All right.

There is going to be obviously two big news events going on -- same time of the final week of August as it gets under way you've got tropical storm Isaac churning out in the Gulf of Mexico gaining strength.

Taking aim at the Gulf Coast potentially headed toward New Orleans.

And then there's the Republican National Convention a major political event but it's already being overshadowed by Isaac.

And the news media have to decide how to split up the coverage of both events.

So let's talk about it would Jim Pinkerton of Korn contributing editor and writer for the American conservative magazine.

Alan Colmes is host of the Alan Colmes radio show he has a new book out just today it's called thank the liberals for saving them.

Erica time I'm sure the -- but several copies already given one come on I'll sign it.

I -- -- you're down there in Tampa you're not rushing off to cover the hurricane but a lot of reporters are what's the effect on the Republican National Convention.

Or force a lot of reporters the political reporters that is are here -- this.

That bush the hurricane over onto the Tampa average for example struck out on.

NBC news yesterday said the quote the shadow of bush and Katrina hangover this convention -- -- I'm down here I'll see bush -- -- I think that look there's still covered there's two imperiled facts here one as the storm coverage -- dispute.

And one as a political coverage and I think there's plenty of news in both places.

Aspects of the news from Syria and the Euro -- we'll get crowded out this week.

Tom but I -- I think the biggest phenomenon is liberal borders kind if you will poison -- Republican Convention with references to events seven years ago.

Allen room regardless of what happens.

To the hurricane -- reporters -- the Republicans the same amount of coverage as they're going to give the Democrats.

In Charlotte.

Yeah I would think it out to be fair and balance and do the same.

But you can't help mother nature -- mean Pat Robertson last week said.

That there was a -- in the midwest as people would -- -- god I wonder what he's gonna say.

That now that there are two Republican conventions in a row same thing for years ago affected by a hurricane but but in on a more serious note.

Honestly -- in -- hurricane probably affects.

More people and these conventions -- infomercials I see this from both of them they could probably be done a one night do we really need a three day.

Convention in each case both Republicans and Democrats which really is nothing more than that.

A commercial -- -- political party.

-- and you're also gonna have a prospect is this tropical storm turns into something major and you know and any tropical storm dumps maybe a foot or a foot and a half full range.

On on community is going to be potentially major you have the prospect GM and President Obama winging his way down there on Air Force One and doing all sorts of presidential -- -- -- the media are gonna have to cover right.

That's right that's right look I mean having allies were right and -- the guy I I won't dispute that the storm is bigger news for more people.

At least in the short run -- men men and does this Republican Convention is.

Again I what I can't can't get -- noting again is how we -- even reporters who are here and and and in Tampa.

Are journalists are our our other commentators are still jumping in for example.

Jennifer -- home the former democratic governor of Michigan who now anchors.

TV show on on current TV -- the -- Al Gore channel.

Tweeted out that maybe this is you know that that the that the bill that Isaak storm as is God's way of punishing Republicans again I think it's pretty clear she was joking -- is John Nolte it.

Right part dot com pointed out it would have some Republican has said that if -- -- -- you know that the big delegate Pat Roberts says that seven he was excited about doing the nominee -- -- -- -- was a candidate 88.

All right that was talking about -- -- -- -- -- thanks for joining you.
