Well we know his record as governor of Massachusetts.
And we have heard of his success leading Bain Capital and we know we turned around -- -- -- 2002 Winter Olympics but one thing we don't know.
Is -- governor Mitt Romney is is a person.
A father and a family man that's one of the things the campaign is trying to get out -- this week.
His five sons the Romney boys join me live now in Tampa.
And I hear that I am the envy of a lot of female staffers here had hit -- news right now but they're all married.
Just FYI -- so thanks to my sister -- I have the list tag Matt Josh Ben and cracked.
Right -- -- so.
Certainly that's because I pick up where we left off with one and Carl which was a story about who's been divisive in this campaign I think I know where you guys stand.
But it's got to be very hard when it's not you it's your dad who you love.
And you see allegations out there like he's a -- he's either a felon or a liar American people you decide.
Your thoughts on so it can't you just can't worry about that stuff collateral to back in and you know it the other guys are gonna try to lie cheat steal and an accuse him all sorts of things are true you just can't worry about it.
-- -- -- -- Your -- -- -- -- your mom more like behind closed doors they have to come out say our right you know I can take it.
But behind closed -- that is there anything that goes beyond the pale on any of you guys you know that that has gotten -- you know what's interesting is it doesn't bother because we know we really is it doesn't bother my mom and dad because they're very comfortable with who they -- and.
I mean of course we know that people are gonna -- -- from politics it's a tough game but.
He's very confident we're confident we know who he is and as people in the you know in the country gets in on I think they're gonna love the -- to the Pentagon -- -- -- -- -- pretty rough economist kids that he's prepared for.
I see the -- Now -- okay well do you wanna miss PA used you know what just I argued allow them -- teenagers -- -- -- -- -- caveat.
-- -- I think having five boys prepared my dad for just about anything is that right now now what do I should do a little bit because your mum is seems to be very beloved by.
People on both sides of the aisle right.
But then that there was some controversy about whether the the Democrats using her horse that she uses as her part of her multiple sclerosis.
Therapy.
In an ad that sort of ripped on your dad with a that was beyond the pail Democrats that they take down he had but then they didn't -- -- this year that Ben because you're actually a doctor.
What do you think about.
Well I mean I think -- first of all you know my mom's.
Her health -- they did a drastic improvement I think when she started doing her horses and riding horses.
And yes and it's great for her you know and in medicine we counsel people to do whatever works for him.
And that that network for her and so I think that's great.
-- really -- all right that you can take -- my dad but.
Don't mess with my mom yeah but you know what I mean it's not surprising that the Democrats are doing this because of the things that might get -- talk about fixing the economy.
Getting to 22 million Americans out of work back to work they want -- anything other than that and so they keep coming up with distractions they've had to make personal attacks.
-- -- talk about the 1% vs the 99% they try to divide America and to try to talk what anything other than a track record on the economy.
That point.
The Ronnie -- the other narrative that's not very you guys served our kids of privilege you know your dad -- successful year your grandfather was successful.
But it's that you're dead -- it is in many ways -- may I mean -- he started off in a 75 dollar a month apartment basement apartment.
With your mom years ago I mean do people really understand that they did have some struggles.
I think it'll be really fun for people to realize and get to know my dad -- more personal level I think hopefully the convention will be a good.
-- channel to do that to kind of learn a bit more historian I think he's still in large part has been defined by the opposition -- to this point in and so it's our opportunity and and I think my dad's did not tell his side of the story.
-- -- because you know I've met him a few times and and then a lot of people met him.
Lot folks Tuesday -- they -- feel like it's hard to break through a little thing -- -- he doesn't have that Bill Clinton ability -- just like.
Make you feel like he understands you and that but -- to said well that's not necessary you know we need somebody to fix the economy.
But you guys must experience that I mean what -- what is your ex.
Your whole life what with him as a father he loved us cared for us in my mom and he spent that much of our time together caring for helping other people.
Is you know as bishop and in the church and and and helping neighbors that were going through tough times.
And member -- the story when a friend of -- said their son was then diagnosed with cancer.
He spent that he was dead some of fourteen they might get spent countless hours at their home.
I agreeing with Tennessee went through this process visiting them in the hospital.
And then speaking at their funeral -- or his funeral when he passed away and then and then comforting them after after he -- he does those things that and in his private life -- He is he's a private person in some ways and he he doesn't -- emotions honestly he doesn't and yet he has his emotions run deep.
And he if you ask about his scatter about.
His wife for some other things you can get very emotional and enter a little bit so dot com -- that.
That I'm gonna do that -- I don't it'll be public -- about it right after the break on -- like you guys about your parents love story which is a beautiful piece of the Romney story and something that a lot of people.
