Welcome back we just showed you some brand new Fox News polls -- had Mitt Romney gaining some ground that is there may be a better way to tap into voter sentiment well.
Twitter is trying just that the social media site.
Has developed an index to see which candidate is getting more favorable -- -- here -- tells all about the twin decks is our tech guru anchor -- FOX & Friends Weekend Clayton Moore has thanks for joining us good morning nice to be so I want to tweet and it that you tweet as well.
And so it's going up political.
Yeah and I think it's what you hit on the key word which is voter sentiment and it whether or not this translates into votes is another -- so what Twitter is doing is they're actually analyzing the millions of tweets that are going out there every day 400 million tweets.
Who's getting more.
Favorable tweets as -- President Obama is it Mitt Romney and the new numbers this morning have Mitt Romney up a little bit up nine points.
This was a kind of a rough week for Mitt Romney -- but it seemed like a lot of what was going on that's hot they can store wasn't really affecting him on Twitter.
And people were sort of rallying to his defense President Obama getting a little bit of a bump.
Overall though how much is this translates into votes it'll be interesting to watch in November.
Why haven't they do it did a zero on the number hit the number of hits where -- -- -- Romney or they say Obama our rights of the looking at the mood.
So you can actually look at parts of the country where -- -- mood shifts are happening so.
They might say you look in the midwest and see that -- a lot of there's a lot of excitement for Mitt Romney.
You might look on the East Coast -- say maybe there's a little bit more excitement for President Obama they're looking at the -- team they're looking at what's being said about them I'm really excited about Mitt Romney is this platform -- really excited about President Obama is this platform.
And then they're measuring it against the overall numbers and you think that this is far more accurate -- it's happened to voter sentiment than ever before right because where else do we get people.
You know that I think people take to Twitter what my wife yesterday she was in Brooklyn and she tweeted she there's a guy on a motorcycle with a parrot on the shoulder what -- world.
You instantly go to Twitter because you're feeling a certain way yes and so never before have we had measurement tools that we can capture in a moment how someone is feeling about a candidate now again.
Does that translate to them going into the voting Booth that morning and pulling the lever.
I don't know but it's far more accurate because pollsters can't get a hold a young people -- and a 140 characters or less -- 140 characters or less.
And they can't get people on the phone to find out if there -- actually gonna vote for a candidate but do you think this is a -- it's just going to continue -- not grow as Twitter has itself absolutely and you look at 2008 -- one of the major driving factors for getting President Obama elected among young people getting out the youth vote was a major factor for president then Senator Obama so social media -- -- younger people are hanging out and talking about things that affect -- right thank you so -- sure appreciate you can always -- -- -- Fox & Friends First.
