Are you ready for the conventions let us know what you think about this week activity at this week's activities you can tweet me follow me at -- -- there.
You can follow me at Megyn -- very disappointing because I was beating -- Twitter followers until just this week really and I you've you've surpassed me while keeping gone.
Nathan Kelly -- with the Y and -- Why ends the fact that they're gonna bring back get our all star panel now Charles Krauthammer Juan Williams.
And Steve Hayes so Charles what are you following me.
Because.
I find it tweeting takes up so much in my time did you and -- Of the better reason next time and I'm not ambushed.
No question.
Weird Mitt Romney in his interview with Chris Wallace say that his father would have told him it was something he always said which was beat bolt.
So that's his challenge this week to come out and be bold do you expect that from -- around.
I think he's got to be real.
I think that's the problem if you look at the objective conditions of this election.
Obama shouldn't be anywhere near.
In a tie with Mitt Romney should be twenty points behind.
But it's like Carter and Reagan in 1980 we're on the objective conditions.
-- Carter should have been laid back but he wasn't.
People just weren't sure that Reagan was presidential it -- an extremist etc.
Romney the reason -- still neck and neck is because people.
Don't really know him and see him -- stiff.
And they're not quite sure they want to change horses and that's why he's got an opportunity Obama doesn't.
Obama's gonna make a speech next week but everybody's heard of a hundred times it's not an important speech he made 37 speeches on health care alone.
But -- is going to be his his his one shot.
To let people see that he's human he's not robotic.
That he cares it's about this -- business and is the reason Obama is up by about 2030 points over Romney on being likable.
Let's take a look at that.
-- USA today Gallup just recently.
Like ability and the economy -- see that poll 54%.
To 31%.
On like ability.
The economy slips 52%.
To 43%.
And Obama.
Can change the economy but Romney can -- like ability.
That's why -- the elections in his hands.
Obama stuck with the economy he's got it's not gonna change people know we -- Romney has his chance if he can make him.
You can narrow that -- saved by half he wins the election hands down.
One what about that that challenge.
The Obama campaign is clearly.
Trying to paint Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan.
As extremists.
And they talk about all the time the president did an interview just this past weekend.
With associated press and here's one of the things he says.
He has.
Signed up for.
Positions.
Extreme positions that are very consistent where the positions that a number of house Republicans have taken.
And whether he actually believes in those or not.
I have no doubt that he would carry forward.
Some of the things that.
He's talked about.
So now -- -- is is an extremist in the primary he was too moderate.
Right because some other way that the president seeks to define Mitt Romney in this picks up on what you -- saying lots of people don't know Mitt Romney even yet.
Is as someone who is in lock -- with the house Republicans and especially the Tea Party element in the house Republicans.
That is define the Republican brand at this moment.
And possibly the most.
Clear cut way in which he is connected to them is Paul Ryan the vice presidential pick.
And then you buy into the Ryan budget and the attacks on Medicare and the whole business about abortion.
And that takes you down a path that I think lots of Americans if you look at the standings -- party.
Aren't comfortable and that's why Mitt Romney in this moment.
You don't pick up on his dad's advice he has to define himself he has to come out and say who he he is right now is he.
The -- that Republican spirit was too much of a middling moderate from Massachusetts.
Or in fact is he now someone who says you know what.
-- -- willing to break with my party on certain things and other cases here quiet here's who I am I'm a conviction politician and I want to know exactly what I stand for America.
Steve and but Mitt Romney won't take that stage on Thursday in a vacuum even if this -- -- convention gets condensed by one or more days now.
And we expect there will be night at least Thursday probably Wednesday as well now and will have seen it in a condensed time and Romney.
Chris Christie.
Paul Ryan and then Mitt Romney so he takes that stayed with some momentum behind him on this the party's principles and what they stand for.
How much does that help him.
I think it helps him tremendously new look today everybody's going to be talking about Mitt Romney.
And kind of leader that he's -- and that he will be.
And you know you hear so much talk about what he needs to do with the convention.
-- -- this is relatively simple I think he needs to do two things -- to two questions he needs to answer who is Mitt Romney.
And -- -- -- what will he do as president.
Those the to question I think you can hear people.
All to really -- those things out Mitt Romney -- -- and Romney will be talking about her husband in a way that's different than most voters who have been paying attention today every contour.
Of the primary have seen others will do so as well -- got some olympians coming up to speak to his role.
It turning around the Olympics so you'll hear those kinds of stories but I think also it's very important that he that he lay out this bold agenda that you're talking about.
And that he sort follow up the pick of Paul Ryan which was a bold pick.
With an agenda at a convention that reflects that kind of leadership and make this a debate about leadership styles and leadership and where the country's going.
Yeah -- if you look at leadership right now in the polls.
President Obama leads Honda leadership issue.
This number two in this pols who does this characteristic apply more to.
