Happening now weighing the Ryan effect today governor Mitt Romney's running mate Paul Ryan.
Drawn big enthusiastic crowds today in the key swing states at Pennsylvania we showed a little bit of that.
Our next -- nick says never before.
Have we seen -- vice presidential pick.
Shake up the presidential race and sex as -- way and it's good news for governor Romney Fred Barnes executive editor.
-- believe he's -- Fox News contributors to never ever Fred.
Why.
Well I -- -- there -- there have been no vice presidential candidates like Lyndon Johnson in 1960 who who helped the presidential candidate.
But this is something different here -- -- shake up the very nature of the race.
You know he comes with they plan for dealing with the debt and economic crisis a plan for reforming Medicare.
Ideas about -- reducing the size of government and those have been mostly had adopted by.
A Mitt Romney a guy we thought was cautious now he's.
Now Romney's the -- candidate he's the change candidate.
And President Obama who doesn't have a plan for these things did he just wants to defend the status -- he's the status quo candidate.
And that's a big change so what do you think the risk is that Paul Ryan may overshadow.
His his his presidential candidate that he's working away.
Well there is the -- he has for the last what nine days.
That he's been the vice presidential running mate he has overshadowed.
Romney but in the long run that in the long run of the campaign up until November or during the November that can't last I mean because that by the media.
Fox News and everybody else is gonna really concentrate on the presidential candidate that.
-- Mitt Romney you read an article about Paul Ryan where we're doing a statement on Paul Ryan and we're not really talking much about that Rodney so white well learning brand.
Because we're still in the get in the Paul -- area the -- -- part of the campaign luck.
The by the time we get to the Republican Convention next week and on Thursday night when Romney gives his big speech.
Accepting the nomination.
I think from that point on Romney will be in charge and he'll be the most prominent but -- -- with Ryan's gonna get more attention than the usual.
Then as usual for a vice presidential running -- -- -- about that.
-- -- weeks ahead so much can happen between now and then so we'll certainly watch for that it into question I have for you because we know that there -- -- strategy being talked about.
The the president at his campaign we'll take a Paul Ryan when it comes to women issues when it comes to foreign policy that's gonna be the topic of debate for the vice presidential debates.
What you think is Paul Ryan's biggest weakness for the campaign overall.
Well look like I think they're going to be a lot of people who don't like his plan.
Nine -- most of those people they don't like his plan for curbing.
Medicare they don't like his plan for reducing.
The growth in the in the government in reducing the size of government and and spending.
And those people are going to be very critical having the good news for Paul Ryan is -- mostly Democrats and -- And I think most good.
Independence well I think tilted in favor of alliance plans which are now Romney's plan so.
I just think he's gonna help more than he could hurt.
You know I was interesting you quoted at Paul Ryan advisor in your article on what he had to say Davis -- said the disarming thing is his meeting Paul Ryan -- -- Is greater than a sense of ambition and and that's disconcerting to his critics again that's coming from -- advisor you know it cost of the question of American leadership.
Fred just overall and the choice that is ahead as you mentioned in front of Americans what do you think.
This pick says the reaction to the pick says about what Americans are seeking overall when it comes to who's leading the country.
Yeah well there's one word what Americans are seeking that solutions.
Paul Ryan has solutions he has solutions for they.
Problem of this out of control Medicare spending he has solutions for the debt crisis that's looming he has a lot of solutions for the problem of what -- government has gotten too -- now.
A lot of people -- -- agree with those solutions but.
They are solutions and I think they will appeal to -- the majority of America and the weakness of the Obama campaign is its lack of solutions.
-- says Jimmie says it has solutions to end the rest of America where does all sitting -- saying we.
Will we look forward it is solutions turning up right we can't wait for the solutions to get here whenever they are -- what we have to.
Overall out here waiting Fred nice to have you as always thank you for the time look for avenue back.
Good -- thanks for inviting me.
