Rich Lowry join us he's the editor of national review -- friend we loved having him on the program he likes to.
Bias bash for us he's got a Skype with us this morning or this afternoon where it's always good to see you you wanna talk specifically about President Obama and something that's been in the headlines take it away.
Yeah this is the subject my Politico column.
Just this morning Harris just talking about the coverage.
This week the issue of abortion and that this is an issue I think the press.
Is totally unsuited to you treat and an objective and unbiased manner because basically all.
Reporters are pro choice.
They're sympathetic to that sided debate they don't -- understand -- sympathize with pro life side so you'll never see it mentioned really bad.
As a general matter all the people don't agree with -- -- position on a hard cases rape and incest when it comes to abortion.
Public -- much closer to his point of view on the issue than it is to president Obama's so I think by -- any reasonable standard.
President Obama as a more extreme position.
That a pro lifer -- then -- -- like -- Aiken.
But the entire tenor of the cup and that the coverage in the media.
Totally ignores that.
Do let's do it any of the coverage though has maybe been a reaction to some of the establishment Republican Party.
Asking for -- to step aside.
Oh yeah look I mean that -- -- today Kenny said an idiotic.
Thing couples and couples.
Things actually they're idiotic and indefensible and you had.
Republicans rushing to -- get him out -- -- Conservative opinion makers like national review.
Saying he should leave the race so that's totally legitimate as a story.
What I object to is the idea that is it's really done it shape the presidential election and -- other elections around and -- donation which is just nonsense.
Again the coverage of this issue on the merits you know Gallup ask about this every year people's opinions on pro life pro choice.
There's a little bit of a gender gap now.
More men are pro life than women but women are pretty much evenly divided -- more pro life by a couple points and if you ask people.
Kind of drill down on their views on abortion whether they supported all the time whether -- -- it never let it sported extremely limited circumstances.
In about 60% of people both men and women.
Say they either think it should be illegal illegal all the time or legal only.
And very narrow circumstances and you had it.
Basically the entire area the Democratic Party saying it should be we have legal and every circumstance including the president the United States but no one says oh gosh isn't this awful.
That the president -- that it's a step up public opinion.
You know before -- let's ago we started the program talking about the pivot that we made a witness as a nation with the topic.
Turning back to what people in survey after survey and we'll have to serve anybody to get them.
The response do you want to hear about the economy just ask one of the millions of people who are out of work.
But do you think that it's it's going to be an easy shift at this point you've got the convention coming up this this next week.
How how much and you know human -- journalists caught this how much sticking this does this issue half.
Abortion and what I need him to not just abortion but what -- this scandal over what was that.
I think very little I just can't see anyone in in Florida or Ohio wedding and a vote on the basis.
Was a senate candidate in Missouri.
-- and a senate candidate news -- and today he may not actually stay in the race for you know.
If you ask people what their.
What issues they care about the selection abortion and uninsured portion shows up.
I'm tied -- -- position on abortion is even less significant than abortion as an issue.
So I think there's another case where -- two things going on Democrats won when it distract from that debate about the economy to the extent possible and soon they wanted gin up.
Particular segment of the women's vote single women.
And in particular and they think this is useful in that -- -- won't name it Democrats with the exception of one important when Claire McCaskill.
Doesn't want to leave the race.
No absolutely right and she did treatment -- I didn't I don't know how little -- was that she was kind of in quote supportive.
-- Iowa -- initially ideology.
He helped she helps -- -- basically in the primary she ran an ad.
That and depicted in his true conservative which is.
That's a description that helps you under -- Republican.
Primary and yes be delighted over what happened and just sort of left -- in in -- -- Republican fighting go on and stay out of it and and hope -- he's -- had enough stick in the race.
-- Rich Lowry watching for the -- -- out there and keeping it.
Letting us -- -- bashing him when he can't finally I think more of our friend rich.
