Okay should tell you what happened -- your opening up there still are and who shows up.
Well I was there early on Wednesday morning about -- and we are working on a large order cookies for wedding and I notice some extra activity outside in about 10 o'clock when I open the door.
Around that time and young lady came in and asked basically permission if vice president Joseph Biden could come in and then do a photo shoot and bring a lot of Frandsen and have a little stop on his way to a larger than -- Virginia Tech and after much -- what seem like a few minutes of course it probably was just a few seconds.
I replied no disrespect to you or the vice president or the any of you guys that.
I just respectfully decline you are coming in here and that she's of course of the a lot of press here in.
And you know we get publicity for your business and I said well I understand that very well but.
I still respectfully decline and and that she was very nice very cordial and she just accidents said -- have to regroup.
Why did you say -- Well a couple of reasons the first reason.
Differences in my faith in my Christian faith and what I believe that that administration.
Stands for -- I.
Have some differences there but also on policy.
And one of the main things that was playing out in my mind -- the statement that President Obama made in Roanoke last month.
Speaking of small businesses and entrepreneurs all over the country.
Saying if you've got a business you didn't build that in in here we are working 1618 hour days and here's my wife he's been up for 24 hours and and here my kids that are resting and sleeping in the back and and yes we are building this and yes it is in its infancy stage -- But we are working very hard to build it.
I'm using your difference if faith and I I did that on -- stand.
That what that has to do with -- now I understand that the business decision based on this the statement did that.
You know but there -- even building yourself but what -- the -- have to do with the declining.
Well -- I just think that the current administration stands for.
Some things that I don't necessarily stand for because my release and and Christian faith.
I just think there are some differences in and what they stand for.
Pat what fed did a little bit deeper than that I mean because you know they sure governments a -- rather broad organization of people of all walks of life and many different faiths.
And it is this directed at anyone in particular or -- -- you know.
You know -- I'd be I frankly don't understand this one.
Now no it is not directed at anyone in particular and it's just about personal belief in a personal faith and and again I don't mean any offense to to the folks in the current administration but they're just a difference and and that belief.
I'm bust up there won't beat a dead horse on that one I'm curious what the reaction then -- -- I'm turning down the vice president.
Tennis event there.
Sure.
But the response has been tremendous we've had a lot of great support locally and nationally we've had tons of great phone calls and -- mails and letter isn't.
And just an outpouring of wonderful support and and just saying thank you for being our voice thank you for standing up for business and in America and that the the support has been tremendous tremendous.
I just getting about that you don't discriminate based on faith -- -- -- -- -- Dana how easily you would see -- you would serve people from my man just so I'm clear on this like any Lanka must commend Mike Cook feared you know doesn't matter but first background right.
Absolutely I make no discrimination we make no discrimination is accompanying anyone and everyone who comes into our store can certainly be served with.
I think the difference is that it is what this.
But what these people were looking for they weren't necessarily looking for service but they were looking for photo op.
In a swing state with a small business owner not necessarily looking for really service.
I'm curious does business doing.
Wonderful wonderful and it it has exploded.
Greta I can count on one hand the negative comments in the negative feedback that we've gotten the support has been tremendous and and we're so thankful and grateful.
For the folks that have called in and ordered and and now all of the great local support.
And I take it based on what you said that study and actually voting for President Obama and Vice President Biden I guess that's that's a given based on the fact that.
You didn't give them the -- that you didn't want them to do the photo op.
