That's good -- -- -- though the politics of go back to the politics of this ball.

-- I guess we kind of have to play it because everybody's talking about it let's listen to Joseph Biden -- -- that the -- thing and then we'll discuss how ridiculous analysts.

Romney wants to let that he says the first hundred days he's the what the big banks once again write their own rules.

And change.

Wall Street.

We'll put you all back and shaves.

So then we hear everybody saying race baiting race baiting race -- does anybody really think that.

That's what I mean Joseph Biden puts his foot in his -- more often than men -- But I'm really -- -- and now we're gonna suggest that I mean.

-- this policies that led to talk about forgiveness saying that there really are and it's really a shame because the issue of -- as we've discussed and by the way it Paul Ryan has had some pretty interesting.

Positions on the issue that we've talked about before which is a return to Glass-Steagall and separate out the banking activity -- Commercial banking activity holding the deposits from the investment banking activity.

That would be really interesting discussion I have right now right.

Off the lead in that -- Biden had they -- right.

But instead will want to talk about when -- was at an implicit racial slavery sort of -- thing though let's spend 24 hours debating that instead.

I just don't know what to say that I'm -- it's so silly and terrible penny it to be fact it's not.

It's not just the Republicans written seizing on something like that the Democrats have seized on the so called -- of the -- campaign as well.

Really I mean is a -- -- level than we've ever been in political discourse it does seem it to me.

I think American people are asking themselves how many more days left of this election do we have to endure.

I mean this silly season has been drug out from almost day one of this campaign and unfortunately.

Is going to continue there are gonna getting gas at a made -- -- all be blown up because.

The -- -- the undecideds that are out there are so few that they're trying to you can get on any -- -- absolutely possible land over blow.

You know a gaffe that that is out there it was the wrong thing for the vice president to say -- and as it was the wrong thing for many of the other Republicans you know for -- The chairman of the RC to say you know Barack Obama has blood on his hands of border -- for what he did with commit Medicare for that passage -- what -- -- on Medicare so.

You know hopefully you know again we can get to sound type and civil discourse without having to make it just that the hyperbole just getting into it to a place where it is untenable I.

I could have a question more than a statement here like -- my question anyone what do you think about this to me.

You you're right -- only a few undecideds to the -- -- -- does anybody think the undecideds are moved.

By now you know finger pointing ever -- -- I can't imagine that they think that I and there are no I can't imagine why the politicians are spending all -- time talking about it what's up.

The Lilly and again and -- They're gonna all of honey do move one or two I mean it will be a one or two you know individuals and we were talking about.

One million people wonder no one and a half million people after registered voters that are undecided right now that isn't hot that many people.

And so you know they're trying to literally -- and -- and figure out which we know which thing is actually gonna catch on they don't know what's gonna go viral they don't know.

What's gonna be the gap that really -- -- is a -- tipping point and that's why they're exploiting.

Each and every want right now.

It's usually let states it's such an on being in light adding Paul Ryan to the ticket who everyone said so it is -- it before there -- 44 -- -- went.

Thank god we're actually gonna have a discussion now that now the election's about bid to be you know to think you know you're just gonna be about entitlement reform and budget and finally -- -- god we're here.

But -- out.

Forty or I think after that -- to -- -- -- blood on him I think our our viewer via cell senior puts it all in perspective when he says.

I actually I'm more offended with Biden saying -- you'll -- -- -- I'm well I went out this threat desperate and it's a little strange and distant and I got -- Virginia counties aren't wasting got all right loses say you law which would be quietly of them exactly -- I'd -- -- if I tried.

-- penny but what about it had hit the Medicare let's -- let's -- let's also at least get to the policies.

Medicare suddenly front and center in this debate now -- -- -- Good for the Democrats.

It is -- -- -- in these you know he sighed we'll we'll claim is good for them again.

It energizes both -- bases.

-- you have.

You know.

President Obama who has it as he would say you know the 700 million dollars that he billion dollars that he.

Saved because of that -- a -- that he made into -- actually save your longevity on the other side you're gonna say no it decimated destroyed.

Disrupted.

You know I have to say we when you go to those two extremes -- -- really just rally -- up the base on both sides but I think there's a legitimate.

Question to be asking -- what does the future of Medicare would look like do we want to go to -- about your program or.

Do we want to try to find efficiencies.

Within the current system to be able to make it have a long a longer life.

So those are real and legitimate questions I think need to be answered when -- get a little bit away from the hyperbole on both sides images.

You know you'd destroy it and you know you destroy it -- in fact is still is an existence and is gonna be in existence for quite awhile so what does the future of it looked like I think is of the more import.

-- -- -- -- Talking of the U destroyed you know you just destroyed it it does remind you driving and a couple of kids in the back to the cow was saying -- you've broken your brother you know absolutely -- This car I hang out exactly let's all take a look at our -- -- -- -- political cartoon of of course going off the fiscal cliff -- gratitude to the elephant and donkey screaming at each other in the front seat not looking at where the Carlos had a and that's that's that's exactly where we are of course -- right this this whole issue about.

You know whether or not about your system is right and it ties into something of course much more fundamental.

That we are going through a major grain of the population.

And our health care cost as a society -- -- mean have to be borne by the government.

That the health care costs as a society are going to skyrocket.

Over the next couple of decades.

We clearly have to have a real dialogue about.

How what are we going to do about that how -- we going to cope with that.

And of course a political -- presidential campaign is precisely where you would expect that debate to play out in it.

Really amazing to me that neither side.

-- seems to care about engaging in an intelligent discussion about it when I didn't get do we.

Do we get worse before -- -- bad penny do you think they will focus on this I think this is this is initial -- when you look at something like Medicare as well.

It's an issue which could.

Quite literally decide the election because -- -- dubbed big issue in a state like Florida which Mitt Romney cannot win the presidency without winning.

So -- -- they have to focus.

-- -- -- The issue.

They -- the states Florida Pennsylvania and Iowa all keep her feet for each side.

You know I Mitt Romney probably can't win be.

Can't -- when the electorate without winning Florida.

Barack Obama cannot win the presidency without winning Iowa these are very very key states and so the senior issue is going to be front and center in so.

It's that again trying to persuade those who are out there who was going to destroy.

Medicare the most -- in you know the Republicans can say well it's not for existing seniors but.

There are many and -- 55 -- right now that are going to be retiring very very soon that are kind of worried about what kind of Medicare they will be facing so.

There is a lot that is out there at stake or where this issue and again -- hopefully we can have the discussion about what the future looks like.

Because it will fundamentally have to change but it will be things it will have to be different whether or not we means test certain things whether or not -- put into place for get rid of -- for services.

Whether or not we put in some other -- to manage for the quality of care so there's many many reforms that need to take place to ensure the longevity.

And hopefully that's where we can get debate to be three debates in October that are coming up.

Domestic policies are gonna be a part of those hopefully in that engage in that setting -- I think what people will be watching -- these 32 ads being thrown back and forth.

The intelligent debate can be had.

All right -- -- former senior advisor to senator Harry Reid thank you.
