The damage that this will do to our country.
What President Obama will not tell you.
Is that he took 760.
Billion dollars.
From the Medicare program.
To pay for the Obama care program.
The Republicans in congress led -- Hire and retain more teachers and as a result tens of thousands of teachers are not coming back to school this ball.
Welcome back -- the -- I'm still your host James -- I'm still in Washington and we are still taking your live chat look at the screen just below me log in using your Twitter or FaceBook account all right.
I was there collecting comic books in 1976.
When marvel and DC issued their first historic joint publication Superman.
Vs the amazing Spider-Man.
This right now is a similarly historic moment.
In the history of cross promotion the first ever visit to the fox hole by Chris star Walsh host of power play and if you will the Babe Ruth of the com programming world Chris we are honored to have you I was hoping for more of a Ty Cobb but the Babe -- is fine I'll go with that that's -- -- played dirty -- think you -- we do whatever it takes on the power play 11:30 eastern standard time on live dot Fox News to account all right thank you so you heard the sound let's just now it does seem as though we're seeing President Obama -- the Obama Biden ticket.
-- their fire directly at Paul Ryan almost.
Almost almost to the exclusion of -- Romney what do you think about that.
I think it'll fade I think what you're seeing right now is -- democratic belief.
That.
Paul -- or at least stated democratic belief that Paul -- support for an overhaul of Medicare would be so toxic.
That it would change the race to the negative and it would take all of the wind out of Mitt Romney sales were so they said but as you know politics people say a lot of stuff.
The polling indicates the opposite the people but with whom Ryan should be suffering.
He's doing increasingly well he polls better among senior citizens who tend to be more Republican -- the population at large.
The -- better than with senior citizens that he does.
-- other people his message about 55 and over being sacrosanct for Medicare seems to have gotten through in these swing states.
And I think which you get is they're gonna push hard on Ryan now by the time need to the other side of the convention.
They'll be back on round.
-- move and generally you don't see Ryan making much of the difference -- -- correct.
I think he makes a difference in two ways one certainly have to say that if -- from Wisconsin you're probably flattered that Mitt Romney chose -- congressman from your state.
Now whether that ends up bringing Wisconsin and who knows but the other thing it does I think this is more important for Romney in an electoral sense.
Is that you see the movement in Virginia and Pennsylvania.
Ohio has been a sticky wicket for Romney for a lot of reasons.
But out in Iowa you've seen in Florida a nice swing state.
Need for Romney that he needed because he'd been losing some -- we got going -- -- -- right direction I think the reason.
Is that Ryan adds vitality.
Used.
Interest something new and he's also a Smart guy so do Romney Ryan ticket is of the Smart guy -- their they're casting themselves as the problem -- Smart -- ticket technocrats -- and that has appeal right now.
Did you see this clip that MSNBC unearthed the Paul Ryan from 2002 on the house floor talking about.
The value of stimulus spending by any chance I have not seen that's I like he liked it then it's gonna be yeah he did and talked about -- have to spend a little -- for the bush -- into the village post September 11 stimulus right what I think -- echo throughout this campaign now I think here here's the thing the Republicans got religion on fiscal matters after 2008.
And what the insurgency inside the Republican Party -- -- call -- the Tea Party but the Goldwater -- the more libertarian.
Small government side of the Republican Party.
Succeeded in repudiation of bush.
-- what they called compassionate conservatism what -- detractors called big government conservatism and Ryan definitely.
Made his bed.
On the other side and trying to come back ten years ago what he liked it when George W.
Bush won and it it's a gotcha it's something that will come up in the vice presidential debate.
But I think of anybody got religion on this point -- -- in human memory also voted for TARP.
He also voted for.
Other.
Controversial measures over the years during the bush era I think Medicare part -- income -- And so he'll have to pay for that -- but he's very clearly branded with this more libertarian insurgents in this sort of fiscal hawkish and this is very much.
End what do you think Mitt Romney's gonna be able to achieve over the next.
Week with this convention in -- You know they don't know when people don't know -- that well the president has succeeded over the last five months and branding Mitt Romney negatively.
It's been you know we've never seen a race like this where the incumbent started early.
Negative and stayed up on the -- you're talking thirty or forty million dollars a month that Barack Obama spending in swing states.
Pummeling Mitt Romney really on character talking about that he that his character is insufficient for the presidency.
This has forced everybody into into their camps we don't see much undecided.
We don't see much in the -- what we do see is this very polarized and then the folks in our new Fox News poll is they say.
A you have a lot of folks were dissatisfied with what's on offer what Mitt Romney has to do between now and -- on this wall street journal editorial today.
-- -- do between now his speech on Thursday in Tampa is basically this he's got to say.
You're not happy with president I'm an acceptable alternative you're never gonna be in love with me you're never gonna send any thrills up your leg.
But what I can do is be competent manager -- -- Paul -- can be competent managers of the American economy and we contain the federal government.
And you -- You mentioned this I think in your power play column today which stated that -- a number of undecided voters right now.
Measured by -- forget whose poll is 8%.
And that's just a little below I think what it was four years ago was 10% right.
It's been suggested to me that there are 250000.
People in America spread across about eight to ten states.
Who really do decide the election and on whom something like six billion dollars per presidential cycle is spent while they watch the -- down machines and the Biggest Loser.
This is that an exaggeration.
Well look here's what we know in every election when you get down to the end we can tell you who -- talking about and -- the campaigns are talking to its women.
Middle income forty to 60000 dollar income suburban.
In about a dozen counties across the country it's always the -- In every election -- called soccer moms and -- whatever you want.
But that's what every election come -- to women polls tell us historically women wait longer to decide more of the undecideds are female than male.
These women are economically anxious they're feeling uncertain about things they have some affinity for President Obama they broke heavily in his favor in 2008 they're not sure they -- -- change.
But all of the money and all of everything because as we talk about people forced into these camps.
Early in this year in this process -- usual for -- incumbent year.
That these women in these counties in places like.
-- and suburban Philadelphia suburban Columbus the end Denver.
These ladies are going to hear an awful lot from and how awful lot of -- campaign -- should we expect from the Obama Biden campaign after the RNC has occurred and after the DNC has occurred.
Any substantive or significant shift in emphasis them -- from what we have seen up to now about.
Trying to define Mitt Romney as soon as characters on worthy for the Oval Office about his Bain Capital career and so forth.
Is gonna be just be more of the same from Obama Biden hitting the final say -- days you talk to Democrats their hope was that by now viewed president would be able to use his speech in Charlotte as a pivot to positive -- -- The -- say now we're on to talk about her vision and restoring hope and bringing the change that we talked about but if -- is not dead by then if he is not.
Wilting and the race is not tied.
I don't know that they're going to have the courage.
To go positive I think because that's a risky strategy to go heavily negative first.
And then close positive the tradition as you start positive close negative I don't know whether they'll have the courage to do with the probably keep whacking him.
All right our thanks to Chris star.
