Meantime hundreds of earthquakes shaking Southern California.
The US Geological Survey is describing it as a rare seismic swarm.
The last one like it hit in the 1970s some of these quakes reach the magnitude of five point three.
They were felt as Far East as Arizona William -- and -- live in Los Angeles he has the latest for us old.
Where exactly has the ground in shaking William.
Well Brawley is a farming area John just east of San Diego just north of the Mexican border as you saw.
Is -- usual here was not so much the magnitude although I think over five point oh can definitely rattle your bones it was the duration.
Brawley saw -- thirty quakes and a four hour period.
And over a hundred throughout Sunday I hear some damage inside one home elsewhere the plates are so mobile homes off their foundations TVs -- over.
Gas and water lines broke.
Now watch this closely this guy was taping.
When one of those quakes hit.
-- -- So we had no injuries although some hospital patients John were evacuated.
So the big picture first Southern California what does it mean anything.
What you know.
These swarms are storms are not unprecedented Brawley sits between the Santa or the junction basically this imagery is in the imperial faults.
While some experts say that they can't really obviously predict the future.
That the -- this series should expect more -- number one.
May be another five point no but they'd never seen a -- swarm followed by a bigger earthquake elsewhere.
Earthquake has this large a five point five it was felt in San Diego -- some of the southern Orange County but not really up in the Los Angeles area we wouldn't expect him.
We also don't expect to see.
Any impact.
On the San Andreas Fault which of course are our big feature around because it's just it's too far away from it.
We've seen these types of -- many times over the last century and never seen it followed by activity -- senators.
So that's -- bottom line there are hundreds or earthquakes or -- -- hundreds of earthquakes every day in Southern California there are hundreds of falls under Southern California.
But this event and -- big one the San Andreas Fault which runs north south really splits the Pacific -- from the continental plate.
Those are on related so.
Kind of -- usual situation but.
Should not tell the rest of us that we should be on our toes if you will now let me let's hope it's not a sign of things to come within months -- in Los Angeles thank you.
