Jonathan is extremely urgent we at the Polaris project operate the national human trafficking resource -- -- hot line.
For the United States and we're getting calls every day.
From a trafficking survivors or members of the community that are identifying trafficking.
In their own communities so we need to respond immediately to those needs.
And Jesse I know I know organizations like world vision.
Rerun that -- that you -- send -- running Cambodia differences we've got some of that some of the pictures we can put up.
Beat the bills that -- rescued -- from the sex and labor trafficking how how long both.
Do you counsel somebody to get through that kind of trauma.
Well it's extremely difficult and too especially when you have -- twenty million slaves around the world.
Both -- and countries like Cambodia and here in the US.
It takes a concerted effort it takes a partnership and that's why it's so critical that the United States get re engaged.
In these issues it's it's one thing for organizations like world vision or Polaris project to.
I deal with these individuals -- these survivors.
Modern day slavery on their own but we really need be that help and the persuasion of of governments like the US government who has been a global leader in this.
And so far they've allowed -- bear the US government has allowed.
The centerpiece of all of argument -- a lot to you languished -- and Mary this is the trafficking big.
-- protection act of 2000.
And the danger it won't get cost again before this legislative session ends in December is that right.
Yes that is right the trafficking victims protection act was initially enacted in 2000 we've had three re authorizations in 20032005.
And 2008.
And it is now do for reauthorization.
In fact it's overdue.
Four reauthorization.
And we've been working really hard the great thing is that a lot of Americans and people.
Around the world look to the United States as Jessie sent as a leader.
This act is our leading senators -- -- our cornerstone legislation and we need to move immediately to get this get this moving again.
And Jesse tells -- -- to -- a day of action you calling for on September 4 on this.
-- yes I mean during the next couple weeks we're gonna hear a lot of heated rhetoric on a number of different topics with both conventions happening what we wanna do is bring together Americans from across the country no matter what their political -- and so we can all come together and say slavery is bad and we won the US congress to do something about it.
And so on September 4 -- gonna have a national call in day to pass the trafficking victims protection act.
And people can go two website we've set up called pass TV PR eight dot ORG.
And they can learn how easy it is to call their senators and let them know that they want to pass this bill it's never been easier and it's never been more important to let your elected officials -- we want the USB to global leader in fighting trafficking again.
