Parts of the guys who want those that questions also raised of the debates Republican senator Lindsey granted it about it senator Joseph Lieberman.

They're good friends with my next guest Arizona Republican Senator John McCain.

And you might know that fellow to the right of him and he was his top economic advisor when mr.

-- was running for president.

He's a former CBO chief -- Douglas Holtz eakins a gentlemen welcome to both of you.

Senator what you first do you make up just just take this off the table take this hold that thing off the table or at least the debt commission.

Stuff off the tape that.

But I just stupid I think -- And the debt commission covers.

Got a good road map on how we can -- -- addresses that -- such a stupid so we -- to move on other things pending gonna happen.

So we had to -- on other things like.

The tenor of this campaign.

Like the fact that Joseph Biden who is a nice guy who -- Known and -- friendly with for many years continues to say -- that are unacceptable.

In American politics and yet he seems to get away with it because it's just sort of a -- well he cross -- line again.

With the statement about being change they're putting people back and change.

And they he should be held accountable the Obama administration should be held accountable for this and it basically alleges that.

Mitt Romney is responsible for the tragic death of a man's wife and and -- let me just finally say.

What do you get if you win -- this kind of campaign what is I thought about that a lot when I was running in 2008.

If you run this kind of slash and burn -- her campaign that they're running what happens when it's time to govern again.

I would argue that would be very difficult.

For anybody any team that -- this kind of campaign to govern and bring people together come the following January.

Let's say if if that is the case started you stick to the high road on the issues in the -- and how we address entitlements as.

Paul Ryan wants to do and with his choice by Mitt Romney seems indicate that Romney wants to do.

-- on the high ground but there's a lot of controversy.

And mudslinging back and -- because you dare talk about the third real politics rating in.

The growth of entitlements and that's all congressman Ryan's been talking about his -- -- reigning in the growth and I'm not ending it as reigning in the growth.

On yeah risk yeah -- what is.

And and what is he helped turn it.

What plan what Doug and I would just talk and tell me one thing that the president is saying that he's going to do.

If he's reelected and including they have no plan.

2024.

Is the end of Medicare.

That's the Medicare trustees' what -- is there a plan to save Medicare.

They have -- only attack in show clips of somebody dumping -- off a cliff I mean.

It is and it's absolutely unbelievable and I have to believe.

That between now and the next -- someday -- American people are gonna say hey what's going on here what's their plan they have none.

And and -- you know I've had this conversation I think the most important thing that's happening.

And -- I admire about Mitt Romney choosing someone like Paul Ryan is a -- adult conversations American people about how this has to change.

Where it's not about politics.

It's it's not about hijacking.

The debate it's about the facts on the ground for something that's very important to Americans and I would love to see a high minded principal discussion haven't seen that so far.

I think just by trying to have the discussion they'll -- and political points but also educate people -- a real problem we face and could I just mention one other thing about it.

The First Amendment when we were debating Obama care -- was mind.

That said send that the bill back to the committee and restore.

The then 500 billion dollars should have been cut out of Medicare now.

Is she -- people will say any thing.

But the fact is that's the congressional record.

The amendment that said restore the 500 billion that was being cut in the first round of obamacare it was voted down.

By the Democrats overwhelmingly to Democrats voted.

-- us -- not to cut 500.

Billion dollars in Medicare.

By the -- senator on that point and I do a couple of things on politics you know months -- -- -- of a former top bush official was quoted as saying -- admired.

The Paul Ryan choice by Mitt Romney.

And that it would it encourage this debate that both you and -- wanna say.

It all but has -- Mitt Romney will lose this.

Well what did you think about now come on I did look you know there's so many experts from around this what people should do what they should do what the outcome will be.

-- this is an honest campaign that is decided to take on the major issues facing America and that is unless we unless we fix entitlements.

Unless we stop this unlimited unending spending and debt.

Accumulation of debt that Obama administration would it would mean.

Bill -- in the next four years after this for years that we are going to have a bankrupt nation and they want to have a conversation.

About it and how the American people.

Need to address it and the American people will because they care about future generations as well as their own.

Generations shall have my answer is I strongly disagree I think we can change this whole conversation around.

All right I was a -- -- coming -- -- this housing thing today and it comes at a time would -- Freddie.

They're trying to clamp down on banks -- it to see that they could be.

More generous -- but I would still and -- this housing doesn't seem to be making much movement when -- the other.

What what what do you guys doing today to address.

But what we came there -- -- -- because it has obvious.

Travail from that the housing collapse and we bring national -- -- experts here to Phoenix we we have some local experts.

And quite frankly we just learn a little bit about the problems on the ground game he can make a lot of mistakes -- just inside the beltway in DC and not out go out.

And really understand this and I think we now know that going forward we have to have reforms are long overdue the senator had.

A bill in 2006 it went nowhere we still need better policies for Fannie and Freddie and clean off the liability for the taxpayer but we also need to think hard about.

How can you get housing markets two to recover and our answer from going to.

Las Vegas Phoenix Columbus, Ohio.

Orlando Florida.

Our answer is we need better growth policies because only with jobs and with some money in their pockets.

-- the people who have new households and want to own -- home he would get out of Russell and in the -- and so.

The overall failure to have a comprehensive growth policy.

Comes back to housing markets as well.

Senator -- last night your former Roman running mates are -- was on with my friend and colleague Greta Van Susteren.

Saying that given Joseph Biden's remarks and and and his intemperate remarks it throughout this campaign -- her view.

That the president might be wise.

To swap it out for Hillary Clinton -- -- -- go to.

I think he might be.

Might be wise to do that but -- it's not going to happen obviously.

And for a whole variety of reasons include including the fact I'm not sure fire or Hillary Clinton had wannabe.

That team.

-- that -- side where looked I think career ambitions very frankly here for 2016.

Okay and I'm sure that that that would enhance that.

That likely.

Donald Trump -- just -- with me as senator a couple of minutes ago.

Saying that he declined an invitation to speak that's if it is his take.

And -- is gonna do something and it is a surprising announcement on what it was what it is but I'm sure you do can you tell us.

I don't know what he's gonna do.

I'm always informed and entertained with his appearances on -- on your show.

And others and I'm glad that Donald Trump is engaged in the political process and I appreciate that what he was gonna do is gonna do -- the convention night.

I would I would have no idea but I with -- persistent and unpleasant question saying it came out that is gonna happen early may be issued -- There's -- hollowed out -- I guess I -- I would if I wanted to follow up that are not -- little that we would know that and believe now we aren't well that's nice guys just rub it in on my face and myself always -- -- -- existing senator zone was always good seeing you be well.

Thanks a like you.
