And preparations underway and -- but as governor Mitt Romney will go from Republican presidential candidate.
To presidential nominee officially just a few days now but there -- several factors that could force some big changes this weekend for -- -- On the right hand side -- screen that tropical storm eyes thick but despite that possible distraction and we don't know where that's gonna hit -- how -- is going to be.
One of the big questions is what will the big message be coming out of this convention.
Joining us with the weather report everything else is -- -- chairman of the Republican National Convention rights welcome good to see you.
They and Martha Heidi there's so you what do you what do you thinking in terms of the weather are you concerned there was discussion earlier this week about even a possible postponement of the convention.
Mean certainly were nimble enabled.
Active -- -- have contingency plans in place to be ready for anything but the reality is is that now we know release the tracker showing this thing well off the coast of of Tampa and and so.
We're at a place now where were moving forward there's really no changes that we need to make.
Even the coastal hotels are going to be fine -- what we're being told so.
We're moving forward or just told that we're gonna get some -- to -- Showers occasionally through on Monday and Tuesday and we're gonna have a great convention are really looking forward to it it's a great week both for.
Our delegates and then our opportunity and I think our obligation.
Which is to tell the Mitt Romney story.
And one of the people who the campaigns he used to feel tells the Mitt Romney story better than anybody is and Rodney.
And we just heard -- -- -- little while ago that there's some discussion underway about whether or not she will speak Monday night.
Or Tuesday night whether the networks would even carried if she spoke Monday of course that would probably be considered a big lost opportunity for the Romney campaign.
They want to bury that that speech that's Fisher.
Well will be.
Meeting with some of the producers of the convention week later today but.
As of now she slated to speak on Monday.
And but certainly your right I mean she does such an incredible job and I think she's so real and authentic and connects with but with people I think she she's -- she's a great surrogate obviously the to tell the story of of who Mitt Romney is and why we think is that he's such -- an incredible decent honest man that can lead this country back.
If there's been a lot of discussion about him sort of -- saying his Bain Capital.
Ten near the successes that he's had and his business -- -- clearly that was has been the biggest focus really of the negative advertising that you've seen from the other side.
What are we gonna seep from -- on him this this is a huge moment for him this is a man who.
Why -- to see is this nomination the last time around.
Has finally done so what's going into his preparation do you believe in the compete in the campaign's goals for this big night.
Well I think it's really important that the American people get to know who Mitt Romney is and I alluded to it just a few seconds ago but.
People are just getting to know Mitt Romney which is why.
Our convention is so important that we launch.
The the idea that in America you can still live the American dream I mean here's a person.
With fan that gave away his entire.
-- as a father's entire -- -- Built something from -- -- a good fan only five good boys saved the Olympics you know one of the other issues that mean he was a governor.
As a Republican which I think most people would agree as a Republican governing in Massachusetts.
It should what would have been tough.
But he was able to balance budgets without raising taxes.
And I just think it's really important that we do two things next week.
One we're gonna continue to prosecute the president has to.
What he promised he would do and what he delivered and where were -- economy but the second piece of this is showing this country.
That we have a nominee.
That can lead this country and put our economy back on track and that's that's what we're trying to do next week.
-- -- talk about that that connecting in an early on a couple of months ago.
There was so much discussion about Mitt Romney's inability to get to connect with people.
Is some feel that them.
Team teaming up with Paul Ryan has helped him.
To some degree in at -- loosened up a bit on the campaign trail and I just read some quotes from an interview that he and AM Ronnie did it with them.
Parade I believe just a little while ago and they talked about tightening.
And how much they -- of the through how much they give it to the Mormon church and and Ronnie said that you know it makes her cry.
When she fills out that when she signs that check because she feels so fortunate that there are able to give that much money that they've been as successful -- they can share that.
That money and he's -- make some -- for another reason.
Hit her -- well you know I feel at that.
I think one of the themes that we as a party have to embrace is that we believe -- and we embrace.
Success and I think that this president somehow.
Has a problem with the American dream and I don't think parents and America whether they're Republicans or Democrats.
Begrudge success in fact I think all parents.
Want their kids to be successful and live the American dream and I just think that this message of -- glass half empty America that Barack Obama is is touting is not.
That image and message that anyone in this country thinks it's a good -- so we want to be positive.
I think Mitt Romney and and have a great message for this country that if you work card.
You put your head down and try to live the mission every day you wait on God's timing and good things can happen.
All right we'll see your side will get its chance not a big stage to present their side.
Over the course of next week militant -- covering and scene there -- thank you very much -- and and the Democrats the week after that.
In Charlotte thank you Paris.
So remember just two days from now as I just mention.
