With the tightening race governor Romney today tried to seize the advantage he laid out his energy plan that he says would create.

The new Fox News poll of likely voters reveals Romney has opened a ten point lead with independent voters -- about a quarter of those surveyed still unsure.
When asked about the stronger vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan -- Joseph Biden by ten points and when asked about Ryan or Biden serving as president.
Among all voters it was a virtual tie.
Both independents Ryan is favored by ten points campaigning in -- military town of Fayetteville, North Carolina.
