-- -- the koskie author of who's counting -- rosters and bureaucrats but your vote at risk and also former member of the Federal Election Commission.

Joins us now with some perspective.

-- -- coming in today thanks for having me.

All right so you are very -- with Pennsylvania case the folks there who are challenging the slot that you saw -- they -- to in court that a million registered voters in Pennsylvania don't have the necessary ID.

So why should the long before it.

While it back if you look at the judge's opinion he said in a footnote he specifically rejected.

The attempts of the petitioners to inflate the numbers and in fact he found that the expert they're relying on.

He said that his testimony was not credible -- -- that's the the words that the judge used in the decision.

Okay there was a Washington Post poll that came out this week on this topic because -- so many of these voter ID laws around the country there are being challenged it showed 74%.

Of those.

Who were asked do you think that here in the United States should have to show -- in order to vote 74%.

Say gas and that cut across party lines independents everywhere else.

Why do you think that the DOJ and other groups continue to fight this battle to take down those laws when it in the vast majority of Americans think they're necessary.

-- you have to ask the attorney general why he's been doing anything you can't it's gone but I didn't know exactly he is not it had taken our.

-- you have to keep in mind -- Pennsylvania case.

The fact that the claims that the plane -- made were rejected.

This epitomizes.

The claims they've been making for years -- the ACLU sued Georgia five years ago.

They lost that case to and in fact one of the reasons the judge threw the case that was because he said they couldn't come up with a single person.

Who would be unable to vote because the law and what happened in the Pennsylvania case -- 93 year old woman who was the main.

Person that I was there witnessed.

The day after the judges -- decision she did what she went and got a photo ID that shows how foolish of their losses that she did get.

-- and I know that there are others involved.

But you mentioned that there it's tough to -- -- -- for people cannot get the the idea that they need of course the other side always argues there's not voter Friday this is a solution to a problem that doesn't make.

Says well let's talk about Pennsylvania one thing that a photo ID will prevent -- people from voting under false registrations.

And the Justice Department prosecuted a very big voter fraud case -- called US vs CNC usually in which they convicted 25 people.

Falsely registering addresses in Philadelphia when they didn't live there in fact one of the couples actually lived in New Jersey.

And voted in both New Jersey and Philly.

A photo ID with a current Pennsylvania address -- prevented that kind of fraud from occurring.

Hasn't the Supreme Court rules in this arena why has that not settled what's happening all these different state -- that the US Supreme Court has upheld.

Photo ID laws is being constitutional.

That's why the ACLU sued in state court in Pennsylvania not federal court they made a claim that it was unconstitutional under the Pennsylvania State constitution.

Not -- -- -- because they knew they would lose in federal court.

Okay and they are now vowing to appeal and are killing to the Pennsylvania State Supreme Court.

Do you think that there is a resolution on this before Election Day come November.

I don't think there's a resolution but the judge said the -- could go in and into force though it's gonna be in place in the November election and in fact.

Again similar to Indiana.

And Georgia the issue you took those cases to the state supreme courts in those states to and they ultimate.

We lost we know that these battles are going in number of states and with an election as tight as the polls show it is right now.

Every bit every single vote is going to count sound mr.
