Joining us now the president and CEO of the Tampa Bay host committee for the Republican National Convention Ken Jones can.

Good to see you and you just heard Rick Reichmuth I'm not sure if he did but he say talking about the fact that -- really is even and in years when they don't get a ton of rain -- kind of prone to flooding.

In this summer they've gotten a lot of rain.

If you get 45 inches say the hurricane misses you all together there's still a very good chance the downtown Tampa could be flooded what's plan B.

Well you.

You know right now -- the storm we're not exactly sure if it's gonna hit directly in Florida for its gonna continue to push further west obviously we hope further west but but if we get some rain the good news is is that.

Florida knows how to deal with hurricanes that we haven't had a major hit in almost a hundred years.

We did have a few storms back in 2004.

We dealt with them very well we've got a great emergency management system in Tallahassee as well as here locally in Tampa so.

We get rain all the time we had hurricane or tropical storm -- last month that we dealt with a very well we've got a good system in place and we we deal health life and safety first.

And then we'll deal with with everything else secondly but now we've got a good plan in place and we'll make sure that everybody stay safe and and comfortable down here in Tampa.

And I think it's a good -- talking about tropical storm -- because you guys did have that back in June and it shut down three major bridges in that area.

I mean the sunshine state skyway -- what that bridges golf.

It was shut down for three days so is there is there -- plan to back the bridges up and had to get those 4500 buses.

Down the downtown Tampa if something should happen the winds pick up in the bridges are shut down.

Sure that's a great question and the sunshine skyway actually connects Saint Petersburg down to Bradenton and the good news is all of our delegates are actually saying only in pinellas and Hillsborough County.

So we have to close the sunshine sky like it's not gonna affect delicate movements on the charter buses during that last tropical storm Debby.

We did not have to -- -- the other three bridges we did have some high winds but again emergency management dealt with that we got people safe and secure.

But the good news is that breaks that big breakdown in Sarasota.

Leading from saint Pete.

That -- even if it closes we're still going to be able to move the delegates and all the people in and out of Tampa just as we need to for the convention.

And got to run a -- time mr.

Jones but you know one of the concerns advanced security and your drawing some 3500 police officers from there around the state of Florida.

If this hurricane does hit a different part of the state are you concerned that some of those officers who were supposed to go to the convention might have to stay home and protect their own cities.

You know I know that the Tampa Police Department and our chief Jane castor has talked about this plan -- we've met as recently as this morning with the mayor.

Emergency management officials there is a plan B in place just because we drew a few thousand officers from other parts.

They still have the core operations team and those other cities around the state.

So they're fully equipped to deal -- emergency if they need to says so polling officers from let's say -- count near Miami Europe in the panhandle Pensacola.

That's not gonna affect their ability to operate their city governments in case there is an emergency and we've been a short of that so we feel pretty good about where we are right now.

Ken Jones is with the RNC host committee mr.

-- good luck to you -- the rest of the people of Florida thank you thank you very much appreciate it.

While a spectacular fall.
