Sally good to have you here a pleasure let's hope taxes.
I thought it was very nice -- Mitt -- -- that he paid at least 13%.
For the last five years yesterday.
Jim -- I didn't just strikes me.
As on the surface that wasn't the smartest thing to say.
Because everybody sitting there thinking really thirteen.
Rod went to -- the third tee and you've got my tax has also.
The question of what's to -- -- greater than denominator as is it you know one dollar million dollars 13%.
You know one dollars on March.
I said from the beginning that -- in the slow motion processes.
Negotiating with the media on this that this position -- I'm not gonna -- my tax returns is not sustainable.
And every week there's an -- -- new details dribbles out.
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- Reporter XY or Z.
Pull out in the days and weeks to come.
Yeah -- is this so it exists of fire with him really.
Lie Arizona's the -- yeah.
Right that's the end of the show.
OK okay we have agreement around the table here let's.
But it's in this this is an issue that the Democrats are having a lot of fun wind and that the challenge today selling oh you're -- give us a five years we'll stop asking.
Yeah I mean -- I think by the way is and I'm not sure actually -- deal I would put on the table I really think -- Keep pushing for him to release the -- -- -- that that most candidates -- certainly that his father set a precedent for.
But look.
That you know the Republican -- they're trying to say this is just a side issue.
I do not think -- -- -- -- -- because it you know we know people vote for candidates based on character and your willingness to be forthright.
With the American people as opposed to office sort of smug elitist not study anything.
Is part of that character.
But also more fundamentally this election is going to be about taxes this election is about.
How we balance our budget how we provide for the future our country do we do that.
By as Obama has done cutting taxes for 95% of Americans -- -- we're gonna raise them on millionaires and billionaires.
To pay for the things we -- -- Or her as Romney Ryan wants to do.
Getting rid of those tax breaks for 95% of Americans.
And cutting taxes further for millionaires and billionaires to the point where Romney himself -- said he would pay less than 9%.
It's a central issue in his ability to me up right about and and forthright about it is.
This -- -- Charles Greece wants to correct means they Jonathan -- -- that if that if you include charity donations it would add up to about 20% thank you Charles long.
And our budgets -- rebuild the letter that -- or part of the lead of the Jim Messina sent to the Romney campaign manager Matt Rhodes.
It read in part if the governor will release five years.
Our returns I commit -- that we will not criticize him for not releasing more neither NASA nor -- public communications or commentary.
For the rest of that campaign.
And it did it strikes me.
Won the -- to pick up on something you were saying before we went on that.
The Democrats are doing a very good job.
Absolutely and boy what a cynical act -- -- missing.
I think we want to talk about the other years that you have at least if you give us about well why would they talk about those five man back -- Romney thing is -- and Mitt Romney is that it.
If they -- this will give ammunition to mr.
Romney's critics.
To a fairly well why because there's something in there you've had to make a decision that there's some dynamite in -- that it's worse.
They're not releasing them and not releasing them now if they persistent member.
Under this out.
Under his -- saddle so when Jim says you know I would -- I think every political consultant that I bump into.
Or cause me to tell me I'm stupid for what I don't know if then they are those that.
So why do you think -- -- hasn't released those and then they also begin their own.
Paranoid conspiracy theory as to what's really going on and I -- I think everybody Republican and Democrat thinks -- -- get this out of my way take this the way around the Democrats they're beating you about the head with it.
-- -- the conservative response this is is frequently.
Well if he paid thirty -- he paid millions and millions of dollars that's a lot of money but really didn't.
That isn't a false argument the amount you pay isn't -- the percentage that is that we should all be just fine.
Well understood conservative talk to say that's a lot of money and leave it that I would I just don't think this is sustainable life I think than the whole spirit of the changes disclosure transparency and total truth.
And to not do that but again now have -- establish a position a month ago that's it two years no more.
These are stuck with it and instead they're now negotiating we write these people and and that is really -- because if you if you had your position don't get swami.
Day in day out.
All right let's look -- let's look at the other side salami.
It's like -- is gonna picture I think hey that's not how -- I play by play we'll way to -- Larissa today with a solo had predominantly.
Let's get to it -- good problems on the other side with the Democrats don't need a sustainable us Sally and Democrat crap no -- Vice President Biden sustainable.
Yeah I mean you know yeah look he's outlive us all he's out survive this all I mean how many can survive the political career win like daily -- The guys like the Energizer bunny of -- he just becomes obvious he's not yelling they must feel -- I don't know.
A look I think that at the end of the day his sort of -- inside his head is very valuable to President Obama into the country.
You know it's certainly going to be interesting vice president to make the guy is impeccable.
In terms of foreign policy NN has a long record in terms of domestic policy.
Oh do I wish you would think a little bit more before you speak from time to time the right -- no yeah but she can't always get to one -- you know.
I would say let vice presidential nominee's advantage and detain -- really yeah.
So I said it's a -- -- looked at what was it a picture full of warm spit or something along the hacker problem and that if and from Dan Quayle will be able to spell potato to Sarah Palin seeing Russia from the edge of the last half.
Not a house which he never -- that that was Tina Fey but there isn't it and it doesn't really matter does it.
Well I don't know if it doesn't it what what -- thing is most people don't know who Paul Ryan is to this moment.
People are just being introduced -- -- he and it's it's again interest thing because I -- everyone on this panel knows Paul Ryan knows his work is that chairman of the House Budget Committee.
But for most Americans it's a cipher like who is that when and so they're being introduced and defining Paul Ryan as part of the political dynamic taking place at this moment.
Democrats trying to make him into a demon wants to destroy Medicare Republicans wanted to make him into Hewitt is trying to save Medicaid so that it depends on your perspective.
But ultimately people don't vote on BP there's no evidence that people actually vote.
Caveat I would throw in here -- is this.
That given that Mitt Romney often -- it's uncertain about his policy his tax prescriptions and job creation policies.
People -- propriety of that.
Jean Paul Ryan actually puts forward his ideas and his policy that's been voted on it got passed in the House of Representatives.
And so it's filling in some of what people are thinking represents.
Mitt Romney and then again it gives the Democrats a big target to shoot it.
Didn't want managed to definitely shift your question -- That I -- -- -- football I don't.
And he's very yeah.
I mean I think but to answer your question I think that if I mean Biden I mean I -- -- what that was her -- very.
Ten US defense.
Biden.
If if the mainstream media went after by the way they went very well in 1988 -- through his vice presidency you would be the same laughingstock that they quit because he -- -- -- -- take every dumb quote -- for senator misspelling.
And multiply by -- and get Biden.
And yet the media don't -- an island and that's -- -- What are you said you said before you came in that built the Ryan pick.
Is the smallest that is given lived there at the top of the ticket in this case governor only the smallest bump -- since Dan Quayle who.
I don't know if it's -- in the Obama.
But Quayle was viewed by the American people according to Gallup more negatively right but he's the only vice president picked vice presidential pick that was -- more negative press in this press -- okay.
