Four years ago then congressman archer Davis was not only a Democrat but he second did.

Barack Obama's nomination.

At the DNC.

And ladies and gentlemen this is the cause for which we stand.

An American president name Barack Obama who will lead and inspire the free world.

An American president named Barack Obama who will stand for the rule of law.

Well earlier this year Davis became disenchanted with the Democrats and what's the party.

He's going to be speaking before the Republicans this week Artur Davis good to have you here governor this is my -- it's good to -- you.

Well there is this is gotta feel a little different than four years ago when you -- in Denver.

And giving the second in speech for -- Obama -- you know what I think when see that tape.

I've gain weight that I have more gray hair but I've got a better haircut I think Espinosa about that out -- a balances out well.

I probably -- -- on at least two of those except -- But I'm looking -- talking of these delegates you get your finger on something in your open and it's very important.

Every election your.

All of us politicians loved to -- this is the most important election -- I think you can make an argument governor.

This is the first election.

At least since Nixon McGovern.

Where you've had such a sharp contrast.

And have the two parties in the candidates look at the world.

A complete philosophic difference one side that wants to grow government and make government the dominant force in our society.

The other side wants the market's been the dominant force samples that.

You know EQ you surprise a lot of people in your own party when you said dud I think the Democratic Party is just gone too far to the left you made a comment.

This is not Bill Clinton's Democratic Party.

Explain what you meant that it's not Jack Kennedy's Democratic Party there it's not Jimmy Carter's Democratic Party a man of faith we talked about faith and how much and got -- -- It's not Lyndon Johnson's Democratic Party a man who -- Medicare and Medicaid and civil rights.

By getting Republicans to form a coalition with them.

It's not the democratic party of a whole lot of Americans I put my move in context according to Gallup.

One out of ten Obama supporters don't plan to vote for him this time.

You do the math on the seventy million votes he got an even my Harvard math tells me that's about 7000006.

Million people.

That is a big drop off of the biggest drop while we would have -- in twenty years for -- -- president.

Have you had Democrats say -- what have you done you've lost your mind you've gone over to the dark side with the Republicans over here.

How why he had done this are they angry actually -- over those of the nice things they say that -- a definite upward after.

But -- you know this is what I would say.

Democratic elected officials are pretty mad at me they're kind of mad about Republicans now obviously thought their candidate would be ahead -- ten points and he's even -- behind.

But you wouldn't believe how many democratic voters.

Send me emails and say.

You or represent thing or you're one person who's represented the viewpoint that I felt for awhile.

My inbox was -- -- the other day with people who said to me that they were Democrats.

But who said the day you don't recognize this Democratic Party.

Let me ask you was there a moment are a particular issue that was the turning point for you.

-- after being a loyal Democrat your whole life and -- elected congressmen on top of that I think people need to realize.

It's not just that you were a casual Democrat an elected official -- what was the moment that you said.

Can't go anymore.

There was no epiphany moment governor but there's a moment that I do think -- Were talking about what Occupy Wall Street was putting up those tents last -- down and they were demonizing every American in this country who was successful.

What I watch the Democratic Party either embrace that movement or refused to call out the intellectual.

Vacancy in that movement.

When I saw the president go on TV and say that he thought the -- -- inspirational.

That said something to me about where the Democratic Party was Bill Clinton's Democratic Party would have seen Occupy Wall Street for what it was.

This Democratic Party today embraces what was one of the shallowest most intellectually and make a movements we've seen in the last over years.

A movement that in effect say -- if you make it in this society.

That -- cheated to get there.

That you don't deserve your success -- as the president puts it that you didn't build that.

You you have represented.

The state of Alabama in congress.

Tell me about the changes you've seen in Alabama is it used to be a solid.

Blew right Democrat state it is no longer that way.

Well the Democratic Party was very strong and Alabama until very recently because it used to be a big tent party.

But this is a phenomenon governor we sell around the country which used to be a big tent party.

What used to be a party that had a conservative wing of blue dog winning a -- of -- winning has gotten smaller and smaller.

And I think there's so many Democrats right now -- look at the party and -- saying.

I don't hear my voice I would challenge so many Democrats and some of them -- the many listen to your program.

Listen to the clamor in Charlotte that's coming in a few weeks and ask if you hear your voice.

And the noise and Charlotte asked if your views and values are being spoken to.

When you turn on the TV and Charlotte in two weeks that is a powerful way to put -- -- -- -- haven't heard anyone else say it quite like that you're gonna be speaking Tuesday night.

At the Republican National Convention whether from -- and -- -- of Reading all of weather permitting him to tell me how you feel going up to that stage and knowing you're looking at a party of people you've you've never been with before.

Well in fairness governor I've known a lot of Republicans for a long time because I was the kind of Democrat who believe that you reach out to the other side.

I thought that was the right substantive thing to do.

So the rally is when I look at I'll see a lot of friendly faces people I work with in the congressman bipartisan way like Chris Smith the New Jersey.

People in Alabama delegation new friends I've made a Virginia.

I think the ones paying attention will be the friends of mine who wanted the black bears -- the ones out of out I'm how to.

Affect our tour I cannot tell you my pleasure what a real pleasure it is to have you thank you sir it's my I'm looking forward to your speech Tuesday in public before to yours -- -- I'm gonna take a lot of notes amnesty August after that is.

Coming up this -- is at.
