Governor Romney's decision to pick congressman Paul Ryan as his running mate seems to have paid off in some polls.
According to quinnipiac -- Romney narrow the gap to two points in Wisconsin after the announcement.
Well the real clear politics average shows Romney behind roughly by two points there.
Joining -- -- the whole lot more insight on the race and how plays out Wisconsin is senator Ron Johnson thank you for coming in today bush and -- here.
Quite so Wisconsin getting a lot of the top time on the national stage in the last couple of -- Your campaign obviously it was huge in your defeat of the it is sitting incumbent senator.
And it awakened that we nasty town -- -- Scott Walker which he survived.
And others who were talents there Islamist state what is the move was the political feelings -- right now.
Well I think we're pretty it pretty well energized by you know governor Romney selection of -- Paul Ryan -- -- -- -- people see it that Wisconsin is in place.
Of course this mean do you look what happened November 2010.
I really do believe that the citizens Wisconsin are fiscally conservative who they have this very.
Apparently odd concept of government ought to live within this means.
So when you did it would have 2010 race who's a pretty simple race -- president bomber rammed through very unpopular healthcare -- actually ran on the repeal that law.
And of course that the -- crushing burden of debt there were piling on top for children grandchildren.
What's changed in two years other than we are closer to implementing that very unpopular law.
And we've -- about two and a half million dollars toward -- so to me it's the exact same issues that we ran out in 2010 I was a Governor Walker.
Was rewarded by having courage of addressing a problem and fixing it.
And you'll survive at the recall flying colors I I'm very optimistic -- around -- pickles are ten electoral votes.
How do you respond of those who say what happened with the governor and the union leaders there.
That it's more it's energizing union leaders in the union based in Wisconsin more than before and they're going to be more determined than ever to get out and make sure that the state doesn't go for Republican.
How do you respond.
The -- the recall.
-- that that was the real chance I think the recall that Governor Walker survived that I think that disputed the base certainly as I travel around Wisconsin.
The people on our side are certainly energized that they understand what's at stake.
The conservatives we don't take to the streets very often we -- we do Tea Party rallies and we pick up after ourselves.
We by and large.
Get behind good candidates and we don't we go to the polls and we vote.
And even take a look at these polls right now if if you take a look at the exit poll in the in the -- -- it was too close to call the governor -- walker won that.
Going away.
So I just don't think they quite have the models done done right in terms of what the -- Tuesday as ms.
who's gonna turn out.
Again I'm very optimistic what do you think -- the addition of your colleague congressman Paul -- to the ticket does in Wisconsin.
Well it certainly helpful Wisconsin but if Shannon the reason I was so pleases does not only all right just -- -- to -- the -- and have very difficult time demonizing him.
He's incredibly knowledgeable he can help craft piece legislation helped get it passed.
But for me what that really confirms what -- knew having sat down talked to governor Romney.
Governor Romney is dedicated.
To fixing these problems and he is dedicated to putting forward real solutions about leading you don't pick Paul Ryan if you're not serious about fixing the problems.
-- I travel around stances that travel around America we have a marvelous economy this RR this -- land of opportunity.
The missing ingredient is leadership -- -- president -- has not led governor Romney Paul Ryan will lead.
We've been very positive sign.
-- knew I campaigned on repealing health care Larry at least in opposition to health care law.
If the Romney -- to get work to be elected how realistic it do you think it is that they would be able to repeal in some sense.
The health care law would they have to you go after finding and just specific portions because that most agree you couldn't just out right -- -- the entire thing especially the fact that.
A lot of these things -- -- ahead.
Well with -- sixty votes in the senate be difficult for total repeal.
It's going to be incredibly important we get it the majority of Republicans in the senate and who we we do need to run the table here.
If we're gonna stop implementation of the health -- lot of happy through budget process.
If Republicans gain a majority in the senate you know we'll do.
-- -- pass a budget that we haven't passed a budget over three years when you do that it sets up that reconciliation process that you can start defining this.
With just a simple majority -- 51.
Republicans are -- dedicated doing that you know governor Romney's dedicated to stopping the implementation if not total repeal.
Every Republican running for senate is also dedicated -- doing that obviously the houses voted for repeal so.
We're gonna after on the tables wouldn't do that and and Chad is so important that we do because not only -- the health care a lot harm health care quality lead to rationing.
Limit innovation.
He'll be the final nail in the coffin terms of bankrupt in this -- I don't see how we can afford this health.
-- a long time we'll see -- Republican team does such McCain that message this week at the convention have a -- -- thank you for sometime.