Don't know that much about but folks on both sides -- -- -- I have admired your parents' relationship we'll talk a little bit more about that and what we can expect.
From their father on Thursday night you don't work at a speech is a big moment for him.
For the -- -- and for the country we'll have more over the Ronnie sons right after the break.
And we're back here live in the Tampa Bay times that.
Four on which is where.
It all happens Mitt Romney will take to the state on Thursday night and these are his five sons who will be watching with bated breath now you don't get nervous you say going in front of the camera anymore.
But this is your mom's big opportunity -- your dad's big opportunity any nerves at all do you think they're experiencing any nerves.
I think they're anxious to get out there and and -- the speech is an -- death and preparing for a long time and and thinking about what he would say so I think they're excited I don't think they're too nervous -- everybody's saying how he needs to have this this is his moment to sort of.
Countered the vulture capital -- me now this corporate raider image that the Obama campaign has painted of him.
Is he could do anything differently in -- speech on Thursday then we've seen him do before he's gonna juggle that he.
-- -- -- I think a lot of people haven't had a chance to see my dad give a full speech they see snippets here and there on the news or and had a different things -- this'll be.
The first time a lot of Americans get to see his real speech who is and they're not as as I've traveled my -- people get to see a speech here.
I'm really here he's got to say they're very impressed than it did that does a lot of good still pressuring me this is like forty million people gonna watch is if you do you see that on him -- all -- -- -- -- -- -- it that way he just he recognizes this is a big moment.
And usually thrives in this big moments he he runs at things as opposed to running away from them how much your mom -- this is a big moment for her -- gonna have a tens of millions of people watching or does she.
I think she's up for the challenge -- you know I think is one of the nice things about campaigning you kind of lose.
Those butterflies that usually get and need -- public speeches and stuff -- even so I think have enough experience going on speaking that.
Things have really -- anymore and it is -- early -- -- senate has heard to say he'd be nervous.
Really think that's -- because -- the idea this had given him a hard time that they write you now -- -- be terrified you know your momma and she.
She said by many to be his ace in the hole like she people who think that well I don't know he seems kind of -- I can't relate to him.
But -- her and she wouldn't a guy who is definitely not affect you have to get in now right.
Do you think your mom and how to how important you see your mom as as her role in -- Campaign well I think you know my my my dad.
Drying up we on -- and that my mom and dad loved each other very much and we -- we know they still do and you know she's really one of his best supports as far as you know.
Getting on the campaign trail I mean I guess it didn't get lonely without him.
And I had to go ahead.
Yes yet how this may seem like a weird question but how did you know that they really love each other.
I you know it's it's it's very clear the united actions there whereas each other and a way to teach out -- -- always -- each other with respect.
Dignity we we all -- now PDA.
That was the one barrel in the -- growing up as you can't disrespect mom and anyway and if Matt did want to.
And dad's -- you did -- times.
As rebellious according to my chart you are -- death and it's disrespectful what well I think we got -- -- you know you can imagine at 1213 fourteen year old kid we -- periodic times and that that was.
-- that didn't take that lightly he didn't like him and we disrespect.
You guys are all married.
Happily from the looks of it and you all have kids your your mom and dad had eighteen grandkids right.
You an example set -- -- we're just showing your parents wedding photo and they talked a lot about how they really fell madly in love with one and and other when they got married they got married.
Right away after he came back from his two years in France serving as a missionary.
And that they've been deeply in love ever since have they set -- example for you do you use that your own.
Here is that even today I think I look at them and how they treat each other how they treat our kids are great you know their grandkids and they're great example for us and looking at my dad it's amazing you know with the five boys -- in so many problems.
We were just always fighting.
For them to keep your composure I look at them now -- wonder how they did it is my kids get the better me I.
I never like making funny faces at his grandkids that he do that didn't like that goofy stuff that AMs and that's to have a good time he likes to unwind in and -- around and play the grandkids and and that way would this friends say I mean he's city ever discipline if you forget -- a timeout we had a face off.
You might ask or whatever had a -- -- I that I -- my advantage and a half timeout they had -- -- off.
That -- knock it out we're definitely discipline.
I his blessing on as you can really get short -- time left is there anything not a platitudes is there anything you really truly want people to know about.
Him.
Before there's an -- he's doing this for the right reasons he's not doing it because he wants to be president he's doing this because he genuinely.
Loves this country.
He feels a great.
Responsibility to do to help with fellow man.
And he feels like this -- nothing to do that and he's got -- -- -- I think we'll make the country better guys thank you all so much pain pleasure meeting -- elect your family.
