The show the White House confirmed this week -- vice president Joseph Biden will stay on the 2012 democratic ticket.
Our next guest says that may only be because secretary of state Hillary Clinton turned down the job.
Ed Klein author of New York Times best seller the amateur.
Joins us now live from new York and good to have you today thanks for joining us thank you so much for having me on your show pure and all right tell us what you know about this you say according to sources who were with in the Clinton camp.
What do you know about a possible offer to the secretary of state.
This took place actually before Joseph Biden's latest gaps.
There was a luncheon in the White House.
Between Valerie Jarrett who as you know is the president and the First Lady senior political advisor.
And Hillary Clinton.
We're meeting about policy issues but the vice presidency came up the subject of the vice president she came up.
And Hillary made it very plain that she was not interest in running is his number two on the ticket.
Now is it true that you also say former President Bill Clinton actually wanted her to consider taking on that number two position from Biden.
-- according to my sources.
Bill Clinton has been thinking about this for the last year and a half.
He has to begin with -- tried to get is.
Wife to actually challenging.
Barack Obama for the democratic nomination in 2012.
She said no thank you.
Then finch then he's been pressuring her that if the vice presidency were offered -- -- She should take it because who would be a perfect launching pad for her.
To run in 2016.
For president of the United States.
All right I know that she apparently had some concerns about that you mentioned a -- -- meeting with Valerie Jarrett of course one of the most senior advisors to both the president in the First Lady.
Her indicating that she didn't want to go along with this the what would be her reasons for deciding this is not the time to jump into this ticket.
-- to a spot that's RD held by the current vice president.
I think she had a couple of really good reasons one.
If she were on the ticket and he won.
And then she ran in 2016.
QB in the position of having to defend.
The Obama policies which he doesn't agree -- And number two if she were on the ticket and he lost that should be.
It's hard as a loser so she -- as a lose lose proposition and decided not to do it.
Aren't we had a number of denials from people who say it's just not possible that this actually would have played out this way want to play a little bit of sound from -- -- course well known.
Democratic strategist in his take on this claim.
You do it now smacks of desperation.
He would upset all kinds of people.
And -- I don't think so that's why I don't really give much credence.
Okay and he -- -- give -- much credence but I know that I've read where you said this may not actually be over there may still be a time when Hillary would be approached again we're just three months away from the general election.
Well we're only about what twenty days away from the democratic.
Democratic national -- convention.
So there's very little time.
I don't think it's going to happen but I do think that if the Obama campaign got desperate enough.
And Obama and Biden I was gonna be -- all Biden people -- -- with Joseph Biden all the time if Joseph Biden continues to make these gaps if in fact he.
Projects himself as somebody who's really not in a position to step in its president if he had to.
That I didn't think there is this outside possibility very outside that both Obama and Bill Clinton would put pressure on Hillary to take it.
I'd say I put that as a 5050 or even 40% possibility.
Wow that's pay a stunning prediction we will watch and see whether -- -- out.
At kind that your book continues to remain on the New York Times best seller list congratulations on that and -- shocking.
Predictions we'll see what happens Ed thank you thank you.
