Tony Perkins president family research council.

Tony the Southern Poverty Law Center sits on a huge amount of money over 200 million dollars in endowments they get about thirty million dollars a year.

It's been a lot of time attacking groups like yours in calling you hate groups tying even with the same level.

Of characterization as they would skinheads and Nazi groups.

-- very bold and speaking out about how this you feel.

The atmosphere contributed to what happens does it explain.

Where does ES PLC get the idea that you are -- hate group what's -- based on.

Well my getting the only things you point -- impoverished about the Southern Poverty Law Center is is there integrity of their methods of operation I mean they're sitting on millions of dollars.

And they're making money off of spreading.

This hostility and they have identified the family research council because of our policy stands on -- -- A religious position on homosexuality.

As a hate group.

And in this is fostering this environment I mean as you pointed out this guy had fifteen chick filet -- -- in his backpack along with fifty rounds of ammunition.

Two weeks ago where you as the whole chick -- The situation was unfolding which we supported you and the chick -- appreciation day as -- thousands or millions of Americans across the country.

Express themselves in standing for these traditional values along with chick -- Well in new stories across the country chick filet was identified as a supporter of the family research council had to give us a thousand dollars a few years ago.

Part -- though long credit a far cry from being us a big supporter of ours.

Meant they had a sit in these stories FR CA certified hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Well that's repeated over and over again and I I don't have all the details and can't go into all of the facts of this ongoing investigation but there were other groups targeted.

That appear to be.

The same type of groups that have been labeled as hate groups so this is this really gave a license to.

Court tends to come -- -- begin to take innocent lives.

This type of rhetoric is dangerous.

-- it has to stop.

One of the other things it was very -- -- isn't in the aftermath of the shooting.

Some of the major networks CBS and NBC gave like twenty seconds each.

To tell the story never brought up the connection with the person's affiliation with the gay rights group.

Treated -- almost -- differently I was.

Struck -- the fact that that's very different than had a person identified as a pro life -- pro family activist gone into a planned parent.

-- office in and done the same horrible thing which I think we all would have roundly quickly and unflinching only condemned as unacceptable.

Talk about the media coverage and yeah the lack -- off.

Well I'll be very very candid with you Mike I haven't -- a lot of media might my first.

Focus has been on my team and making sure they're well I have seen some of the media coverage.

I will say that and I know were on fox with fox has been very good about the coverage.

Others I think -- have not either they have covered have not covered as I'm told.

Or have covered in -- very slanted way.

So you know I'll I'll leave that to the experts on the media to decide.

But I but I will say that I think we've come to a point in our society.

That -- this type of that's a really authority that the Southern Poverty Law Center has been given through their association with the department of justice and Homeland Security.

To create this environment of hostility must stand and as you pointed out there were a number almost over two dozen.

-- homosexual activist groups that denounce this violence and said they were concerned about Leo and we appreciate that.

I would ask them to take the next step and that is to call upon the Southern Poverty Law Center.

To stop this labeling in this marginalization.

Of organizations and individuals.

That stand for religious freedom and traditional moral values.

There's no place for that and a constitutional republic like -- -- mean the cornerstone of our society my kids you have.

Advocated for in articulated.

Are those first freedoms of the freedom of religion in the freedom of speech.

If we lose votes or if we self censor ourselves in back up from these public debates over these important issues.

Will lose the future of our country.

Tony Perkins thank you so very much for being here I know it's again a long week and a tough weekend for you and your staff.

We appreciate your being here to -- some some real life to the story gracious.

Good.

I've -- -- -- organization for a long time and they don't instigate they don't advocate violence of any -- they don't advocates are instigated anyway.

That someone get hurt.

I hate group ought to mean something bigger than that they disagree with you.

And I joined the Tony and saying I think the Southern Poverty Law Center needs to act with a greater level of integrity and come forward.

And be more honest about what real -- is.

And I think that the greatest example of true love.

Was exemplified body employee of the -- in that lobby that day.

When all of us would have said he was justified in taking the life of one who was trying and in fact had attempted to take his own life.

But he chose not to.

That is not to picture of hate.
