-- -- -- camp everybody conservative commentator Charles Krauthammer says that governor Romney really has won -- big chance.
To change the course of this election.
Here's what he says mr.
Romney must do to bring it home at this convention this week listen.
I think he's got to be real.
I think that's the problem if you look at the objective conditions of this election.
Obama shouldn't be anywhere near.
In a tie with Mitt Romney should be twenty points behind Romney the reason that he still neck and -- is because people.
Don't really know him and see him a stiff.
And they're not quite sure they want to change horses.
And that's why he's got an opportunity Obama doesn't.
Obama's gonna make a speech next week but everybody's heard of a hundred times it's not an important speech he made 37 speeches on health care alone.
But -- is going to be his his his one shot.
To let people see that he's human he's not remodeled city cares it's about this -- business.
-- -- But -- joined by Charles Krauthammer is syndicated congress of course and a Fox News contributor tells good morning good to have you with us.
-- pleasure to be here.
You know it's it's interesting I just was reading.
Online moments ago about.
He and AM -- walking out of an event and the reporters shouted to them in a house the speech coming how -- speech coming and -- -- a premium.
So -- said yes.
Thank you ladies and gentlemen that was Dolly was willing to reveal about what is in that speech but no doubt he feels the power of that moment and how important is going to be form what does he need to do -- You know I think it's nicer than Romney's these because as -- -- -- last night and I think he -- Romney's problem is people think he doesn't care.
-- -- got to -- this morning the latest poll on cares most about you Obama is ahead by 22 points.
Now what this allows -- an economy.
And with Obama -- had four years.
You know he's pretending this is a choice election -- -- plan.
You know we had a plan in 2008 he's been in office for years -- obviously hasn't worked so are two people believe.
He's got another -- if it's a referendum on Obama.
And what he's done he loses he should be neck and it.
The problem for Romney it is that people think he doesn't care.
And I think that's what -- conventions should do the and -- speech I think is very important because.
She's the best thing he's got going for him.
When it comes dehumanizing softening him showing him a man who clearly has empathy and feeling but he has a lot of trouble showing it.
And then his speech he doesn't have to go and give -- promotes.
Rendition of his life for tell a lot of -- for New Orleans to do speak in terms that are empathetic.
That are -- -- and I don't think a lot of hard rhetoric is what we want.
I think he needs to show that he's a guy who's very confident.
Who does have plans that can deliver the message in a way that shows that he cares now he's not going to be.
-- they would Obama you know on the ratings of caring.
But as I was trying to explain the other day.
If he can catch that -- and have the election's over he's one.
You know it's interesting when you ask people who cares about -- -- I wonder if the response to that question doesn't come in part.
From you know a concern about benefits being taken away you know President Obama a lot when he gets up and speaks talks about not taking anything away from people.
You know we live in a country now where so many Americans receive a government check and one where neither.
So it seems that part of what his campaign Obama's campaign has embraced is this idea that you don't have to panic you don't have to fear.
None of those checks are gonna disappear we're gonna take care of -- I think you're right -- -- is rooted in some way.
In policy -- that the Republicans.
In classic -- people say that Democrats have a mommy party and Republicans are the Daddy Party in mommy's gonna remove.
-- Braxton from -- and people always think that the Republicans are these mean guys we just want to cut but we've Romney's case it goes beyond the policy.
Because the reason that becomes a credible argument.
Is because they feel from his personal history.
And he doesn't care.
And that's where the hundreds of billions of dollars.
Obama has spent on all these ads attacking him as a vulture capitalist.
And that that outside group they had they ran -- they essentially said.
That he killed steel worker's wife he lays off the steelworkers.
And then he -- was a wife with cancer I -- an unimaginably.
Good to -- it.
Ahead -- that you could almost not imagine being limited to anybody else.
That lays the basis for the policy issue he's a guy -- -- these history has never cared so and I was a guy with policies that don't care.
That's the Obama argued.
And I think on the policy you can win the case.
By explaining that your policies -- save Medicare.
Saved grainy save the -- preserve the safety.
But you've got to get to the personal life.
To I'll do that impressions.
Left by all that negative advertising.
That's his stance that the convention.
And I think he can begin to do it Thursday night.
And I think.
There -- some indications that he has started to sort of loosen up a little bet become more comfortable with communicating some of those ideas we'll see if he can -- bring it home that's clearly what his campaign wants to accomplish this week.
Charles thank you so much always good to have you.
You know what I suggest maybe he should go out on stage.
With the dog that he had on the roof of the car.
I don't know that I'd be enough and have the doggie -- right there I think.
I think it's better not -- moment.
All of Lisa I'm fascinated that they see this -- and that they communicate that to the -- -- -- like that -- -- Assuming he's -- is still alive I don't know.
I'd -- I don't know there's always built Jack in the -- on the floor saying Caroline --
