More on this let's bring in Fox News political analyst Angela McGlowan and former chief of staff to West Virginia governor Joseph senator Joseph mansion.
Chris casinos.
Both of them with us now thank you both for being here.
And Chris -- Mitt Romney has said this Medicare debate we we welcome -- we you know will we're gonna take it on and will win it.
-- -- Gotten.
I mean I'm not sure why they welcome it because when you look at being.
The demographics that they need to win in particular doing better with seniors.
Bring over independents I'm not sure this -- the the Medicare debate helps at all here's the fundamental problem with -- the Romney Ryan plan.
It is basically completely disingenuous the notion of the 716 billion dollar cut.
They supposedly attack that they attacked president a bomb on is false it's not a cut its cost savings and Ryan actually includes that in his own budget.
The other part here is when you talk about the Ryan plan CBO did analysis in 2011.
The Ryan plan on Medicare actually increases cost increases cost is administrative costs go up if you -- rising privatize the program.
So little problem here is not probably areas they have a really -- have a really tough time trying to communicate something that the voters especially senior voters are soon to be senior voters.
Are not -- pot.
Welcome Angela addressed the 716.
Billion got to Medicare that the president wants to and force.
First of all you had Medicare experts Chris that went to capitol mail and sad that this seven -- sixteen billion dollar cut.
When it actually hurt seniors now and that's Obama's plan -- you don't see the commercials John that's.
All -- cut 700 billion dollars from Medicare to pay for a Obama care.
Now why -- Republicans welcome this debate on Medicare.
Because we want to get to the issues and put him in the forefront and seven this deflection divide -- -- campaigned on the -- -- reading.
That's very well and yeah that's the -- and you ought to debate on that straight.
Does it tell that tell us why the line includes the same cut tell us why Ryan includes that he didn't he Tony exclusive staying cut dealing with this 700 billion dollars -- -- waste and fraud.
But what you did not say as -- that voucher system.
You have a choice and competition is good and what you guys are distorting you're saying that.
Well I'll run -- won't hurt seniors -- now.
When NASA's planned heart seniors now -- in fact I stress.
-- that's later but we will have a choice Obama's -- it now.
-- cuts it later.
All right when we started this off by saying that Republicans typically don't win the Medicare battle but from -- governor Romney and and Paul Ryan say they wanna take it on.
They also want to take on the situation regarding women and women's votes typically.
Well the polls have indicated that more women favor President Obama but there is a real appeal all.
On the part of the Romney and Ryan campaign to women I want to play this and then we're gonna get into that debate.
Just a word to the women -- to -- -- out there.
If we become.
If we become president and vice president we want to speak to you we want to help you we want every American to be able achieve her potential.
Talking about appealing to women there and do well is it working.
It is war.
And I am so glad that they came out with that list and what they'll -- they can't get this wrong.
They're saying that we're doing to warn women -- reproductive.
Rights will not a monolithic group the president even said that.
And the real more women Crist has been your -- because more women have lost jobs then men.
Sad really do have a lot of women that want to start small business is now.
Women do support Obama but I do believe that that -- is up for grabs on the test in 2010.
-- was women.
Who gave Republicans control and the house all right Chris what do you think about that.
I think if you look at every poll.
Right -- coming out Democrats winning women by double digits.
And the reason why that is the case is because when you look at issues whether it's social issues like abortion and or Planned Parenthood funding or you look -- education or even on the economic issues in terms of who stands up in a class or even Medicare issues.
Considering that the majority of people run Medicare women.
When you look at that the people are more attracted to present Obama and Democrats position well here's the fundamental here's the fundamental reality Romney and right.
They cannot win unless they get within about five points.
In terms of women a -- by a Democrats are gonna win women that is I think.
A fact I I I don't apply so they're I think that the women's vote is up for grabs but Chris one thing you are right where on its messaging it's messaging.
And once we do this convention and they get out -- advocate well if -- Agassi haven't you see here's the prosecutors Mirabelli is the pat let me think here is -- problem Angela let me let me tennis please crest.
Once once Romney and -- -- out there and they have their surrogate -- and explain what Obama is doing that's hurting women I think we'll have a better chance.
Yet here's the problem Angelo when you look at situations like -- comments and you look at his positions -- -- -- -- -- let me.
So let me -- let me finish Chris right so when when you look at a weekend and you look at his positions and the radical positions -- -- takes.
And how much -- alienates women and moderate voters you're not gonna win women over -- -- extreme existence planning -- -- Again you yeah.
The call it quits there were bumping up against the commercial break I didn't see why these two argue so well.
Thanks very much Angela McGlowan Chris -- us we'll be right back.
