-- -- back with Fox News extreme weather alert tropical storm -- gaining streak as it barrels toward the Gulf Coast.

Florida already feeling the effects the number of power outages in the Miami area.

Doubling in just one hour now over 4000 people don't have juice that's more.

So we have team fox coverage including meteorologist Janice Dean the latest on -- ex -- but first.

Let's go to -- -- she's.

Live for us in Miami Beach.

I list.

-- conditions have really deteriorated over the past hour and very quickly even in the past.

Fifteen to twenty minutes or so when I -- you -- about an hour ago that getting ultimately we did and now we got it rained -- that -- let me say something.

This sand is now so packed down almost completely gotten in just the last forty minutes to half hour that they're starting to get puddles on top of the -- and on top of -- and there's just a few officials -- your book that he's making sure nobody out here specifically.

Making sure nobody in the water that people might happen.

It's still a very very proud what's underneath it lifeguards and say it's even more dangerous they don't want any swimmers or surfers out there yet they think.

The rip -- -- the -- -- very deep tradition they have here are only expected to get worse.

Over the next that's an -- Expect a lot of planes -- into my area is very relevant to what they've asked people to move their cars to higher ground because they are expecting.

Yes let's you're like you -- -- power already out there we had doubled.

In after hours ago now up to about forty to 45 miles per hour so we are really starting to feel the outer aspects of the -- at the top.

I think -- get them expected to get even worse Whitney.

That's -- 68 inches of rain over the next eight to ten -- that nothing here on Miami feet yeah.

It was thanks very much as the beach patrol cruises by behind and make sure people don't do that stupid stuff where there is -- -- they hop into the water.

Jettisoning how many times we've seen that I really rough surf and and those guys in the with the beaten within the surf -- they go out there tempting fate.

Yeah -- we really don't need to see that the warnings right now are dire for South Florida and that the keys.

We've tornado watch in effect four Miami Beach where we just saw our reporter so hopefully she -- and shelter because these tornado watches are going to be issued throughout the day today.

Into the overnight and into more -- much of Florida has the outer bands continue to move counter clockwise across land.

The storm is expected to strengthen as it moves across the Florida Straits waters are like a hot tub here ninety degree temperatures so we are expecting this to strengthen.

Rather quickly.

And then as we go further out in time.

This is going to travel a lot of Gulf of Mexico water and the waters are warm so we could see it category two.

Possibly even a major category three hurricane.

As it rushes up much across the coast Wednesday into Thursday and I just want to make mention that a lot of the computer models are trending westward.

So our new advisory comes out and 11 o'clock and I think new war lends.

We're going to be really cautioning you because if this storm comes anywhere near you near the coast that water is going to -- up and moved into Lake Pontchartrain and it could be really a terrible situation.

Just quick look at our future radar there's Tampa Monday the storm the -- bulk of the storm will be offshore but we're still going to see heavy rain high surf the potential for three to five feet of -- surge into Tampa Bay but the worst of the storm will be offshore however as -- her head into Tuesday this is one of our computer models this is a strong category two possibly a category three storm there's Pensacola there's mobile.

Gulf -- New Orleans there but again.

I just want to make mention that the computer models are trending more towards the west.

So the next advisories are really crucial the northern gulf you need to be on alert we already have hurricane watches for much of the northern and eastern gulf.

So the next 36 hours are gonna start to see hurricane conditions back to you will keep folks posted JD.
