Lasts the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff is in Afghanistan tonight where he is trying to put an end to a murderous streak.

A ten US troops killed by Afghan colleagues in just the past two weeks.

And he is being greeted by a couple of rounds of mortar fire in the past couple of -- National security correspondent Jennifer Griffin reports from Bagram air field in Afghanistan.

There have been forty US and NATO service members killed this year by uniformed Afghans being trained by western forces.

Or Afghans given permission to work on US bases.

One in -- troops killed in Afghanistan since January have been killed by Afghans who were supposed to be vetted allies.

Last week after two separate incidents in which six Americans were killed.

By Afghan insiders general Allen ordered all -- have personnel to be armed and have their weapons loaded at all times.

There's a percentage which are in fact infiltration.

There's a percentage return cultural -- There's a percentage of PTS team.

You know these these young men have been at war for thirty years -- applications or at least their country has.

But you know he's insider attacks are going to cause you to change the way throughout my life there was no discussion about it there's no discussion of that.

At a town hall meeting in New Hampshire today governor Mitt Romney and his running mate congressman Paul Ryan were asked by a veteran.

Whose grandson is headed to Afghanistan about the new danger get those characters over -- -- Mac guys and I guys that come on -- and body bags.

So you guys -- global Washington.

What is gonna do about this damn mess and Afghanistan.

I expect the presidents of the United States to address the nation on a regular basis.

And explain what's happening and why they're there what the mission is what it's purposes -- -- -- -- is completed.

Other presidents have done this we haven't heard this president do this I will address the American people about these issues and with regards to Afghanistan.

I would do everything in my power to transition from our military to their military as soon as possible.

Bring our men and women home and do so -- -- -- consistent with our mission which is to keep Afghanistan from being overrun.

Buy a new entity that would allow Afghanistan to be a launching point for terror again.

President Obama said he'd be reaching out to President Karzai as well just a few hours later two mortars landed here at -- Bagram air base.
