Only days now before governor Mitt Romney gives what will likely be the most important speech of his political career getting the chance to make his case.
To millions and millions of American people during the Republican National Convention.
Mike Huckabee knows a lot about -- speeches as communicating the former governor of Arkansas it.
2008 presidential candidate who defeated governor Romney in the Iowa caucus and the host of Huckabee here on the Fox News Channel good morning good morning bill.
Very interesting piece today in the Wall Street Journal.
That really goes to the personal side of Mitt Romney what did you make of that in terms.
I don't wanna call a resistance but it appears to be listened in -- -- my guy but there's only so much in my personal side you're gonna get to know but -- on the serious got.
Who wants to get things done -- -- take them.
I think it's Mitt Romney being Mitt Romney he's not a guy that wants to just be -- outward and disclosing all the particulars.
He's opting out is gonna do the interview the radio station talk about his favorite color and his favorite superhero.
But look let's talk about America in this situation that it is in.
If you go to your doctor for a check -- you wanted to be jovial sit down have a chat with -- you know shoot the breeze.
If you've just been diagnosed with stage four cancer you don't care about the guys' personality you want to ask this question is this the most competent surgeon.
That exist in my immediate geography that can deal with this cancer what you describe though is.
-- what would be a personal crisis for human being.
How does that relate to a country right now but we -- anyway -- crisis we have an incredible -- we're choking on it.
People don't have jobs by the millions -- unemployment rate has remained upward of 8%.
And we're headed toward greater disaster and this president and his policies aren't working.
We are in stage four.
I think people -- looking for compliments.
Not personality.
It's not that Mitt Romney doesn't have a nice personality.
But he is driven by that sense of duty responsibility.
Get the job done -- the results I think itself.
So clear that he understands that America oftentimes to live driven by a celebrity focused society but he's not.
Going to buy into that I mean you and I -- I give a darn about what's on his iPod yeah.
I really don't care what music he's listening to.
I'll be honest -- go further than that I don't care what's and is this tax returns on interest in how much tax returns don't look and if I don't have a job.
-- -- -- look so good so if somebody can help get this economy back on track I'm more worried about.
What kind of job I'm gonna have and I think that's where most Americans are.
Not what kind of job Mitt Romney had 25 years ago when he was running Bain Capital which by the way did pretty good job on let's get to the issues of the country right now Fox -- -- this is staggering.
We asked people how you feel the United States is right now as -- civilization.
57%.
Say were on the decline.
That is a horrible number and it's one of the reasons that I think we're gonna see a dramatic shift in the election.
This is the kind of number that scares incumbents to death.
Because it says if you ask the traditional right track wrong track.
That just doesn't say we're on the wrong track for an election cycle that says we're on the wrong track for a generational cycle that's even more serious answer then.
The typical poll question.
Art to that point though as the country change for the better of the worst the last four years 46%.
Of those we polled.
-- for the worst.
That's I mean simple math -- -- that's almost half and if you're the president you own that you own that number because people.
Whether it's fair or -- doesn't matter.
Just as if when bush was president things go wrong you blame bush Obama still blaming bush but Barack Obama owns that number and owns that disappointment.
As a politician look at this next number is the importance of your candidate winning.
Extremely important.
Romney wins by ten points how does that reflect in voter enthusiasm how do you gauge that.
One of the key factors in and looking for where the election is going his intensity of the voters it's not when you call -- say who are you likely to vote far.
That that -- interest what you're looking for is non interest but intensity intensity wins elections interest -- in trouble.
What this shows is that there is incredible intensity among Romney voters.
They are gonna be I don't care if Isaac it's their front door they're gonna go vote that day whatever greatest.
That's how you and I look at the polling not just our -- but a lot of polls it's neck and neck it's a virtual time which tells me.
Whomever gets their voters out on that day November sex.
They win today and are absolutely polls don't vote voters -- voters only vote when they really really care uninteresting figure is.
That among younger voters in the millennial age 76% of them say they're gonna vote that's the highest number ever but the bad news for Obama.
They're number one reason for voting anger they're not happy that's not good for Obama.
We're gonna see in Tampa starting on Sunday and we get your -- -- -- about.
How important this speeches and what your -- will be for all right then because then -- really keen on his speech that he gave in Ohio a couple of weeks ago terrific speech and best of his his campaign we're gonna pick up a balance on the Air -- same governor -- I have to make the right check out Sunday night to actually Saturday and -- -- and -- check out more Huckabee Saturdays and Sundays at 8 o'clock eastern time.
Right here on the Fox News Channel I think he got.
