risk.

But I think he's got a real -- -- the risk is obviously -- the Democrats will succeed.

In defining him as some wild -- extremists.

By saying to seniors and flower hill abolish.

You Medicare -- little -- granny in the snow.

Now it seems to me that is so factually false because the Ryan plan and the Romney plan do nothing do not affect whatsoever.

Anyone out over not only over the -- 65.

But early age of 55.

That as long as you can drilling in that one fact.

You have deflected that entire line of attack the other way to -- -- other than the facts.

-- to bring out Paul Ryan.

Paul Ryan you can demonize him is an extremist most Americans.

The overwhelming majority never heard of him until Saturday.

You bring out the guy he's extremely affable he's non threatening he's very sensible these young looking.

He's an attractive guy it's like Reagan in that first debate with Carter and only debate.

With Carter where you know he'd been demonized as this extremist and the post people forget.

The polls were very close Carter and Reagan after the debate to -- reset to Carter there you go again showed himself not to have horns.

The election was over -- became a landslide.

Now Ryan does not have Reagan's charm.

But he's not threatening and he's very Smart I think the one thing Romney's got to do right now.

Unleash Paul Ryan let him go and every interview show now yeah.

Usually a little interest there's a caveat to that and it comes at the end of this program when -- analyze Brit Hume.

And Paul -- conversation today the first solo in an interview by the way that.

That Ryan has given since you've been named the candidate.

-- is Ryan Ryan is making a fundamental mistake right now but I wanna keep that until the end of program now.

Florida is a key state for Mitt Romney Mitt Romney almost has to win -- So the democratic machine.

And Dan rather represents that.

Says hey this is a break for Barack Obama.

Because it puts Florida with its tremendous senior citizen electorate.

It puts it almost in the Obama camp right now.

Right now.

So it's it's kind of if -- -- de Marco Rubio for example that would have put Florida in -- Romney camp but Ryan puts Florida in the Obama -- Correct.

It doesn't tell -- minicamp.

It means that the next two weeks before the convention.

The fate of Florida voters and will be decided it's -- Democrats succeeded spreading this clear and plain falsehoods.

That the Ryan plan will affect seniors today they will carry Florida.

Do they do not succeed in drilling in that falsehood.

And I think again unleashing Ryan will do that.

Then I think it can very easily go to Romney but don't forget yes -- might get initially.

Have put more pressure on Florida for Romney.

The other hand.

What Ryan brings to the ticket is a midwest appeal.

And we saw in the last couple week amid western states the ones Obama the ones Romney needs to win.

Ohio will leading -- all the way up to Wisconsin which he doesn't have to win but is now in play.

Those were drifting away from Romney and Ryan -- G regional effect is gonna be the strongest and you have to -- Michigan and.

Offset Florida if you lose you said something very astute which shocked me.

When you -- -- No yeah it's -- they don't know who Mitt Romney is awesome it's -- the majority of Americans.

They know Romney's name and make it might be able put the face with the name.

So I don't know anything about them.

And they certainly don't know about congressman Paul Ryan.

So then what what happens is that the Republican Party has got to get them no home.

We assume not many people will watch the conventions.

You got football -- -- up you got all kinds of things going wrong.

How do they get them know.

Outside of the three debates and one vice presidential debate how you can -- do that with their overwhelming money can they get -- -- Well I think the very people do watch.

The big speech in the conventions they -- now watch Obama.

They surely know who he is they've been there they've done that.

But they've been a curious you know they're gonna choose for the presidency.

They will watch their lives around me speech that I watched the rise speech they might even watching the keynote address by Chris Christie.

I mean think of how Obama's career was launched.

He gave -- Tuesday night keynote address.

Eight years ago that launched him to become the figure he was and eventually president people do watch that that's -- a moment but between now -- He's -- impressions are going to begin to be formed.

And there is a barrage.

Of democratic money being spent on fluorescent false -- run them down the Republicans have to -- -- bad.

But most important political Romney on the typical it.

Put Ryan on the two.

He's very affable you showed that clip of him in the meeting Obama called -- Blair house.

When he was working on Obama can he brought in all the congressmen.

Republican and democratic and and in that conversation.

Ryan had the best of all of our he had a really.

Obama had it as the chairman.

Had to deflect all the attacks by Ryan -- got into the hands of so after -- -- -- know how well we'll show everybody that -- in in totality and body language.

Coming up.

Hi Charles thanks so much as --
