-- shock and outrage over a new pair of -- those right there that National Urban League wants Nike to pull the 315 dollar pairs of sneakers because they say.

They target kids who can't afford.

School supplies.

But the question is are expensive sneakers actually a civil rights issue.

The reason we bring that up not according to Wall Street Journal columnist.

Fox News contributor Jason Riley -- more -- -- morning so 315 dollars seekers are civil rights issue.

IC I share the sticker shock I think what -- do 300 dollars for a pair of sneakers but when you look at.

Some of the real problems for using Black America -- Fourteen point 4% unemployment six points higher.

Than the national average kids are heading back to school black kids disproportionately.

Will head back to the worst schools the most violent schools with the worst performing teachers.

And this is what the National Urban League wants to talk about the price of sneakers doesn't make a lot of sense.

Here's what the president of the National Urban League says.

Quote it's insensitive.

To market at 300 dollar shoot two kids and teens as people are going back to school and struggling to buy school supplies.

This is not food this is not rent it's a single pair of sneakers so he's saying it's insensitive so now -- there where they're worried about the feeling.

To the extent that this is even an issue of his comments should be directed at the black community this is about values -- this is about -- culture that puts -- laying that puts.

Conspicuous consumption ahead of industry and the rift.

And the focus needs to be on the black community two to rectify that.

Blaming corporate America it's not gonna fix that problem.

For you right -- that instead.

You know while they're blaming corporate America.

What they should be doing is not what they're doing and what they're doing is they're focusing on race whether real or -- yes it's -- shifting them.

Blame and not only on this the cultures and -- the sensibilities of the black community but he -- you name the topic you know the achievement gap in schools is not.

Because you know black kids watch twice as much television is like kids it's because standardized test -- bias -- you know.

A black men are are are that are filling our prisons not because -- black behavior but because the criminal justice system is racist -- this is all about.

Shifting blame when it comes this civil rights leaders and they're not doing.

Any favors for the people they claim to represent.

It it does this fit in with the president's message of fairness you know everybody should give -- some of that stuff.

This this this fits in with a civil rights agenda that is all about.

Justifying their existence and I would submit that if they have time to focus on the price of sneakers.

They should be worried about justifying their existence -- and what it ultimately what about the family in this and just say you.

That the kid wants the speakers that and we can't afford you to say yet.

We can't afford that you can -- and work order.

You know come up with some money and what's next I mean is he gonna go after a luxury cars and watches.

That other you know poor blacks can afford to what -- -- -- yet the free enterprise system at work and so -- the National Urban League and right just a relic from Wall Street Journal thank you very much thank you -- this conversation.
